JFC I think the calculus being done is that, while COVID-19 positive RN's represent a risk, the alternative of not having enough healthy hospital staff to treat sick people at all would be much more devastating. That's my guess.

The staff has been told that if they test positive BUT are asymptomatic, they are expected to work as usual. W..T..F.. She is legit thinking about quitting today. I cant wait to see this email from them leak to the local media later today. Ill post it here when does. Unreal. This system has laid off, and forced into retirement HUNDREDS of seasoned nurses and doctors over the last few months due to budget hits from losing elective surgeries. Now they are short staffed and forcing people to work who test positive but arent sick? Unbelievable. This is insane. Whether she quits or not, your wife is a saint for what she's done.

I think they worry they wont have enough staff if asymptomatic employees are missing work. It should still be used as a last case scenario to preserve staffing if they'd be overrun otherwise. Hospital systems up here have been sending any positive case employees home at least, even in the ICUs. Even employees awaiting tests are home quarantining. To be fair it's kinda sounding as if Mrs WTF's hospital is getting closer and closer to that tipping point from a staff POV though. Whole situation is Fed.

July 17, 20205 yr Good news, governor of Florida is not shutting gyms down and says that if you are in good shape corona cant hurt you. So as long as we all start working out we should be back at work and school in no time.
July 17, 20205 yr Based on this Florida seems to have surpassed the peak cases/day of even New York with no signs of stopping. In case anyone is wondering the other 2 straight lines right around there are Texas and California. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/03/16/816707182/map-tracking-the-spread-of-the-coronavirus-in-the-u-s

They stopped reporting about it to talk about George Floyd, so everyone forgot it existed.

The hospital system owns 4 hospitals in our area. Back when this pandemic started, they converted ONE floor of ONE hospital to a covid only floor. People not there for any other reason other than covid OR if they were there for something else and tested positive for covid. Fast forward to today..... All 4 hospitals have specific entire floors for covid positive people who are too sick to go home. 2 of the hospitals have 1 floor. 2 have 2 floors now. So, 6 total floors. Today they filled their last bed. So... another floor needs to become a covid only floor. Now heres the kicker... Hospital 1 = 3 floors Hospital 2 - 4 floors Hospital 3 - 4 floors Hospital 4 = 5 floors 16 total floors. 6 currently at capacity with covid only sick patients. 1 more likely opening tomorrow. So 7 of out 16 floors across 4 hospitals are nothing but sick people with covid..... And thats AFTER 36 PEOPLE DIED IN THE LAST 48 HOURS OUT OF THOSE 6 FLOORS. So ya. Its fake. The numbers are a lie. No ones really sick.... FOH with that bs. Tell that to my wife who STILL comes home every day, undresses in the garage, straight to the shower, with bruised ears and gouge marks across her nose and eyes from the PPE that she wears for 11hrs of the day. Sorry to hear. My wife works in a hospital in Buck Co, PA. They were down to one COVID patient in the entire hospital last week. The difference between Florida and Pennsylvania is largely about leadership. Wolf took a ton of ish for closing the state and requiring masks, but the results are pretty clear. It's what we have to do.

It's sickening of how these people think.

Biden has a 7 point lead there, which is a crazy turnaround in 4 years. Directly related to Trump's bungling of this thing.

Yep, they cut elective procedures anticipating a large influx of COVID patients that never came, the hospital were basically empty while they were reporting that they were overrun with COVID patients. So after the layoffs they're now reporting that hospitals are full of COVID patients, I'm sure the hospital are still empty. Very shortly you'll be hearing that deaths are skyrocketing from the "cases detected" because there's a 14 day lag......it's all BS folks.

How can anyone look at any of our institutions and say they haven't failed us?

Well I’m just glad I learned today the hospitals that are releasing daily info on their bed capacity and ICU staffed capacity are lying and are empty. And they are canceling elective surgeries because they want to lose millions of dollars. Those sick F’s Follow the money! Follow the money they.... ummm... aren’t bringing in.

They laid off and bought out a ton of staff because they lost a ton of money losing elective surgeries, which are a huge part of the systems income down here in south Florida. The systems census did go down at the very beginning but rebounded to almost normal by early June. My wife's hospital was never empty, as you say. They have been understaffed and overwhelmed since May. Now they are at a breaking point. Maybe if your wife came home looking like my wife does after a 12hr shift on a covid floor, your eyes would open.
