It's just a BS way of debating the topic, IMO, and one libs like Paul repeatedly go to. I think both sides of this are talking past each other - I don't like the government mandating much, but I also as a reasonable person am willing to wear a mask and be responsible. And because this has been politicized by both sides, it's like people are using their politics to make their decisions about it, and I find that frustrating and lame. You can be against a gestapo like enforcement but also strongly advocate for the use of masks and the be realistic about the need for them. It's taxing to our healthcare system whether it's old people and fatties dying or young and perfect specimens - it hurts everyone if our hospitals can't serve our communities optimally because of all of this Covid crap.

Anti-vaccine is pretty silly just like not working out and taking care of your body is silly. The health benefits of both are clear and obvious. I don't want anybody to die.

Several times that I can remember, without searching.

Well, I think it's incredibly stupid. I'm also not a defender of obesity either because for the most part there's no reason people should be 150+ pounds overweight in any circumstance.

March 15, 20214 yr I think most people here care about people dying.. but honestly, if your stance keeps coming across as - "it's just old and fat people it's no big deal" don't come crying that people are implying you're being a little cold about some of the harsh realities that people have seen and lived due to this virus.

I have been pretty uninvolved with the mask argument around here for the most part because it's so stupid. Not sure where you're getting any of this from. Got quotes or are you making stuff up again hoping it's right?

I'm surprised that people have this mentality. We're not talking about murderers here. We're talking about people who have weight issues. Not exactly people who should stop receiving sympathy.

It's not exactly black and white. And that isn't the only points he's making. He's being very flippant about who is at risk and who is dying from this. I mean, over half a mill have died from this virus in the US. WAY more than the flu ever has.. so it's clearly a dangerous virus and I don't understand the resistance to being even overly cautious. I have a theory

So what did I do? Immediately start cutting out sugars and as much fat as possible. Joined a gym. Took my boss up on that offer to get a new desk with the ability to raise it to a standing position. Took personal responsibility. I don't understand why we are pumping money towards all of these projects that don't help the root cause of the severe cases: obesity. Put in more parks. Put in more playgrounds. Put money into healthy lunches for kids. Help communities encounter better, healthier food options for stores and shelves within existing groceries. We don't need 250 million vaccinations. Because COVID isn't the only thing killing fat kids. Forest for the trees, and all. Yes we do. This is why we call you stupid. Because you literally are stupid. Only a moron would oppose vaccinating 250M Americans when it's literally the fastest way to return to normal.

I think for some people there are contributing factors like if you're in a wheel chair, have had a significant injury or contributing health condition. I also think that there is this movement to "stop fat shaming" is annoying when it really does take a toll on our health care system and this is an extreme example of that coming to pass - like there are people who try to claim that being fat isn't in and of itself unhealthy, when it clearly is. But it doesn't mean we should be completely cold and treat obesity like leprosy. At the end of the day, this is a harsh and potentially deadly virus - it's a novel virus which our bodies don't have experience fighting off. Even people who are healthy and fit are showing some long-term effects. My sister is having issues with her heart and getting SVTs she never had before, so they are monitoring that. It's scary stuff and no one should brush it off and certainly shouldn't be unconcerned about their kids contracting it.

Even her taste still isn't right and this is many months later.

What I can tell you is that my sister, who was working the COVID unit from the start, has had to hold her phone up to let people facetime with families to say goodbye - this includes old and young people. A few fathers and some with young children, and I know of at least 2 or 3 she's mentioned that looked in shape. One guy was a daily runner and under 40. She's received numerous letters from families all over the country for being with their loved one when they died because no one else could be. She won an award on her unit for her compassion. And she's been privately suffering a lot of mental anguish because of it. But please - keep whining about wearing a mask and not being able to work out at home because your 3 year old loves you too much. And how much of that has happened since October? We had NO IDEA what we were dealing with last spring. That's why we needed to wait. Now what's the reason? Even the hot zones - LA, NYC, etc. - haven't even approached anything close to capacity, yet they California, Ohio, etc. won't release the raw data. Why is that? Because Governor NSDAP is afraid you are going to think for yourself?

March 15, 20214 yr Come on guys... he can't stay in shape because The Man has closed down gyms and his toddler is too obsessed with him making exercise at home completely impossible.

When the toddler says "Where's daddy" mommy can say "Working out" and I can assure you the toddler will accept that and move on without you for an hour. I have it on good authority.
