Doc is less of the reason they lost today, but I’d fire him if they lose anyway. The fact is his teams always seem to blow series leads. This would be the 7th time in his career his team has blown a 3-2 lead and 9th time they’ve blown a series 2-0, 3-1, 3-2

He will be the blame and rightfully so but those last five minutes Embiid needs to demand the ball every possession.

Harden had a little 6 point burst in the 3rd and I thought he was going to get going.

But man if Harris coulda hit like 3 shots we at least go to OT.

Missed 2-3 layups in the first half. He’s averaging the last 4 games 8.5 points. And under 10 in 3 of 4. He and melton have been absolutely atrocious. Harden and embiid need to be better but both melton and Harris have been bad offensively in 3 of the last 4 games.

To me they lost this game in the first 5 minutes. That’s on players and doc for not being ready to come out and fight. Knowing Boston was going to come out swinging with their backs against the wall and they just did it last year vs. bucks. Sixers were down 12 points five minutes into the game. the rest of the game they were playing from behind and an uphill battle.  expanding more energy to get themselves to a small lead halfway through the 4th. So by the time you got to last 5 minutes of that game, nothing left in the reserved. Whereas Boston still had energy left in the tank (even though they weren’t great to finish it off).

imo the thing with Boston is you can’t get your self down by 8-12 in a game against them. It is very unlikely you’re going to have a positive result if you do that. You’re gonna wind up making a run at some point in the game but ultimately Boston is good enough to withstand that run and go on their own run then have the energy to finish it off

This was game 3 all over again.

Embiid only played 37 minutes though where he played 41 without OT and 39 minutes the previous two games.

17-0 run in 3 minutes for the Nuggets, damn

You want to blame embiid go ahead. The bigger issue is embiid would’ve had to go for 40 on a bad knee to make up for Harris and melton giving you 2 points. I can live with embiid giving me 26-11. I can’t live with Harris giving me 2 and melton 0. Tucker and niang have been better scorers in 3 of the last 4 games than Harris and melton. Let that sink in. Tucker who’s not an offensive threat and niang who we didn’t even think could play in this series.

What’s the bigger issue: embiid giving me the last 4 games 30.8 ppg and 10.8 rebounds on a bad knee or Harris giving me 8.5ppg over the last 4 and under 10 in 3 of 4? Embiid’s performance or melton giving efforts of 2, 14, 0,4,0 over the last 5 which is an average of 4 ppg? Harris is 6 points below his average and melton is 6. Embiid is 1.3 points below his on a bad knee. Those 12 points missing by Harris and melton were he difference in both games 3 and 6

the fact pj tucker has out produced Harris in 2 of the last 4 is a massive issue. Niang outproducing melton and Harris in 3 of the last 4 games is a massive issue.

don’t get me wrong embiid should get the ball down the stretch and ask for it. However the bigger issue here is melton and Harris basically just played 64 minutes of 2 points on 1-12 shooting. That’s Ben Simmons-esque except Ben wouldn’t take 12 shots. Really hard to have an effective consistent offense when you give 41 mins to tobias who was terrible offensively. And 23 mins to melton who was atrocious offensively. Basically playing 4 on 5 or 3 on 5 when they were out there.

SMH. Demand the damn ball then.

Yes, if you are the MVP then 30 points are regular season numbers. This is a close out game, go get the ball and win/lose by you shooting it.  That is exactly what Tatum did.

Harris sucks and has sucked for years but averaging your regular season numbers in the playoffs doesn't cut it.

Harris not even averaging his regular season numbers. It’s gonna be hard to win going 5 vs. 4 on offense cause Harris and melton are  useless. Isn’t this what we ****ed about for years with Simmons? congrats Harris is basically Simmons out there tonight and in 3 of 4 games. And he doesn’t even play nearly as good of defense. You want to know why the offense had no ball movement? cause Harris didn’t have to even be guarded. Much easier to defend when you don’t have to worry about all that much about tucker and melton and Harris are god awful

essentially tobias Harris just gave you what Ben Simmons did for years. All while making $38 mil and playing 41 mins and scoring 2 points.

Also good adjustment by mazz to the starting lineup. he basically was ok doubling off and allowing Harris, tucker and melton (niang too but niang actually made him pay in those minutes why embiid and the sixers offense looked good during that stretch) to have to beat him as Williams and horford clogging up the lane and making it more difficult to just throw it into embiid  and maxey and harden had a much tougher time getting to the rim.

Tatum did. Joel did not step up. Harden did not step up. But Tatum did. THAT blows chunks.

The COACH should be demanding it. He should be calling plays for him, He didn't. I'll be glad when Glenny Boy is outta Philly. Boston's coach called plays for Tatum, even though he was having a **** night. He went to his go to guy. Glenn? Nope. And Harden- no balls to step up and shoot 3's when it was crunch time?

I mean Embiid and Glenn both have to do a better job getting him the ball down the stretch. and also figuring out how to get him the ball.

mazz and the Boston Celtics game plan worked to perfection. Their change to their lineup and game plan was we will leave melton open for three and if he beats us tip our cap to him. Guess what happen? melton missed every single one like much of the series. We will leave Tobias Harris open and let him take those shots. if he beats us hats off to him. Guess what? Tobias Harris didn’t beat them. We will leave PJ Tucker open for three. Even if he hits 2 he’s not gonna beat us. Same with niang. They much rather go and double embiid, and force him into being a passer to the open man or make it difficult to get him the ball which was much different then game 5 cause guys hit shots. It’s why I talked about what I just did with Ben Simmons. You’re essentially playing 4 on 5 out there unless those guys are actually capable of consistently hitting shots. Right now harris, melton suck. Harris is 2-10 the last 4 games from 3 and 14-33 (42%). Melton is 4-15 from 3 (27%) (all 4 of those 3s were in one game so 0-8 in the other 3 games) and 7-26 (27%) last 4 games. They have no business playing anywhere close to the minutes they are getting and the offense is a disaster if that’s what they are gonna do. And tucker and niang shouldn’t be asked to carry the offense or make up the lack of production from Harris, melton, harden and even embiid.

Goes to what i was saying about mazz making that adjustment. Can’t have harris, tucker and melton combining to go 2-12 from 3. creates no spacing on the floor and allows for 19 mins of the double big lineup. First 6 minutes with that lineup the Celtics were a +10. I’m guessing for the game they were likely close to +15-20

This seems good before game 7

Doc and Gannon are equally good at adjustments

the sixers are a -32 in the 4th quarter. Haven’t won a 4th quarter since game one. Actually a -24 in the last 3 games and game 4 and 6 that were close they lost by 9 and 11. So basically if the sixers are behind going into the 4th quarter likely in a world of trouble. If they don’t have a sizable lead likely also in trouble.

Last night was their chance and as usual they blew it.  Embiid and Harden both shrunk under the pressure as they often do.  No chance they win a 3rd game in Boston.  Fire Doc, trade Embiid, blow it up because they will never get farther than the 2nd round with either of them.

2 points in 41 minutes....

they'll certainly try to trade him. i just wonder what kind of longer contracts they'll have to take back to get a team to take him.
