And it looks like I was at one of the stores at the time and date identified in the article. My kids are all vaccinated so no big deal but just another reminder of how many idiots there are.

Cases appear to be up 10% according to CDC My state stopped publishing testing data so there's no way to find out what the current positivity rates are. There's this site, but doesn't show daily trends in positivity rates like we used to get from the state dept of health data.
July 28, 20232 yr Anecdotal: We had the summer muck make it's way through the household. Stuffy noses, dry cough, sore throat... My wife lost her sense of smell so we each took the COVID tests we had saved. Both negative. Reportedly hospitalizations for COVID are up 10%, and the virus can be detected in wastewater.

Pandemic deaths in Ohio and Florida show partisan divide after vaccine rollout The death gap between Democrats and Republicans was larger in counties with lower vaccination rates. https://arstechnica.com/health/2023/07/gop-voters-had-higher-excess-deaths-rates-after-covid-vaccine-rollout/

Aren't they getting the same information from the CDC?

Kind of like your posts about "measles and anti-vax idiots that travel to foreign countries and spread it to the rest of uneducated America." So .. please tell us this time how sure you are that the parent was anti-vax (as opposed to just negligent) and what country they traveled to import the disease back home --- I see it has a Walmart and a Costco. I support the Measles vaccine. I like it so much I had two myself. My wife had the vaccine and both my kids were vaccinated at the recommended times in their lives. Everybody should get it. It does what a vaccine is supposed to do and is still doing it. As far as people traveling abroad, I think most travelers that are US citizens have the vaccine and are protected. Perhaps we can slow the spread at the borders by requiring immunization before moving "migrants" along with their welcome giftbags.
July 28, 20232 yr Looking at reported COVID rates at this point is a waste of time. No one is testing let alone reporting anything. The measurements in the waste system are the best place to look if you want to see what is happening. If you've already had it and you're vaccinated than you are in great shape. Continue to booster up if you are in a risk category (age, certain conditions, etc.). Otherwise, no real need to do anything.

Look, there's a lot about parenting that takes effort and can be difficult to navigate, but this is one of the rare times where the answer is as simple as can be... Get your kids vaccinated, this isn't some puzzling brain teaser that should keep you up at night. It's literally as easy as bringing them in to the doctor for their annual check-ups which every parent should be doing already.

So, the parents clearly complained and got an exemption. Does that answer your question?

I love your goofy need to whine about immigration, in a post about Montco people with the measles. I'm not sure how you negligently don't vaccinate your kids against measles. The vaccine has been working longer than most posters have been alive. I'll still with my guess that the idiot parent, at least one, is an anti-vax nutjob. You can have your immigrant theory.

Get your kids vaccinated, this isn't some puzzling brain teaser that should keep you up at night. It's literally as easy as bringing them in to the doctor for their annual check-ups which every parent should be doing already. I had responsible parents. I tried to be a responsible parent. But I know people that neither had responsible parents nor turned out to be responsible parents themselves. I think we all do. I think that's why schools will usually require proof of immunization to certain things and I think that helps parents that have been negligent in the matter. This latest incident was to a toddler that would not be in school yet. I don't think it's really uncommon. I do think that if this issue weighs on someone's heart, like it appears it does to Toastrel, perhaps there's a better way to help "educate" those that would benefit from information they weren't aware of or haven't given any thought to, than to attack "anti-vaxxers" on the EMB. That's how charitable organizations begin. Volunteer some time, maybe money --- whatever. I can see that having positive results.

Also, I'm not saying the parent was an immigrant, but they could have come in contact with one that wasn't vaccinated and had some stage of the measles. My "guess" is merely that the parent was negligent as opposed to anti-vax. As I said above --- that's why schools require shot records.

Anyone refusing to get their kids vaccinated is by definition an anti-vaxer. You're trying to split hairs by claiming negligence is an excuse when it's clearly not. If you're too lazy to take your kid to the doctor for annual check-ups, then you're a stone's throw away from being a full blown anti-vax nutjob anyway.

Why you're trying to die on this hill is anyone's guess but you can continue to pretend "negligence" is an excuse and we'll continue to call out moronic anti-vax parents for being the morons that they are.

We are getting closer to it being like the flu where theres a shot available in the fall for the predicted dominant strain. There's supposed to be one coming in a few months for the current dominant strain and sub variants.
