December 9, 20204 yr Not sure why I bother, but all reports are that the incidence rate for Bell's Palsy is roughly on par with expectations. Meaning 4 out of 20k people is I guess "normal" for this type of disease with most cases resolving on their own after a few weeks. Apparently it's caused by the herpes zoster virus (shingles) and can "activate" as the virus travels up the facial nerves. The FDA will of course very closely monitor all inoculated patients for this knowing that it is of considerable public concern given the scope and scale of this vaccination effort, and personally speaking, I'd feel a lot better had it been something like 3 in the vaccine arm and only 1 in the placebo arm rather than 4-0, but without knowing more about the disease and how it's triggered, I'm willing to defer to those that know far more about the subject than myself.

Yeah, no one cares. Enjoy your Bell's Palsy injection.

December 9, 20204 yr My FIL got it a few years back (from lyme's disease from a tick bite) - we legit thought he had a stroke there for a bit. I forget what medicine they put him on but it cleared up in a week or two if I remember correctly.
December 9, 20204 yr I have a friend who got it from a lyme tick bite too. Some women pay good money for facial paralysis so what the hell. .I'll risk it.

The place is pretty empty right now and I am never in close contact with anyone longer than a minute or two. All meetings are virtual. I wear my mask when leaving the cube. I go home every night to an empty house, do I really want to be there by myself all day as well? I am using a few vacation days and am only here 4 days this week and until Christmas. There's talk of proposing everyone stay home after the holiday, returning around the 14th-18th of Jan. I like that idea not knowing where everyone will be going and who they spend their time with, it may help. We have 2 confirmed cases here, and a few others just went for tests. I know that's not an easy decision to make. Good luck on your decision and God bless. All I can offer is my personal experience: I currently go to work virtual every day from home, except for a couple days per month. Some of my coworkers continue to go to the office every day like nothing has changed. Others I haven't seen since March. You have to find out what works for you and your job. It would be an easier decision to make if they just close the office for the holidays.

More for me, please! I need to move up from 96th in line to at least somewhere in the fifties.
December 9, 20204 yr With half of this face just sliding off his skull, Sloth clearly had a case of ballsdeep palsy

Their allergies were as bad as you can get. People shouldn't let this stop them from getting it. I have seasonal allergies (pollen, etc), which a lot of people have. This won't stop me from getting the shot/shots.

If you were allergic to an earlier vaccination, it makes sense you could have a reaction to this one. If you are one of those few people, you may have second thoughts.... But most of the public need not worry about it. So get your shots!

Pass their shot to someone else who actually cares enough to get it.
