December 4, 20205 yr So now Pfizer, BioNTech saying they have already made most of this year's doses...at the reduced 50mm number. Quote Pfizer, BioNTech Already Made Most of This Year’s Vaccine Doses By Naomi Kresg (Bloomberg) -- BioNTech SE said it’s on track to produce 50 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine with partner Pfizer Inc. this year, easing concerns that they might miss production targets. As of Friday, the companies had made the majority of the promised supply for this year, BioNTech said in a statement to Bloomberg. For next year, they’re looking for ways to increase production capacity beyond a promised 1.3 billion doses. The companies’ output is under close scrutiny after Pfizer and BioNTech won the Western world’s first marketing approval for a Covid vaccine with sign-off from the U.K this week. The U.S. and Europe may follow later this month. The partners had originally hoped to produce as many as 100 million doses this year, a target they cut in half on Nov. 9 after changes in regulatory and approval timelines, among other factors, BioNTech said. A Wall Street Journal report Thursday on the adjustment prompted concerns about whether the companies would be able to meet their goals. "We’re ramping up production extremely quickly,” Chief Commercial Officer Sean Marett told Bloomberg Television this week. There’s a long line of countries waiting. The partners have signed supply deals for more than 570 million doses of vaccine and are in talks with more than two dozen countries, Marett said in an interview. BioNTech Chief Commercial Officer Sean Marett says production of the company’s Covid-19 vaccine is ramping up "extremely quickly” as he discusses distribution in the U.K., and pricing for the vaccine. He speaks on "Bloomberg Markets: European Close.” The swift pace of development for the vaccine has posed manufacturing and logistics challenges, with the companies still working on the research needed to show at what temperatures the shots can be stored and shipped. For now, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine requires ultra-low storage temperatures and can be kept in a refrigerator for just five days -- a timeline the companies hope to extend. On Thursday, U.K. Health Secretary Matt Hancock said an initial batch of 800,000 doses will be administered starting next week, and that it was "not unreasonable” to expect 5 million by year-end. The country has pre-ordered 40 million doses, most of which will be delivered in 2021. Meanwhile, Moderna Inc., which is also seeking emergency clearance for a messenger RNA-based vaccine, said it would have between 100 million and 125 million doses available globally in the first quarter of next year. --With assistance from Robert Langreth.

December 4, 20205 yr Finding other people to blame for their own problems seems to be a trademark of a Trump supporter.
December 4, 20205 yr Biden is going to have a tough time asking the country to mask up for his first 100 days in office. People can't even wear the damn thing for 10 minutes without putting up a fuss. A 102 year old woman who had sepsis, cancer and survived the Spanish flu survived Covid TWICE. Yet a healthy 20 year old with no pre-existing conditions dies within days. How does that make sense?

Being driven by jealousy is ugly. Yuuup. I remember talking to a co worker one day, after some football player signed some mega million deal. And she’s like, "can you believe he’s making that much money to play a game? No one is ever gonna pay us that kind of money for our work, and we’re actually providing a service that people need”. To which I replied, "when we can get 70,000 people to fill a stadium every Sunday afternoon to watch us design roads, then we can make that kind of money too. And if you find a way to make that happen, then let me”
December 5, 20205 yr Weekly Sweden update: Basically no changes in the numbers this week. 2nd wave flattening. Otherwise, the govt is worried about the Xmas season as it is very traditional here to meet in quite large groups for several different events. The most important one is the Xmas smorgasbord which is Sweden's version of Thanksgiving.

December 5, 20205 yr Sounds like some states like California and New York aren't even going to come close to the amount of vaccines they get in the first batch compared to how many people they tallied that need it between their front-line workers and their elderly people in nursing homes. At the same time other states like West Virginia are getting more than they actually need. So what happens? Can they ship it to states that need it, or do they have to keep it within their state borders.
