So I tested positive Dec 1st. I’m fine, but I was never contacted for any tracing info.  I even called PA Health number to get ahead of it.  Chose option 2 and discussed situation with rep.  Was told to call again, but choose option 1.  Did that and rep took  name  phone and dob.  Later received call, but all they did was inform me of quarantine guidelines.  Asked about tracing and told her I had pa COVID app on my cell and I should be issued a 6 digit number to register my results with app.  She had nothing to do with tracing and said should I be contacted to give as much info as possible.  On Monday still nothing so went to PA health website and left detailed message of my movements and lack of contact tracing.  Did Walgreens not report test ?  Is tracing system overwhelmed ?  Think you could voluntarily report contact tracing, but I guess not.

Stay well. It seems as if contact tracing isn't a thing anymore. There's a phone app for that now. -_-

There is no national policy or plan. No federal coordination worth a damn.

Your chip is probably malfunctioning.  Does it itch on the back of your neck?

Just shows the total failure of the Federal Government to have a plan.

States lead by democratic governors can't even properly contact trace when a Covid patient is literally wasting his time attempting to volunteer the information. "It's all the federal government's fault!!" 🥴

So you think it's easier for the federal government to coordinate contact tracing for all 50 states rather than allowing singular states to do it themselves? That sure is something.

This place can't be free.

What's the point of contact tracing once you are in full blown contamination of the population and half the population isn't willing to do it?

I wondered how long it would take for them to blame Trump - they certainly didn't disappoint

I'm still waiting for Biden to fix everything like he said he would.  He's got the emanating leadership from every pore thing down to a science - time to move on the bigger things Joe!

Like a broken calendar once a year, you are right.  Even if it is coordinated at a federal level it is still the states collecting the data.

You can watch the FDA's discussion with an independent panel of experts on the vaccine which should lead to it's approval. It's happening right now.

Yes. They should have coordinated with the Governor's of each state and had a plan to contact trace and be funded to implement it. but we have a President who doesn't give a crap about the welfare of the people. How come your God hasn't said a word about the 250k dead or the pain their families are going through? It's because he isn't their President. he is president for himself and his base. You talk about freedom and Support a Dicatator. how Ironic.

Very coherent rebuttal. Thanks.

That’d be a good day, considering over 7,000 people die a day in the US.

That is incorrect, sir.  COVID-19 is the ONLY thing people die of now.

This is pretty much it.

Contact tracing isn't an unskilled task so there's a limited supply of labor. There was a big push to hire recent public health grads/even students to help but we're starting to exceed capacity in a lot of states.  Funding has also been an issue at both the federal and state level for these programs. Even grad students have a limit on what they're willing to work for. The programs were working decently well when the numbers were low over the summer, but not so much now when the numbers jumped.  Schools have been managing their own contact tracing and isolation protocols for the most part so that has helped keep that off the state program's plate at least.

This is how it's supposed to work: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/contact-tracing/contact-tracing-plan/contact-tracing.html

Close contacts should isolate for 14 days even with a negative COVID test.  They recommend  close contacts getting tested so the state can further contact trace but if that's not happening you can just stick with the 14 days.

No failure at all levels of government.

Haven't seen a state doing well. However, leadership starts at the top.

Unless you are a toolwad. Which you are. How's your trolling going, by the way? Everything you hoped for? Enjoying the constant smack downs?

So no coherent rebuttal except for the meaningless platitude of "leadership starts at the top?"  Par for the course for you.

No, state and local governments have a much greater ability of coordinating contact tracing than the federal government, obviously. Orange man bad isn't a blanket defense no matter how many times you say it.

Anyway, how's quarantine life going? Any recent soirées at you kids' houses you'd like to share?

So long as he can come into the coronavirus cvon thread and criticize other people for not taking the pandemic seriously enough to make up for his own recklessness.

Is there even any point to contact tracing at this stage of the game on a larger scale, like states or country itself?

I get it in a small scale such as schools taking it on themselves and I know a lot of buisnesses are doing their own contact tracing as well.

Like you posted, they probably have a million calls a day trying to keep up with this stuff they can't take on every single individual case.

Yes.  It's still the best way to identify and isolate exposures even if you can't keep up with the volume or some people ignore the advice.  Unless you go to full state-wide quarantine, then it would be pretty pointless.

Thank you that was a genuine question. I'm trying to stay as informed as possible so I can shut idiots up when they spew their nonsense. Lol
