I don't want to hang out in packed bars regardless of a pandemic.  Cool...let's wait an hour to get a drink and then get bumped into by some white girl wasted college age kid and spill it.

So this is what getting old is like.

Going to a bar/club without getting a table is legit torture.

AZ hasn't certified yet. You still have time to demand a recount, and then a recount of the recount after that.

These alerts are so loud when they come over your phone.
Scared the crap out of me.

My national margin prediction might end up being pretty close. Slightly off on turnout too.

2 docs out with COVID and one at home cause their dad died of it in in my wife's practice so she got called to cover today and Saturday. Just took care of a baby of a positive mother in the nursery this AM myself.

My best college buddy is a GP with his own practice. He had the rona couple months back.

It's tough, especially for smaller practices. Staffing gets tight really quickly if a doc or NP goes out for any period of time and a lot of outpatient offices are still struggling financially (although a lot more loans are available and people are better prepared now compared to when it all started).

OBGYN it's kind of a nightmare scenario because for the most part the volume can't change much regardless of how many people call in sick. Babies are gonna come regardless.

In Toronto. This is sick.

So just to give some background on this so everyone understands what's all gone on here...

-Toronto and Peel Region were placed in a 28 day "lockdown" phase last Friday that went into effect this past Monday. The lockdown means that all restaurants can serve take-out only like it was back in the spring. All indoor dining is closed.

-Skelly fully opens his BBQ restaurant early in the week with large crowds swarming the place, many dining inside and without masks.

-Toronto Public Health orders him to cease indoor dining and issues him fines.

-He opens up the following day. Once again, indoor dining, big crowds, etc. Toronto Public Health orders him to close and actually has the locks changed on his business.

-Skelly breaks in to his own business to prepare to open up again, police arrive, and it escalates into the video posted above.

There are rumors floating around out there from people that know him that he actually wanted to get arrested so he can test lockdown orders and all pandemic related restrictions in a court of law. Should be interesting to follow. He's already got $140k raised for his legal defense.

Not sure how it works in Ontario, but I'd be curious to know what he plans on arguing from a legal perspective. Continually failing to comply with orders from the dept of health doesn't have much room for interpretation. Not sure how it would be any different if they inspected his kitchen, found unsanitary conditions, ordered him to shutdown as a result, and he kept refusing to do so. Whether a restaurant is deemed unsafe from a food borne illness or a highly contagious respiratory virus, the dept of health has fairly wide discretion to force businesses to comply with orders in the interests of public health.

Latest weekly Swedish update:

- Basic numbers are as expected and show a flattening of the 2nd wave with the leading indicators now starting to drop (just barely) week on week

- #s of admitted patients is not quite 50% of the peaks back in mid-March to mid-May

- #2 of deaths are at about 20% of peak weeks from mid-March to mid-May

- Excessive deaths have been just about normal over the last two months (perhaps slightly under) after having been solidly under July/August ; mid-March to mid-May were well above normal

- R-number was 1.12 country wide last I saw from the end of last week and dropping ; no updates on positive antibody test but it was 31.9% in Stockholm region end of last week

- Slighty more masks out and about but still no more than 15% of people, general traffic is down but not to the levels back in March-June where the streets were quite empty

- Political debates are up in the media ; some mask discussion but main question is if the overall policy was good or bad ; restrictions are at a height now though people are not following the recommendations as they were back in March-June

So, overall the 2nd wave still looks to be waning BUT way early to reach any final conclusions.  If it ends here we get about 50% of the wave in terms of admitted patients and maybe 25% of deaths.

So Atlas Gym: Canada Style

So I had to send my employee home that I work along side of all day. She didn't feel good and went to get a covid test so she is out until she gets the results back.... Leaving me here which makes absolutely no damn sense. Should I also not be out till the results come back? So they are going to leave me here for 7 days straight and if it comes back positive then I have to leave work for 3 days for the 10 day quarantine... This place is dumb AF with this.

I'm definitely done with covid. When is this nightmare going to be over. There's nothing to look forward to right now. It's a long bleak winter ahead with no hope or sign that things will get better.

The Sweden updates are so painful.  Why don’t y’all wear masks?

Some do and of course everyone has them in places like hospitals, nursing homes, etc.

Vaccines will be a game changer. I'll go so far as to say that if distribution goes off without a hitch, accompanied by some improvements in testing capacity and efficiency, we'll see such a large reduction in community spread that the WHO might declare an end to the pandemic by winter '21 or spring '22.

I think people will lose their effing minds if they lose another summer to this... Lets hope sooner.

Yeah I have to hang out on the couch drinking beer, playing video games, and watching movies. It’s torture.
