November 24, 20204 yr Welp my roommate’s pastor went to church knowing he was positive, and then sent out an email today telling everyone. So that’s fun.
November 24, 20204 yr AZ's press release seems to convey some mixed results from their trials. The impression I get is that efficacy fell a bit short of expectations, and certainly less so than Pfizer and Moderna, but still has a good chance to get approval to add another arrow in the quiver.

Stopping alcohol sales on the biggest night of drinking with a pandemic is looking after the health of its states citizens. It's a health related decision which she has full control over. Doesn't matter anyway Wolf is the one who made the announcement. So he obviously agreed

Can she force gas stations to close to prevent people from fueling up and traveling? Can she change toll rates to discourage people from using a bridge over the Delaware River and coming into Pennsylvania? Can she force supermarkets to close to prevent large crowds from getting Thanksgiving food? Can she force bars and restaurants to close on every subsequent Thanksgiving Eve for eternity in the name of public safety and preventing drunk driving? It's one thing for her to make recommendations to the governor, who signs an executive order. But if the health secretary is the one actually changing the law, then that's a serious problem. People who are unelected, and do not have to answer to the voters for their actions, should basically not have the ability to arbitrarily change or enact laws.

You asked if she had the power to have bars and restaurants to stop serving alcohol the answer is yes. Drink at home for one night who cares. Bars can't serve alcohol unless there is food involved anyways. Also the secretary of health is appointed by the Governor so if you voted for wolf then you get who ever he wants on his administration team.

Because it's one of the biggest drinking nights of the year (also one of the most dangerous nights to be driving late), and bars packed with drinkers willing to be out during a pandemic lowering their inhibitions further creates the perfect conditions for spreading the virus. It's not tyrannical. It's sound public health policy in the current environment. Youcan still buy your beer and liquor for Thanksgiving. Stop just reading headlines.
November 24, 20204 yr Updated info from Stockholm: Data presented today shows 32% of people tested over the last two weeks have antibodies. I'm not going to claim I know what that means in terms of how we should set COVID policy but interesting info. The 2nd wave is now waning with dropping R-number, etc. I haven't seen the final numbers yet but the latest I saw showed admitted patients to be about 50-60% of the 1st wave and deaths still very low as compared to the 1st wave. We'll have to get some weeks behind us to see the actual situation clearly. Politically, there has been a ton of pressure from the outside (EU, WHO, etc.) on Sweden to take more action. The Prime Minister spoke to the nation Sunday evening and asked for a higher degree of diligence. People out and about has dropped a LOT over the last 10 days. Gathering max is now down to 8 in public and alcohol cannot be served after 10pm. Still no action on masks BUT there is increased pressure in the media, etc.

She did it, but I can see the action getting overturned in court. Pennsylvania's ridiculous laws don't affect me because I live in Delaware. We don't have stupid laws like having to order food to order alcohol, because our politicians realize that the virus doesn't understand the difference between sitting at a table for a steak and sitting at a table for a beer. Nevertheless, I will criticize this egregious law passed by someone that doesn't even have to answer to the voting public. There's a lot of business owners and service industry employees who are taking a beating with these laws, and have to take a beating tomorrow night. Many of these businesses could've figured out ways to serve alcohol responsibly and keep people safe into the night, just like the other 49 states are doing.

Yeah right none of these buisnesses are following rules. Why the f would you want to be crammed into a bar packed out the door with a pandemic anyways? She is part of the voting public because the people that voted for wolf have to accept the peoplel he appoints to his administration.

No bars in Pennsylvania are making people sit down to drink, like is being done in other states? Does Pennsylvania law allow a health secretary to pass laws regarding the restaurant industry? I see governors passing these order in other states.

Pennsylvania isn't the only state that requires you to order food to have drinks. Look this crap up yourself . I don't make the effing rules. Don't know why you are arguing over rules I didn't make or give a flying eff about worry about your own state go out drink and get covid . When it pertains to pubilc health yes the secretary of health can make these rules that's their job jackarse.

Some of these religious groups think that the blood of Christ will protect them from Covid. I remember Jews were having underground gatherings in New York City. John I am glad you're feeling somewhat better. I know the tightness from stress. It's a B. My friend said his girlfriend tested positive yesterday. She works as a nurse in a nursing home. He said he felt like he was having very minor symptoms, but he tested negative today. After talking about it, we decided that it was best that my brother stayed in Virginia and not come up. Chances are nothing was going to happen, but now is the time not to take chances. So hopefully he'll be able to come up for Christmas. At the very least it sounds like a lot of people changed their plans. I read on CNN that 61% of the people polled said that they aren't going to be doing what they originally had planned.

November 25, 20204 yr Wait, I thought you weren't supposed to call the cops on people because they murder blacks for fun. Now we're supposed to call on people for not following the virus rules properly?
November 25, 20204 yr No - you only call the police for serious crimes, like not wearing a mask. The drug dealers, rapists, murderers, etc. are cool. Get with the times, brah!
November 25, 20204 yr another big-time trumper facebook friend of mine has the covid....she & her husband have it and suddenly believe it's real. she was one that ran to parler after the election. anyway, i wish them a speedy recovery. sucks that it takes getting covid & getting really sick for some to take it seriously.
