The big problem with the US response has been the utter lack of coordination, teamwork, etc. and the very visible and obvious decision by both sides to make this nearly entirely political. Trump in the lead position obviously. A total sheet show and disgrace.

It's not, a brutal, preventable death count is maximum politcal carnage. If anything we'd be trying to save Trump from himself. From a purely political standpoint, the politicians that caused deaths are going to be in MUCH shakier ground than the ones that emptied the coffers.

I mean, I get less testing would mean less known positive cases. That’s not exactly a flex in my mind.

Literally everyone I know with kids has said if they are given the home schooling option they are 100% taking it. None of them want their kids anywhere near that many people at once and then coming back into their homes. This pandemic isn't over. No matter how hard some people seem to want it to be. And frankly, sending your kids into groups of 100 or more and then having them return home is a HIGHLY EFFICIENT METHOD of spreading this disease.

I've got plenty of teacher friends, you only need to a 5 minute convo to understand the total ClusterF of a situation they have on their hands. It's almsot mathematically impossible to not get COVID spending 8 hrs /day with hundreds of sniffling germ sponges. The kids are actually the LEAST of the worries, this goes right through them. Its the teachers who are older and more prone to die. It's the CRAZY ARSE parents who will be freaking out and ready to sue the schools into the ground over negligence. Now all of that said, I immediately came to the conclusion that this coming school year is going to truly separate the rich from the poor in a visceral form that will shock us as a society. Middle class to poor kids will have NO CHOICE. The kids will have to go to school and the few teachers that are healthy and willing to teach them are going to get crushed. Meanwhile, the rich schools will do everything remotely with child care, VR sets and managable online class sizes. That's really the only way I see this playing out. You think June was crazy with class war strife, wait til the f'ing schools open mates.
