So my boss is at home with a fever and isn't going to get tested and coming back into work tomorrow..... Guess I won't be seeing my mom for a couple of weeks. These people just don't get it.

WTF - how can he? she?  even say the fever will be gone by tomorrow if it wasn't COVID?  It's annoying when people come to work sick with anything communicable.  It's so inconsiderate.

Good news on the BioNTech trial data, they are saying current estimates are leading them to believe vaccine induced immunity should last for at least a year based on the antibody and T-cell levels observed.

Say what you will about the election, but to me, this is far better news! F'ing awesome and insanely phenomenal work by the biotech community. And a first of its kind genetic vaccine no less! The speed and progress here is revolutionary. So F'ing pumped right now.

This news is way better than any news we've gotten for pretty much the year.

Mark Meadows was at the same party, infectious, and without a mask on of course. F'ing idiots, the lot of them.

He is a he and he knows my mom's situation and he knows I go to see her daily

Yep, and the bigger takeaway is that not only is the BioNTech Pfizer candidate looking good, but so will all the candidates that target the spike protein.

So as hoped, we'll have a few options to work with when it comes to doling these vials out.

Do you have an n95 mask?

Bloomberg headline, kicking Donnie when he is down

No, I have an underarmor sports mask

That's a really nice one, though if you think you're going to be exposed to someone who's actively infectious, you should try to get an n95 mask.

So say everything works out, are we likely looking at annual booster shots going forward?

Not necessarily. This is just the first crack it. Very plausible that the immunity either lasts longer than a year, or that a second round of vaccines next year are that much more effective and result in us going years before needing a booster. The novavax candidate, for example, had a very strong t-cell level response, so immunity could be even longer when that one gets authorized in the spring.

Super positive outlook right now, and further proof that all the herd immunity horseshit was as ghoulish as it gets. We just need to get through this winter and we'll finally be able to stem the tide on this awful F'ing thing.

Is this one initially 2 shots?  2nd after 30 days?

Yes, 28 days between doses. The J&J candidate is the only one I recall in late stage trials that's a single dose solution.

Never change idiots

Mike Pence has broken his post-election silence to trumpet the Trump administration’s backing of a new coronavirus vaccine - only for the company to immediately point out that the research and development of their vaccine had nothing to do with the government

We've already got both sides of the family subtly trying to make Christmas plans already. The wife and I have already discussed it and we're content to just finally have a lazy Christmas day where we cook our own dinner, don't leave the house, and let the kids just relax at home with their gifts.

This one was a legit WTF cringe face reaction.  Yikes.

I think I too am a game time decision.  Unless my brother just cancels the whole dang thing.  Not like anyone would get mad if I just stayed home.

We have a pretty big family, and my dad's parents are both in their mid-80s, so we decided to not be having the traditional large gathering for Thanksgiving. I wouldn't expect much to have changed by Christmas, either.

God I would kill for that.  My wife would want no parts of it because she's a people pleaser and would feel guilty about not seeing her family.  They don't seem too concerned with the virus despite both my MIL and FIL being high risk.

I'm selfish about Thanksgiving though.  I love it.  The food makes it my favorite holiday.  Christmas I could do without.

Well my mom just got out of the hospital and is on oxygen. She has lung disease. Like I said management knows this. Yet they continue to just ignore it SMH. Even if there wasn't a virus my mom is very frail a cold would take her out right now.

These people are a real piece of work. My gf's mom is married to a Ukrainian idiot who's been very cavalier about the whole thing. Well, surprise, surprise, it turns out he has COVID. The part that pisses me off, though, is that he was apparently feeling sick on  a Saturday, but my gf's mother had her come over to the house on Monday to pick up a dessert. Well, now we're pretty damn sure the mom has COVID, too, we're just awaiting test results for confirmation. She was only with her mom for about 15 mins and the husband wasn't there, but the fact that he was feeling sick just two days earlier but her mother thought it was perfectly fine to invite her daughter into the house is just idiotic. To top it all off, the husband is always shuttling back and forth to Philly for whatever Ukrainian racket he's currently involved in (This guy has run an "ambulance company," "dry cleaners," and now it's "grocery stores"), so this moron got sick on a Saturday, then travelled to Philly the next day while sick, then found out on Wednesday that he has COVID. I'm not sure what the instructions were that he was given then, but I'm assuming he was told to stay in Philly and not travel back to Central PA. He has some property in the Philly area as far as I know, but his elderly mother lives in the house. I don't know whoever consulted him knew this, but he ended up quarantining with her in that house, so now his mom also has COVID.  :chair:
