I’d put Chapelle in the Bill Maher category.

In what way? Chapelle is a much better comedian with a much more diverse set.

As far as his politics

I'd say Bill Burr holds some pretty right wing opinions. Dave Chappelle's most recent Netflix special would probably be considered alt-right to the lib snowflake crowd.

Burr refers to himself as a "lefty" on his podcast, but I'd say his comedy and his personal views that he shares are all over the map. He's pretty consistent in his views and is one of the few comedians that hasn't bowed down to the me too/woke crowd... unlike that fraud Jim Jeffries.

Yes bill burr did a bit about trump after he was elected, making fun of him pretty bad. It was hilarious!

I don't love that she said this but i chuckled.

I've said from the beginning, Trump's election will begin to erode even the smallest amount of decency that is left in politics.  It has now devolved into petty name calling.

It started with Trump because that's all he's got.  He doesn't have the intellect to do anything more than just name calling but now it's migrated to both sides and formerly "halfway decent politicians" have now followed his lead down the dark path.

Also social media. The initial idea was great. Being able to communicate with politicians was great. Now I'm thinking maybe we need to go back to politicians not on social media

Just my opinion

Whenever I'm provided information the first thing I do is consider the source.  When I here from countless highly regarded individuals in their professions stating that the narrative presented by mainstream media is a flat-out lie, I couple that with my god-given reasoning ability and arrive at my conclusions.

These highly regarded individuals in their professions have too much credibility to make it onto mainstream network news that's why they have to use alternative outlets like YouTube to get the truth out, their credibility would ruin the narrative and expose the lies promoted for selfish reasons.

You as well as many others believe if it's on television then it must be true, no matter how illogical it is.  People like you I render lazy-arsed dumb sheets because 1) you have no intuition and 2) you're too lazy to look elsewhere for information.

T

Yes that’s why they’re relegated to making videos with all of the technical prowess of an Al Qaeda beheading, because they have "too much” credibility. Seek help freak. My only hope is you’re on a watch list or two.

There's sort of a grey area between societal issues and politics and a lot of comedians find their jokes in there, but nowadays politics is inserted into a lot more than it used to be, so there's probably a lot more overlap.  But, in general, comedy comes from truth, which is why Republicans have a hard time with it.

The partisanship in here has now been taken to an extreme. Are you inferring that Democrats...don’t...lie?  They’re ALL Fing liars dude. Every single one. Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green, tea, neocons...every single damn one of em.

Of course Democratic politicians lie.  But I'm not talking about politicians, I'm talking about comedians.  Comedy is generally about telling the truth.  The truth is funny.  And it's very difficult for the truth to align with Republican ideology, especially in this day and age.  They're just not particularly compatible.  And I'm not saying politics is the end all be all in comedy, but politics bleeds into a lot these days.

Daily update from the doc

https://www.nothingbutthetruthmd.com/2020/05/51920-covid-19-update.html

Good evening,
THE RIGHT TO BE RECKLESS

There should be no doubt that mitigation efforts have saved the lives of many.  These efforts, and their outcomes are ongoing, so the history of them cannot be rewritten.  So much has been documented of their success that it will be difficult to deny in the future.

Drunk driving laws, speeding laws, driving without a license, the draft, flying without a license, quarantining lepers and countless other rules exist, that infringe upon the personal "freedoms" of individuals.  The common thread is the protection of others, the welfare of the greater society.  It is disgustingly lame to hear the laments of those affected, bellowing about their loss of personal freedom.  The lack of intestinal fortitude (no balls at all) of political leadership, to enforce the protection of society is equally disappointing and disturbing.

The Resumption of Sports and Exercise after Covid-19 Infection
JAMA Learning, May 17, 2020
American College of Cardiology's Sports - Exercise Cardiology Council

These guidelines pertain to the competitive athlete and highly active individual. (my personal definition of highly active would be any individual who routinely elevates his/her heart rate over 65% of maximum (maximum heart rate = 220-age) for sustained periods of time. They do not involve the need, wisdom or protocols for diagnostic testing for Covid-19 for participation in group sport activities.

Acute cardiac injury defined  as biological markers of myocardial injury greater than 99% of normal, and or electrocardiographic abnormalities are seen in up to 22% of hospitalized Covid-19 positive patients.

A.  Asymptomatic carriers
  1.  Rest, no activity for two weeks from the positive test result
  2.  Close monitoring for delayed symptom onset or deterioration.
  3.  Slow resumption of activity after two weeks under the supervision of a healthcare team

B.  Mild Symptoms, not hospitalized
  1.  During the symptomatic period and for two weeks after symptoms abate, rest, no exercise
  2.  Reassess periodically for clinical deterioration or the need for cardiac testing or hospitalization,or the development of cardiac symptoms
  3.  Evaluation by knowledgeable medical professionals for consideration of return to physical activity
     a.  biomarker tests
     b.  EKG
     c.   Echocardiography or additional symptom guided testing
     d.  when normal, a slow resumption of activity under guidance of a healthcare team
     e.  close monitoring for deterioration
     f.  If testing suggests cardiac involvement, return to activity should be based on the myocarditis return to play guidelines

Reopening Schools

There are two articles that are available and free to the general public and are informative.
1.  School Reopening- The Pandemic Issue That is Not Getting its Due
2.  School Closure During the Corona Disease 2019 (Covid-19), An effective Intervention at the global level?

A general caution, the lack of data does not negate the relevance of the issue but indicates the need for further investigation.  The lack of evidence of harm does not equate to "no harm"

There are many factors to consider in school closure and the cited articles provide information and food for thought.

My Opinion - the prevalence of Covid 19 in the under 18 age group is not common, therefore the prevalence rate is low.  The effectiveness of masks worn by all, in minimizing transmission of Covid-19 is very high, especially if symptomatic individuals are eliminated. (requires screening daily)  At the high school level, the compliance with "masks for all" should be very high.  Civil liberties (stay home if you don't want to wear a mask) aside, the  chance of infection would be very small in a population, which is little affected when uncommonly infected.  The risk benefit ratio in my opinion is considerably weighted to a safe return to school.  At the junior high level, compliance may be somewhat more problematic and at the elementary level not a consideration.  The prevalence of Covid-19 in the under 10 group is only 1%.

Burr is the man. I've been a pretty big fan of him for a while and have seen him perform live. Been pimping his animated show on Netflix since it came out. Dude is great. He's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but comedy is pretty subjective anyways.

I've been watching that as well. He is pretty brutal lol. That is probably why I like him though. You can definitely tell he strikes a nerve at least once during his shows lol.

He definitely does. Then he doubles down on it by drawing attention to it.

I love when he doubles down on it and then drives the knife a little deeper especially towards the part of the audience that was booing lol.

I remember seeing Burr way back on CC on a two bit show, like Doritos Stand up Stand up. I remeber liking his set but in no way thought he would make it as big as he did. Glad he did, dude is really, really good

That sucks. Our HR person was asking us how we felt about it. I told her there's nothing I need to be in the office to do so I see no reason to go back. Plus wearing a mask for an entire 8 hour work day would suck.

i've been back in the office for a couple weeks now...and working from home prior to that.  i'm glad the rest of the folks here will be back...for their sake.  but i'm selfishly not thrilled about sharing the building with 40+ people.
