Yep my bleeding heart that's trying to defend and make excuses for lazy neglectful parents that put their own kids health at risk. Good call.

"They're not anti-vax, they're just misunderstood! They were just waiting for more testing data to come out before deciding on whether the 60 year old measles vaccine is safe!"

There is no reason in 2023 to not be immunized against measles. The health department gives them out if they don't have health insurance or are on medical  assistance. https://www.montgomerycountypa.gov/1121/Immunizations

The only reason a child remains unvaccinated after the kid is a year-old is because the parents are being willfully negligent. They haven't seen a pediatrician. It will catch up once they register the kid for school. They will need both doses of MMR to enroll. Or they have to homeschool to avoid detection. Anti-vaxxers find a way.

My goofy need --- like yours to whine about measles in the covid thread?

Also, I'm not saying the parent was an immigrant, but they could have come in contact with one that wasn't vaccinated and had some stage of the measles. My "guess" is merely that the parent was negligent as opposed to anti-vax. As I said above --- that's why schools require shot records.

Yes, this is a thread where there is lots of talk about immunizations. I'd say they are pretty negligent, taking their sick, unvaccinated kid all over the place.

You need a license to drive, sadly I think it is time people should need a license to be a parent

One step above anti vax. Denying medical care to sick kids.

Tatiana Fusari told cops the couple noticed the baby was unwell but declined to get medical help, partly for "religious reasons."

The father, Seth Welch, appears to have railed against vaccines, doctors and the health care industry on his Facebook page. In a live video recorded three months ago on a page bearing his name, a man who looks like him says he hasn’t vaccinated his children. He says his children aren’t "allergic to anything” and "basically don’t get sick.”

"The righteous shall live by faith,” the man says in the video, quoting a Bible verse. "It’s God who is sovereign over disease and those sorts of things and ultimately death. So it doesn’t worry me.”

Looking at reported COVID rates at this point is a waste of time.  No one is testing let alone reporting anything.  The measurements in the waste system are the best place to look if you want to see what is happening.  If you've already had it and you're vaccinated than you are in great shape.  Continue to booster up if you are in a risk category (age, certain conditions, etc.).  Otherwise, no real need to do anything.

I couldn't give 2 craps about covid anymore but heard oh my 10% increase in hospitalizations, I thought ok for sheets and giggles I will look the numbers, the 10% in real numbers is about 200 more people in hospitals than last week, about 30,00 less than this time last year. My biggest fear is next year the left once again bringing up tripledemic garbage and continuing with covid BS that causes Trumpsters to come out in droves next fall to vote

sure, but you know some athletes got myocarditis? that never happened before Covid.

sure that's generally true. but I also tend to think vaccine avoidance had something to do with it, given that despite losing effectiveness against transmission as Covid mutated vaccines continued to provide the best available protection against developing serious Covid.

If it was just a matter of larger prevalence of pre-existing risk factors like age, obesity, diabetes, etc, then that still wouldn't explain the massive disparity in excess death before and after the vaccine roll out in the April '21. This was especially true during the Omicron wave in Jan '22.

We keep trying to eradicate this disease, and anti-vaxxy wackos keep on bringing it back to life.

I know it's a weird detail to focus on, buy why in the hell would you bring your kid to 3 separate Emergency Departments for a suspected infectious disease, but stop at Costco and Walmart between visits?

I really hate people sometimes
