I've never had In 'N Out and I've heard it's both awesome and overrated.. I want to try it just to see what the hype is, even though I don't eat a lot of fast food anymore. I guess I'm kind of like your bro in that I like to plan things when I travel.. I always like to see or experience the best of a few things... but I'm also extremely spontaneous which actually drives paco nuts. Oversleeping is common while on vacation. paco and I stayed up almost all night in Rome one evening because we were enjoying the Grappa a little TOO much. We were at the Waldorf and they have those iron clad electronic shutters that you can put down that shut out ALL light. We woke up dazed and still drunk the next morning and I went into full panic mode because we missed our train to Venice - a first class with wine and meal experience I had all planned out. Instead we were stuck with the Plebes in coach and handed one warm soda for the whole ride. I was DYING but determined to stay awake and enjoy the Italian countryside. paco was out and snoring the entire time. I'm sure our seat mates were impressed. In 'N Out is impossible to overrate. Those who claim it is overrated are butthurt New Yorkers trying to claim Shake Shack is better.

November 18, 20204 yr Ugh you guys... fries should never be topped. Cheese is fine if you DIP it. Same with ketchup. Otherwise you turn delicious, golden, crispy on the outside fries into a hot mess I'm irish.. don't argue the rules of the potato with me. Tator tots btw can be topped. They are inherently less crispy and the shape lends them to fork eating.

Not a New Yorker, but I've had both and it's a close call. More of a 1A and 1B type of deal, but I'll give In N Out the slight nod since they do more with less (double double is like $4 compared to like $8 for a shack burger?) When it comes to the fries and shakes though, it's Shake Shake hands down. In N Out can't compete there.

November 18, 20204 yr Shake Shack is good but way overpriced. One time I ordered some sort of ice cream dessert and it came out completely melted like soup I guess because they were busy. I did later email customer service and they gave me a free $20 voucher so I do respect them for that.

A good burger, for sure...but not worth the hype or the price tag.

We usually got one of those and also a shake to share. When it comes to the overall meal, Shake Shack wins. When it comes to just the burgers, In N Out by a nose.
November 18, 20204 yr Shake Shack burgers are good. So are the custard shakes. I don't dig the crinkle cut fries. Fresh cut fries, like Five Guys, is where it's at.

Obviously, everything else there is dog sheet, but their fries are the best. Do they inject them with beef juice? I don't know, the cow's not sacred to me, so I'm all for it. Whatever they're doing, it's working.

It was freakin awesome, I don't know how you can say it's overhyped.

Agree, Five Guys has the best fries of the 3, but they're a distant third when it comes to the burgers. And their shakes suck ass.
