You can go to parler if you need a safe space because my words hurt your feelings. And everyone you interact with in person would all be better off if you would stop defending Sweden's insane anti-mask policies, understand the basics of science, and cover your face.

I was mainly thinking of you. Personally I’m fine if you continue.

I get schools not wanting to overreact. At the elementary school level outbreaks have been very rare globally. It's the upper classes and colleges that have seen bigger issues.

We're on our 3rd month of hybrid. Two of every four teachers is teaching a smallish traditional class, and the other two teachers are hybrid and virtual.

We have no idea if we're going to get assigned the same teacher, or if we're going to be shuffling kids around. Some that go virtual night not even be assigned a teacher at the same school.

It's stupid.

we've been in full for elementary schools for over a month and have had one case in our school.  wasn't in either of my kids classes.   they're doing a good job keeping the classes and kids segregated so if it happens they can shut the class down.  Basically they don't leave their own classroom except for a brief socially distanced recess.  I'm actually pretty pleased with how they're doing it.  probably safer than their home life styles in many cases.

The school I work for has had 2 positive cases in the upper school - nothing so far in the lowers and pre. They are also doing a good job by podding and doing contact tracing, and informing parents whenever there is a risk - like if someone has a fever in the grade which obviously happens somewhat often with kids and usually is not Covid related. Anyway so far none of the adults have been infected. They shut down the upper school through Thanksgiving just to be safe. Until the weather turned they were doing a lot of outdoor learning. We also have a pretty long winter break every year so hoping that keeps some of the spread down among our school community.

Do they give a real reason as to why cases have spiked like crazy all of a sudden?  Dem dems is real smart!

Democrats are science-denying grandma killers. There's simply no other way to explain it. Look at the sheer ignorance. These people don't care who they hurt.

yeah I'm less worried over the idea of moving from hybrid to traditional than I am about reshuffling the kids from one teacher to another after a couple months.

And four tests reported as positive

I'm working from home today.  My work is super scary slow (just my particular section).  Woke up not feeling so hot, not self inflicted, trying my best to keep the paranoia under control.  Being home, I have distractions.  Pretty sure it's just cold like.  Have plenty of vitamins, soup and tea.

We started hybrid and then went full traditional.  I wasn't really pleased with the full virtual program.  It's really not a great setup for 2nd and 4th graders.  It is a pain for my wife and I to work and keep them on track.  I ended up taking my boy (2nd grade) to my office on virtual days to remove him from the distractions of home (I have my own office and have kept the door shut since we came back from lockdown).  Thing is the kids would be done school work by lunch minus a brief google meet or something in the afternoon.  I just didn't feel they were getting what they need out of it.  They did keep their same teachers throughout so there was no shuffling and both their teachers have been awesome.

Brazilians must stop being "a country of sissies” about the coronavirus outbreak, the country’s far-right president has said.

"All of us are going to die one day. Everyone is going to die. There is no point in escaping from that, in escaping from reality," Jair Bolsonaro told a press conference on Tuesday.

"We have to stop being a country of sissies,” he added, using the Portuguese word "maricas," a slur against gay people.

at least in the hybrid model we've been using the kids are engaged for the full school day even when remote.

my oldest has the same teacher he had in 4th, which is great because she can be on top of him. he tends to be easily distracted and is a lazy student.

my other kid in 4th will be fine either way. he adjusts easily and is conscientious. if I had two kids like my 4th grader I wouldn't be as concerned over it. each kid is different though.

in general I'm pretty happy with the way the school is handling it. the different models are all operating against the same virtual curriculum, even traditional, and all the work is paperless which helps keep potential virus transmission low. and it helps continuity if the school is forced into a position where it has to have everybody go virtual. it's well thought out, I just don't understand the reasoning behind eliminating one of the options when things seem to be moving along well. If they explained it better maybe I'd understand.

Why isolate at home when you can spend a bunch of money to go isolate somewhere else

Because isolating at home doesn't have beach front views and room service?

In a certain sense, Domino's delivery is a form of room service.

Not true

I have auto immune disease and I’m always vitamin D deficient because of it. I supplement with higher doses than most and sometimes they have to marinate me in a super high prescription dose until my levels come up.  It’s one of my fears with catching the virus - both the auto immune and vitamin d issue.

Yes that's just to get there. You missed the fine print.

  • Guests who spend 14 days in a COVID-19 certified property may then leave the property and travel freely within Saint Lucia

Yeah I'm not going to an island to travel around it. I'm going to get drunk on the beach
