My daughter had one in Fargo too and she was tested and came back negative I'm just joking around. I'm about an hour and a half outside of Philly and we don't have any testing

Mistakes can certainly happen in such a hectic situation like this, but I think the overall picture painted by the numbers is accurate. We have a major problem on our hands, and no good can come from downplaying it. Keep rocking that mask!
July 17, 20205 yr What your President and the govt of Fl don’t understand is positive cases don’t equal people. Each side trying to spin this and they’re leaving most of the general public misinformed. My nephew lives in Miami. He travels some for his job but they have mostly been working remotely. When Pa was in lockdown he still flew up here and was a pallbearer for Mr Di. I had no issue with it. I hugged and kissed him. He wants to come up for another very small family function but is being asked to come 2 weeks early. He had a rapid test a few days ago and is negative. He is smart and being responsible. My daughter has been here, going home, being with her bf who works at a Lowe’s. We’re exposed maybe but keeping away from anymore people then what is feasible to live a semi normal life. Since March. She told me after they worked out student’s schedules the district has come up with a bus schedule so it has to be re-done. All while working to improve the virtual learning aspect. A total nightmare for her. There is no current principal at her elementary school so she is doing a lot. A lot. I hope it’s not all for nothing. I just don’t get it. I am willing to stay as distant as I can from others, wear a mask until a vaccine is ready. I’m still free and grateful that I am.

Hell the bars and restaurants have been open for a couple months now Phase 3 of our reopening begins here in Ontario tomorrow. Restaurants were allowed to reopen in Phase 2 but only if they had an outside patio area or if they were able to setup some kind of tent in their parking lot. Tomorrow they're allowing restaurants and bars to open with a cap of 50 people indoors and with proper distancing. No dancing in bars so you won't see any chicks up there grinding dudes deeks off. Outdoor gatherings will also be increased from 10 to 100. Of course, nearly everywhere has indoor public mask policies either in effect or going into effect tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see if cases rise or not in the next 2-4 weeks.

We had all that going on and now we are back to closing bars that don't serve food and a 25 people limit on bars and restaurants and no night clubs. Only took about 3 weeks for us to go back to where we were

We didn't have a spike or even a noticeable increase in cases when we went from Phase 1 to Phase 2 in the reopening plan, but this step is definitely more aggressive and wide-ranging. The government here has made it pretty clear that they'll yank this phase if the data suggests things are going in the wrong direction, so hopefully everyone is on their best behavior.

July 17, 20205 yr @Phillyterp85, maybe you can help me here. I thought I saw something in a comment on Facebook the other day that suggested the actual death rate from COVID in the U.S. might be more on the order of like 3-4%. They linked to an institutional study, and I wanted to go back and read it but couldn't find it later. Do you know anything on this front?
July 17, 20205 yr I will tell you guys this... My wife is a RN and works on the Orthopedic floor of her hospital.Which is no longer used as such. The hospital system owns 4 hospitals in our area. Back when this pandemic started, they converted ONE floor of ONE hospital to a covid only floor. People not there for any other reason other than covid OR if they were there for something else and tested positive for covid. Fast forward to today..... All 4 hospitals have specific entire floors for covid positive people who are too sick to go home. 2 of the hospitals have 1 floor. 2 have 2 floors now. So, 6 total floors. Today they filled their last bed. So... another floor needs to become a covid only floor. Now heres the kicker... Hospital 1 = 3 floors Hospital 2 - 4 floors Hospital 3 - 4 floors Hospital 4 = 5 floors 16 total floors. 6 currently at capacity with covid only sick patients. 1 more likely opening tomorrow. So 7 of out 16 floors across 4 hospitals are nothing but sick people with covid..... And thats AFTER 36 PEOPLE DIED IN THE LAST 48 HOURS OUT OF THOSE 6 FLOORS. So ya. Its fake. The numbers are a lie. No ones really sick.... FOH with that bs. Tell that to my wife who STILL comes home every day, undresses in the garage, straight to the shower, with bruised ears and gouge marks across her nose and eyes from the PPE that she wears for 11hrs of the day.
July 17, 20205 yr That's horrifying WTF. No way to get around the number of hospitalizations with an absolute # of known beds. Wishing you and wife safeness!!! What part of FL are you in?

I saw that huge spike in deaths in Lee. 11% of the total deaths since the beginning, all overnight. I figured there must have been a nursing home outbreak or two, otherwise that is very concerning.

You are familiar with the area, so you can figure out who my wife works for. From what she has seen and heard today at work, about half that died had been in the hospital and the other half either died at home/in facilities/or just admitted to the hospitals.

What part of FL are you in? SW FL. Whats making it impossible to count is the amount of people NOT in the hospitals. Positive, Negative, Asymptomatic, etc... Who freaking knows how many people have it, or are just spreaders of it. We will never know. Not even remotely close to knowing.

Sorry to hear about your wife man. My wife's best friend/would-be maid of honor's whole building was converted to a COVID unit for her hospital system. It's incredibly taxing, she was a wreck last we talked to her. We've all had varying degrees of sheet piled on us through this whole thing but the front-line workers are on a different level right now.

Wife text me a few minutes ago and right now and I am livid..... The staff has been told that if they test positive BUT are asymptomatic, they are expected to work as usual. W..T..F.. She is legit thinking about quitting today. I cant wait to see this email from them leak to the local media later today. Ill post it here when does. Unreal. This system has laid off, and forced into retirement HUNDREDS of seasoned nurses and doctors over the last few months due to budget hits from losing elective surgeries. Now they are short staffed and forcing people to work who test positive but arent sick? Unbelievable.

July 17, 20205 yr Thats actually been the CDC guideline for essential hospital workers for a while now believe it or not. I think they worry they wont have enough staff if asymptomatic employees are missing work.
July 17, 20205 yr Soooo we're worried about asymptomatic people spreading it around, but we're OK with asymptomatic healthcare workers spreading it to already sick people in hospitals? JFC
