People want to hide behind HIPAA but I think at some point there has to be some liability for knowingly putting people at risk. They can disclose there has been an exposure without naming names (even if it's obvious who it is) and should be taking the proper measures of contact tracing and having anyone who was directly put at risk to stay at home, get tested and quarantine until the results come back. Well according to them he got it over the weekend when he was off so no one in the store was exposed. They have their own idea of contact tracing which is making sure they don't have to pay anyone for being out when they get it.

Could be, but the biggest issue is the lack of long-term data on the effects survivors are suffering through. Brain fog is a very common symptom described in those who experienced even just moderate disease and one that not easily ascribed to simply being in lockdown. We already know how well this virus binds to ACE-2 receptors, so it's very likely that it's more than mere correlation at play. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7334623/

I know someone who states they have to smoke to feel normal. Their normal is pretty Fing paranoid then.

So people in certain situations can make personal decisions on what is best for them and be more cautious. Also it's obvious as to had it when they just stop showing up for 10 -14 days.
November 10, 20204 yr Lost in the chaos of the election and the outstanding Pfizer news, is the report of a strain of sars-cov2 spilling over to minks and then back to humans in Denmark. This is potentially extremely troubling news. Even with vaccines providing sterilizing immunity in humans, the numbers worldwide will still take several years to get under control, but if this virus finds refuge in zoonotic reservoirs, it'll make those efforts exponentially more difficult.

If anyone tests positive security does an investigation to see who they came into contact with recently and anyone who was close to them gets sent home to test. Though the new chick I’m seeing is a 7th grade teacher and 14 year olds are morons so...

Sounds like Denmark is planning on culling its entire mink population. Pretty crazy to think about, but highlights the severity of the problem.

Absolutely the right thing to do, they have no other option. But the concerns stem from the fact that while this spilled over into captive minks today, what other wild species can it spill over into tomorrow where our chances of controlling it are much smaller. Each successive hop carries news risks of course, seeing as how that's exactly how this ish storm all got started in the first place.

Completely irresponsible of them given the transmission back to humans has already been confirmed.

That came out a few days ago right? I think they had to cull thousands of minks right? Edit: nevermind

My niece is doing that now after leaving LA in Mar and is working for St Joe’s U. At least she has a chance in succeeding tracing being it’s a campus, but in the general public these folks are just doing what they want. If they even know someone they’ve been around could be contagious. I feel what maybe our saving grace this fall/winter is the treatments. So thank you for that!

My sister in law is doing something similar up in New England. It's such a clusterF, I don't envy them right now. I think the spike is going to be bad but we're at least much better prepared. Still, the wait times in a lot of our COVID testing sites have really started to creep up recently as the case numbers increase.
