It's annoying when people come to work sick with anything communicable. It's so inconsiderate.
November 9, 20204 yr Good news on the BioNTech trial data, they are saying current estimates are leading them to believe vaccine induced immunity should last for at least a year based on the antibody and T-cell levels observed. Say what you will about the election, but to me, this is far better news! F'ing awesome and insanely phenomenal work by the biotech community. And a first of its kind genetic vaccine no less! The speed and progress here is revolutionary. So F'ing pumped right now.

Yep, and the bigger takeaway is that not only is the BioNTech Pfizer candidate looking good, but so will all the candidates that target the spike protein. So as hoped, we'll have a few options to work with when it comes to doling these vials out. 2 minutes ago, Bwestbrook36 said: He is a he and he knows my mom's situation and he knows I go to see her daily Do you have an n95 mask?

Very plausible that the immunity either lasts longer than a year, or that a second round of vaccines next year are that much more effective and result in us going years before needing a booster. The novavax candidate, for example, had a very strong t-cell level response, so immunity could be even longer when that one gets authorized in the spring. Super positive outlook right now, and further proof that all the herd immunity horseshit was as ghoulish as it gets. We just need to get through this winter and we'll finally be able to stem the tide on this awful F'ing thing.

November 9, 20204 yr Never change idiots Mike Pence has broken his post-election silence to trumpet the Trump administration’s backing of a new coronavirus vaccine - only for the company to immediately point out that the research and development of their vaccine had nothing to do with the government

Not like anyone would get mad if I just stayed home.
November 9, 20204 yr We have a pretty big family, and my dad's parents are both in their mid-80s, so we decided to not be having the traditional large gathering for Thanksgiving. I wouldn't expect much to have changed by Christmas, either.

God I would kill for that. My wife would want no parts of it because she's a people pleaser and would feel guilty about not seeing her family. They don't seem too concerned with the virus despite both my MIL and FIL being high risk. I'm selfish about Thanksgiving though. I love it. The food makes it my favorite holiday. Christmas I could do without.

Like I said management knows this. Yet they continue to just ignore it SMH. Even if there wasn't a virus my mom is very frail a cold would take her out right now.

Guess I won't be seeing my mom for a couple of weeks. These people just don't get it. These people are a real piece of work. My gf's mom is married to a Ukrainian idiot who's been very cavalier about the whole thing. Well, surprise, surprise, it turns out he has COVID. The part that pisses me off, though, is that he was apparently feeling sick on a Saturday, but my gf's mother had her come over to the house on Monday to pick up a dessert. Well, now we're pretty damn sure the mom has COVID, too, we're just awaiting test results for confirmation. She was only with her mom for about 15 mins and the husband wasn't there, but the fact that he was feeling sick just two days earlier but her mother thought it was perfectly fine to invite her daughter into the house is just idiotic. To top it all off, the husband is always shuttling back and forth to Philly for whatever Ukrainian racket he's currently involved in (This guy has run an "ambulance company," "dry cleaners," and now it's "grocery stores"), so this moron got sick on a Saturday, then travelled to Philly the next day while sick, then found out on Wednesday that he has COVID. I'm not sure what the instructions were that he was given then, but I'm assuming he was told to stay in Philly and not travel back to Central PA. He has some property in the Philly area as far as I know, but his elderly mother lives in the house. I don't know whoever consulted him knew this, but he ended up quarantining with her in that house, so now his mom also has COVID.
