That sucks.  Didn’t know it was that serious.  Her poor mother.  I can’t imagine out living your kid.

Got mine (4th dose) mid November, just before the holidays and a long trip to Disney.

No willing to admit to it.

At least with COVID you have choices to prevent infection.

Unlike a-hole, POS, drunk drivers. Not much you can do to prepare for some tough guy ready to show the younger guys at work he is a real man by driving in still drunk, to work.

Trust the experts!

No, not those experts!

Not right now. Doesn't seem to be a point. The booster is for a dead strain. If they find a way to get ahead of the strains like they do with the flu shot, I'll start getting one again every year.

This doesn't really happen with the flu either though. Even there it's still just a best guess projection by vaccine makers, in conjunction with the NIH, by handpicking a few select strains that they think will be circulating by the time flu season hits. But even on their best years, it's still just barely peaking above 50% efficacy because of how many and how readily the flu strains mutate (many different types of flu viruses, plus surface protein recombination, make for an always shifting target.) Just those signaling their virtue

What about people who get flu shots? Is that virtue signaling too?

I know its a best guess with the flu. Even if its a best guess covid booster, I'd be inclined to get it. I jsut think its a waste of time getting boosted against the last covid strain that has mostly died out.

All things considered, their guess was actually fairly correct with this bivalent booster in so much as the currently circulating variants at the time of its release was a mix of BA.4/5 and BQ1.1 (which was a sublineage of the BA.5 target used in the booster.) Only now are we starting to see XBB sublineages take hold in limited regions, several months later.

Yikes.

Sometimes the flu shots work.

Don't take it from me or the CDC. Go ahead and ask your doctor if they agree with your notion that covid vaccines don't work.

I guess all those studies showing the massive disparity in deaths between "virtue signalers" and "non-virtue signalers" were all made up and any correlation to vaccine uptake was purely coincidental. Imagine being so hopelessly partisan and politically indoctrinated that you'd be literally willing to stake your life on it.

I was the younger guy with a superior work ethic.
