December 8, 20205 yr So Giuliani, an overweight man in his late 70s destroyed coronavirus in a couple days? Is there some link to being a rightwing badass (ie Giuliani/Trump) and not even being slightly phased by the virus? IDK, I'm not a scientist, but I'd say the answer is unequivocally, yes.
December 8, 20205 yr "Even if the facts alleged are true, I would still call her a hero." That line makes the whole thing feel like a political maneuver on Ron's part.

I haven't followed the story, but he seems to be painting her as a whistleblower of some sort? Is this like a Snowden type deal where info was illegally obtained, then leaked, and now you've got people split into camps over whether she did the right thing or not?

December 9, 20205 yr Weekly update from the Doc https://www.nothingbutthetruthmd.com/2020/12/12620-covid-19-update.html This week Dr. Anthony Fauci was asked why the FDA was taking longer than the UK Scientific Advisory Board to make a decision about the mRNA vaccine produced by Pfizer. He responded that the UK was not as careful as the FDA. This was an unfortunate, ill advised, unprofessional response. The FDA's performance through the pandemic has been pedestrian and rightly criticized by many top investigators. In particular, their granting of an EUA for Hydroxychloroquine was an abysmal decision. It should be noted that the UK halted the use of hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of Covid-19. The same cam be said for convalescent plasma therapy which had no chance of working as an antiviral late in the course of an infection where there is absolutely no scientific evidence of live virus after day nine. Last but not least, remdesivir, a drug of questionable benefit that received an EUA instead of being asked to do more investigation. Millions of health care dollars are being wasted. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that the UK was not diligent. UK medicine has a rich history of repeated advances and discoveries beneficial to the health and welfare of mankind.. The next vaccine likely to receive approval is from England, their good work continues. If I had to venture a guess as to why the FDA is taking longer, I would suggest that they are trying to convince the American public, that despite poor performance during the pandemic, they are being diligent. This posturing is costing lives. (in the last five days 12,000 people have died) Make no mistake, we have been studying this virus for less than a year. The mRNA technology is new. There are things we do not know. Most importantly, we are about to embark on a worldwide vaccination program involving billions of people in a short period of time. Unprecedented in the history of mankind. We have given mRNA vaccines to less than 50,000 people and it is likely there will be some surprises when we give it to billions. NEW QUARANTINE GUIDELINES FROM THE CDC 1. Currently 14 days of quarantine are recommended after close contact with a known Covid positive individual 2. New - 10 days of quarantine after close contact with a Covid positive individual with no symptoms during the 10 days, may return to society without testing OR seven days of quarantine without symptoms and negative test at the end of the seventh day may return to society. WMMR (CDC) 12-3-20 THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON IMMUNIZATION PRACTICES INTERIM RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ALLOCATING INTITAL SUPPLIES OF COVID-19 VACCINE - United States, 2020 Kathleen Dooling, MD 1. Demand for Covid-19 vaccine is expected to exceed supply for the first months of the national vaccination program. 2. Federal, State and Local jurisdictions should use the CDC guidelines for Coovid-19 vaccination programs planning and implementation. 3. When vaccine is authorized by the FDA both healthcare workers and residents of long term care facilities should be offered vaccination in the initial phase of the Covid-19 vaccination program. As of 12/1/20 250,000 Covid-19 infections and 858 Covid-19 associated deaths have occurred in health care workers. As of 11/15/20, 500,00 Covid-19 cases and 70,000 covid-19 associated deaths have occurred in long term care facility residents. There are 21 million health care workers and three million long term care facility residents. Authorities are hoping to accomplish this by the end of January 2021. SEROLOGIC TESTING OF UNITED STATES BLOOD DONATION TO IDENTIFY SARS-CoV-2 REACTIVE ANTIBODIES, DECEMBER 2019 - JANUARY 2020 Clinical Infectious Disease 11/30/20 S. Basavaraju, MD Sars-CoV-2 was first identified in Wuhan China in December 2019. Prior to this investigation, the first case identified in the United States was January 19, 2020. Residual archived blood samples from 7,389 routine blood donations collected by the American Red Cross from 12-13-19 to 1-17-20 from donors from nine states (California, Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin) were studied. Samples were tested by the CDC for anti SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. An ELISA platform was utilized in testing for specific IgG and IgM antibodies against the full spike protein. Of the 7,389 sample, 106 (1.45%) were reactive. Ninety samples were further tested for specific neutralizing antibody and 84 of these samples were positive. Of 1,912 donations collected between 12-13-19 and 12-16-19, thirty-nine were positive. (2.0%) These samples had been collected from California, Oregon and Washington. It is apparent that community spread had already begun by then with a 2% presence among volunteer blood donors. We know that it takes approximately two weeks to mount an antibody response to this virus, therefore it is evident that the virus was present in the continental United States as early as November of 2019. From initial introduction, it must have taken some time to achieve such a prevalence (2%) in the population, most likely it was present even earlier than November. It should be remembered that the Spanish Flu appeared almost simultaneously in Kansas and Spain and within days in France. We have no idea how long it had been present in the population before it became recognized as a "new" or different disease entity. NUMBERS DEATHS - 281,121 There have been 12,926 covid-19 deaths in the last five days. We will be well over 300,000 by the end of the year. Case fatality rate since 10/11/20 is holding at 0.98% Hospital bed utilization - is slightly over 101,000 beds and many systems are fully occupied. Hospital admissions have been holding steady at a rate of about 5% of the covid positive population. I therefore expect hospital utilization to continue to rise resulting in restrictions on elective procedures in the coming weeks. New weekly cases - there has been a 10% rise in cases over the previous week. There have been over 200,000 new cases reported each of the last three days. This is daunting and with end of the year Holiday season fast approaching these number will probably increase further. This has been a trying year and for many lonely. The vaccines, in significant numbers, are coming shortly and will have a dramatic effect on our lives over the next six to seven months, but for now we must endure. I am hoping that most will realize that this will not be the usual celebratory season and be content to be alive and exchange virtual greetings. I am looking forward to walking through our neighborhood Christmas Eve and looking at all the colorful lights, snowmen, reindeer and Santa's on the lawns. I am hoping that next year I will be able to hold my loved ones in the warmth of a home and share meals during the Holidays in the usual fashion. Enjoy the day Please live safer

Some of my thoughts: One thing that I am thankful for with all of these updates is that the Doc has been pretty unbiased towards any political aisle or party. He is open to criticizing people who have largely done a good job, such as Fauci. That blood test sample seems to confirm what I had been thinking and saying since the spring: that the coronavirus was here before the pandemic started. I look back at my home state of Delaware last winter: in the 2019-2020 winter, Delaware recorded a whopping 1,000 more flu deaths than any other year in history. One had to assume some of them were coronavirus deaths. These blood tests provide valuable evidence that many flu deaths may have been unattributed coronavirus deaths. Where did you/he see the new CDC guidelines on close contact? My organization (youth sports team) saw the update in late October. With the rise in cases, and my organization seeing its first positive test since returning to competition after Memorial Day, we are refreshing ourselves on CDC guidelines and I don't want to not see that.

It sounds like he might be turning into Trump to me. The second and third of his ideas are already in the works, and Trump has been pushing them hard. I am glad, though, that the most prominent Democrat is pushing for opening schools. With the President and President-Elect both wanting schools open, maybe some of these hyperventilating Governors that are hurting the mental growth of a generation of kids will reconsider so much virtual schooling.
