September 25, 20205 yr There is a fellow employee here that has been out sick all week. Tested twice and being told not covid. My daughter is describing a burning in her chest and doc gave her a low dose anti-anxiety to try. She is maid of honor in a friends wedding and has planned the 25 person shower which is tomorrow. As you know, she's a reading specialist and surely is still mourning the loss of her Dad. I am hoping doc is right and it's anxiety. Welcome, fall. Change of seasons. What a stressor to not know if you have allergies, a cold, flu, or covid.

September 25, 20205 yr Updated stats in Sweden as expected. Postive rates in tests have risen from a low of 1.2% up to 1.6%. Still very low and much lower than other Euro countries but the rate has risen from the lowest rate of 1.2% that we hit a few weeks back. All other numbers are at their lowest rates, e.g. deaths per week, etc. OR flat such as admitted COVID patients. I don't have an updated R-number yet. I'll see that early next week So, in summary, a rise from super low to very low in the rate of postive tests with everything else holding. The next few weeks will spell out how large this bump ends up being. There was a bump in the 1st half of August as well so this wouldn't be the first cycle. We are likely to see a pattern emerging here like in other places but with the range of the curve being in the very low levels. If that holds we will end up with one large wave overall followed by a bunch of tiny bumps in Sweden. WAY too early to know though. We could also just be starting a massive 2nd wave.

Absolutely. Around here we have locked up and opened up a full 3-4 circles by now. Every single time, we open up, ESPECIALLY the bars, LIKE CLOCKWORK, 2-3 weeks later cases, hospitalizations and deaths soar. And every time we lock up , especially the bars, LIKE CLOCKWORK within 2-3 weeks the cases plummet. Now they are trying stricter mask rules, specifically see of it helps open up businesses like bars which simply can't take it any longer. But, of course, working against these measures to try and save the bars, are the arseholes who frequent them and think the masks and the pandemic which has killed 200K plus americans is a scam.

It's calmed down from when it was REALLY bad but new cases being reported is still 2,500 - 3,000 daily, deaths being reported daily around 150, and positivity rate I believe is around 11%. It's way too early IMO, but i'm not surprised. Season is around the corner so all the snowbirds and tourists come to town, so gotta make that $$$. The governor gave up on the guidelines he put in place for reopening.

Yeah of all the things that could us, this is probably the least concerning. I’m more worried about all that asbestos my high school had and the lead paint from the matchboxes we used as teethers back in the day.
