Between trying to keep my company going, and my family healthy and fed, I've been beyond busy Rainman. The posts I've made have been the rare driveby. I haven't had time to dig through your data or I would have. You, (and many others here) take this place way too seriously. Here's the reply to your data. Most of the "excess deaths", as if averages are guarantees to begin with, are because people have been delaying, or ignoring care, as I originally said. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2020/investigations/coronavirus-excess-deaths-heart/ lol please. We're all busy Zuke. Spare me the sob story, you've been spending far more time on this board than me it would seem. You weren't too busy to partake in the back and forth discussion we were having, nor too busy to be posting in other threads. But apparently didn't have 5 minutes to take a look at data. Yeah, ok................. Nothing in that link is in disagreement with what I said. My main point was that the "official" COVID death count is an UNDERCOUNT, not an overcount. (something that you disagreed with). Your own link acknowledges that the official covid death count is an undercount.
August 13, 20205 yr Going to Breitbart and Trump's twitter feed to copy and paste talking points in CVON is Zuker's thing. Actual reading... not so much. Asking for any kind of analysis from Zuker is more than a bridge too far.

August 14, 20205 yr Latest report from Sweden. The number of deaths per week continues to dive and is now down to about 30 country wide couple weeks back for the latest fully confirmed week. The projections for last week and this week are dipping down toward 10 cumulative across the country for the week. On the negative side we've had a very slight increase in the % of positive tests vs. negatives tests and a very slight increase in for example people being admitted into the COVID wards. There has also been a small outbreak in a couple of nursing homes (small numbers in the single digits of patients but still...). A mixed message. Let's see if this means we are starting a 2nd wave or if this is just a stats blip as we get closer to the zero levels.
August 14, 20205 yr What's the testing situation in Sweden? How accessible are they, and how much of the population is getting tested regularly vs. just when they exhibit symptoms? The best way to head off outbreaks, it seems to me, would be to somehow be able to randomize testing or at least regularly test sufficient samples of the population across geographic zones to be able to identify if the virus level is increasing anywhere. That's hard to do in a nation like the US where compliance with such a policy cannot be legally compelled, and I don't think Sweden is different in this regard. But in terms of the ability to identify and respond to potential hotspots, it seems optimal.
August 14, 20205 yr Returned from Myrtle Beach last weekend. Woke up with a persistent cough this morning. Nice knowing you all 😬

God, you're so annoying though.

Testing was non existent mostly (only people who were sick or worked in the health care industry) until about June. After that it has been available in a wide spread manner and the numbers of testing has shot up. Testing is totally voluntary though other than in the medical field and for people admitted to hospitals. Also, there have been a few random projects that were done with randomized testing as well. As for hot spots, we haven't had any since back in March/Apr when the bigger towns (Stockholm/Gothenburg/Malmö) were hit.

I think I can get one that way if he thinks I have it. Right now I have a cough but feel otherwise fine. My wife and kids and everyone else who went on the trip feels fine right now. I was hoping I could just pop in and out somewhere and get a test done but that doesn't seem possible where I am. What would be really weird is if I didn't get it on the trip but somehow got it by going to the food store after we got back. While going to myrtle beach sounds risky, we were really careful. We stayed in the house and went out on the beach. On the beach we stayed far away from other people. We didn't go out to eat or to any other public place while down there (just the grocery store).

Do you have an Urgent Care in your area? I know they seem to be knocking them out (for a nice fee of course).

Even if you get the test, it took me 14 days to get results. There's the rapid test, which of course is faster. But it's thought to be less reliable.

Yeah my wife had to get tested for work and it took that long. In 14 days I would probably know for sure anyway right?
