Texas lt. governor hits Fauci: 'He doesn't know what he's talking about'

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) on Tuesday lambasted Anthony Fauci over his assessment of the recent surge in coronavirus cases in the U.S., claiming that his state did not need advice from the nation's top infectious disease expert. "Fauci said that he’s concerned about states like Texas that skipped over certain things. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about," Patrick said on Fox News after Fauci testified before a Senate committee about the U.S. response to the coronavirus outbreak. "We haven’t skipped over anything."

"The only thing I’m skipping over is listening to him," Patrick added. "He has been wrong every time, on every issue. I don’t need his advice anymore. We’ll listen to a lot of science, we’ll listen to a lot of doctors, and [Gov. Greg Abbott (R)], myself and other state leaders will make the decision. No thank you, Dr. Fauci."

Used to go there all the time when I was younger.

We're doing so good, this better not set Pennsylvania back like parts of New York City has. We're seeing 500-600 cases for the whole state daily. It would take us a month to get what Florida gets in one day.

This guy sounded like such a hick dumbarse when I heard him talking. Fine, don't take the advice from one of the top infectious disease doctors in the country. He knows nothing. SMH.

agreed...no entry fee is a big perk. food there is pretty good too.  we usually get there once or twice each summer.

Haha, I just saw that. It wasn't my pic, though. I wouldn't be caught dead at that place in all of this.

12 in Luzerne County (Where I am from). I don't remember the last time we had double digits here.

I must say, a theme park is pretty much the absolute last place I would want to be during this.

on the knoebels fb page, i can't tell you how many comments i saw with people asking...what about those of us with asthma or breathing issues who can't wear a mask?

why in the f would a person with a breathing issue go to a f'n amusement park during a pandemic?

You've been there as have I.  That park, while fun, is basically a haven for NEPA and Central PA trash.  MAGA folks will be eliminated by natural selection this summer.

U.S. Coronavirus Death Toll May Be Almost 30 Percent Higher Than Officially Thought

The COVID-19 death toll in the U.S. may be almost 30 percent higher than previously thought, according to a study. Writing in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, researchers said the estimated gap may partly be explained by an initial lack of widespread testing.

Six months into the COVID-19 pandemic, over 10.6 million COVID-19 cases have been confirmed worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins University. The U.S., which has been hit by a recent uptick in cases in the South and West, has the most cases at 2.6 million, and the most deaths, at over 128,000.

The researchers estimated the number of undocumented COVID-19 fatalities by counting what are known as "excess deaths." This is a common way for experts to measure the impact of a new infectious pathogen, such as a pandemic flu, when there is a lack of comprehensive testing, according to the team.

They did this by calculating a baseline number of expected deaths in the U.S. between March 1 and May 30 in years prior to 2020. They then subtracted the expected number of deaths each week from the documented deaths between March 1 to May 30, 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic had hit.

Daniel M. Weinberger, associate professor of epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health, and colleagues included 48 states and the District of Columbia in the study, but excluded North Carolina and Connecticut due to issues with data.

The data accessed on June 12, 2020 revealed approximately 781,000 people died in the U.S. between March 1 to May 30, 2020, including 122,300 excess deaths compared to previous years.

It's not the masks that are giving these people breathing issues... it's being a buck-fiddy overweight while stuffing their faces with garbage all day long.

So much for that medical degree....

Swedish govt just announced that the rule of 2 meters distancing in restaurants/bars is now reduced to 1 meter. Also, all hospitals in Stockholm have now returned to normal operations as the instance of COVID patients has reduced to the point where they no longer need and special facilities.

As we talked about months ago, this is the real number to watch.  By the time election night comes around we will have a full 6 month period to compare.
