I got tested on Thursday as I wasn't feeling great and I rarely get sick. Headache, congestion, runny nose, diarrhea, fatigue, muscle soreness and weakness.  Got a call this morning.  Positive.   Wife probably brought it home from the hospital.  Feels like something between a cold and flu. I had flu right after coming home from Minnesota for the super bowl and so far that was worse.   My symptoms started on Tuesday so I'm on day 5 of having symptoms.  Breathing is fine.  I have no underlying medical issues.

Sorry to hear man, stay safe. Sounds as if it isn't hitting you all that hard but don't hesitate to reach out to your doc if something doesn't feel right.  It's a tricky SOB.

Ummm. No.  Not here anyways. They laid off and bought out a ton of staff because they lost a ton of money losing elective surgeries,

I'm not sure what the story is now but early when I reviewed COVID-19 I heard reports that the hospitals were empty.

I knew of 3 nurses and spoke to them all, one in NJ, one in the DC/Balt area and one in the Richmond area and they all confirmed that yes, the hospitals were practically empty.

Stay vigilant with it. Everyone I know that had it was fine but there were some ups and downs for some over some weeks.

Its definitely been a strange few days. It started with headaches which i never get. Then the next morning diarrhea.  Later that night sore throat but the headache went away. Next day no more diarrhea,  but still sore throat and congestion/runny nose started.  Now since Friday it's been non stop runny nose, congestion, sweats off and on but no fever.  Been tired feeling more today then any other day.  Have had lower back and thigh soreness/weakness since Friday.

Sorry to hear you are suffering. Get well my friend.

Stay hydrated.  Rest, but try to move around as much as you can (inside and isolated of course).  Try to eat as much as possible (the bland/BRAT diet stuff is mostly nonsense but in general dairy and sugar will make the runs worse). Don't stress too much over the Tylenol vs Advil debate that's out there with COVID, take whichever one helps you more.  Just keep in mind that Ibuprofen/Aleve will tear up your stomach if you take it without food.  Pay attention to any new symptoms and run them by wifey and/or your doc.  A quiet/dark/cool room is better for headaches.  Keep yourself occupied/sane.

Bummer bro, hope you kick it quickly.  Keep us posted on your progress.  Would be interested to hear how you progress.

Also, you realize that you basically have a get out of jail free card, now, right?

Again I've seen it.  He goes into details on the global issues of international vaccine liabilities/PREP act and responses, but provides nothing as far as facts or examples of gross incompetence as far as the national federal response at the time.

Discussing the retrospective need of more coordinated liability/distribution laws regarding vaccines for global pandemics is not even remotely in the same ballpark as what we're discussing when it comes to the poor federal COVID response.  There is no equivalency here.

Right, I forgot....Looking at Biden's after the fact plan with the benefit of hindsight is a much better way to determine how he would have done.  Any idiot could create in retrospect and look like a hero.

Keep us informed as to how you're doing. And I hope you get better. Like people had been saying, move as much as you can. Breathe as hard as you can as much as possible so it doesn't settle in your lungs.

Did you lose any sense of taste? That seems to be another thing that makes it's presence known.

Now now, don't try to straw man your way out of this. Not once with you did I mention Biden's COVID proposal. We were discussing the real-time response of Obama (and by proxy Biden) to H1N1.  You tried to make it out as a disaster based on a quote from a political aide, which in full context focuses on how things like international liability law after the vaccine was approved could be done better in the future.  I pointed out that 1) assuming that the response would have been static if H1N1 turned out to be more deadly/contagious is just silly and 2) mistakes made at that level of things like international liability law are not even in the same solar system as, for example, attacking your own CDC, making state reps kiss your arse in order to get relief funds, and publically pushing for less testing so numbers don't look as bad.

It' was a very weak example and a completely ridiculous equivalency to try and prove your point that Biden would also be bad in a pandemic.

As of today i can still smell and taste. I have been really curious to see if i lose those senses. Will do on the breathing!

Must have been one of your brethren that mentioned Biden's plan, my apologies; I can't tell you guys apart.  I've stated repeatedly that Obama and Biden DID push for less testing H1N1.  Trump has blown this out of proportion saying that they stopped it all together. In fact they just asked states to stop reporting cases three months after it broke out.  Still though, it was an intentional move to quell the public and manage the panic.  I support/ed this decision.  I do not support it now for Covid, but at some point it probably makes sense.

The CDC was woefully unprepared for this pandemic and deserves scrutiny.  The WHO was complicit in the inaccurate messaging regarding the communicability of this pathogen.  Now, do I like the way that Trump handled these criticisms?  No, I don't.  But, I do think they were warranted?  Yes, I do.

The kiss the ring argument is a cute liberal talking point that just isn't accurate.  Governor's got exactly what they needed as soon as it could be provided.  The engagement of the private sector to meet the needs of the pandemic is probably the best public / private sector collaboration since WW2.  Upon gubernatorial request, PPE, beds and ventilators all were conjured from near zero reserves to meet the needs of state heath systems...regardless of their politics.

For the record (again)...I think there are a million things Trump, Pence and Fauci could have done better in their Covid response.  These shortcomings ought to be scrutinized and learned from.   But this notion that Biden would some how handled this MUCH better is complete conjecture.  I'm arguing that their H1N1 response suggests the opposite.

Well, the hope anyway is that once you've had it you're immune....at least for a period of time.  Just trying to fund a bright side for ya. 🥴

Obama/Biden did not push for the change in testing protocol, the CDC drove that decision.  Given the disease progression and situations yes, completely different situation.

 Are you completely out of your mind? First of all we've had multiple state officials at this point confirming that "cute little liberal talking point".  Not to mention all the nonsense with him "ordering" companies to make ventilators/masks under the DPA until mid march without confirmed production until late april, and half the time he did while trying to pass the blame to those companies for not contributing earlier.

And I will accept that no leader could have handled this perfectly.  I will also accept that the US response to H1N1 could have been better.  I (again) will point out that the inadequacies of the federal H1N1 response are drops in the buckets when it comes to the inadequacies in the federal response to COVID.

It's insulting that anyone would even try to compare the two. Come on.
