Reading some of these responses makes my head hurt. How can you be negative about what just happened?

Al Horford was the worst contract I've seen in a sport in years. The fact that Brand was thanked by Morey last night ... most condescending, laughable thing ever. Like telling your 4 year old good job for wiping his own rear end. He got perimeter shooting and defense on an expiring contract? Perfect.

People worried about losing a 1st rounder in the NBA, especially for a playoff franchise? Um, ok. This isn't the NFL.

Curry? He's what they need. Another guy that doesn't need to touch the ball and can literally shoot from god levels.

I'm not sure Morey could have made better moves here. He basically just went out and got more talented Steve Kerr for Josh Richardson and cleared money for more talent.

I thought TATE was bad.

once you block shocker & he, this thread gets a lot better.

brand is getting killed but i'm not 100% sure how much power he had last offseason with the remnants of colangelo's stooges still around & ownership thinking they know basketball.

I think that’s fair.  Brett also had significant input in personnel post Collangelo.  At best, Elton was one voice among many.

I make this thread great.

Houston Rockets guard Austin Rivers has decided to opt out of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent, a source told The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears.

After four years with the LA Clippers, Rivers spent short stints on the Wizards and Suns before finding a home with the Rockets. Rivers, 28, settled into a bench role there, averaging 8.8 points in 23.4 minutes per game for Houston last season.

The No. 10 overall pick in the 2010 draft, Rivers never lived up to his billing as a top prospect heading into his freshman year.

But the son of Sixers coach Doc Rivers has turned himself into a capable pick-and-roll ball handler and proved especially useful in Houston as a third option behind James Harden and Russell Westbrook.

just a matter of time, right?

He on my list. Not a big fan of his but he has matured as he has gotten old and played within the system last year. He also is a spark plug off the bench and can get buckets

Any chance Seth Curry can become as good as his brother? 😁

He’s a solid bench guy. I wouldn’t mind him if the price was right.

Would actually like to get Marcus Morris. I think he gives you a solid role player and toughness. I like if someone tries to do something to one of our stars he’ll get in their face. I feel like he brings something we could use

also interesting bench player, Rodney hood. But i don’t know where he is in his health. But he really seemed to turn the corner in Portland before the injury. Depending on price he might be a good low risk high reward

Yea he’s gonna lead us to super bowlzzzzzz

Im petty excited to see Curry draining like 5 3s a game. Harris was supposed to be a shooter and you get 1-2 a game. Its gonna be really nice to have such a pure stroke on the team.

I like the report of no G-league plans for Joe. He reminded me of Terrence Davis from last years draft. A guy who was not just a stand still shooter, but was athletic enough and good enough to pull up off the dribble in mid-range to attack close outs. He can make a difference right away.

It begs to question the plan with Danny Green, Furkan Korkmaz, and Thybulle. Zhaire isnt even worth mentioning  But where does Joe get his minutes? SG or SF? And at whos expense?

Will 2023 be the first draft with high schoolers again? I just read something about that.

He’ll be glued to the bench is my guess.

Kelly oubre to the warriors

Well I guess thats probable. Yet, why not let him some G- league development then? Supposedly the league was even increasing the allowance of 2 way contracts this season. Kinda seems like they might want him to play.

Theres a chance hes already better than Kork. Hes definitely better than Zhaire.

Depending on what position they plan to play Green and Thybulle at, theres not much keeping Joe out of the rotation.

Kork. He's good like once a month.

As of now what's your starting lineup if you were the coach? And what do you think Docs will be with the current roster?

I think I'd go Simmons, Curry, Green, Harris, Embiid

i think Doc goes, Simmons, Green, Thybulle, Harris, Embiid.

I like your suspected Doc lineup better.

I like Curry's scoring on the bench for us, and Green's D in the starting lineup if he has any left.

Im afraid with him only making 1 per game, and Thybulle's inconsistent shot and lack of overall offense that that lineup sucks. Luckily theres still free agency and maybe more trades to come.

I think Curry deserves a shot to start and see how it plays out before making a move to Green or Maxey. I don't think he is playing 22 minutes but closer to 27 29 a night.

His shooting is too valuable.

I cant help but think of Green's 15M expiring, and our ~9M trade exception, Scott's 5M expiring, and a valued 3 and D player like Thybulle as trade chips to fix that guard situation.

We have a surplus of 2s/3s but none particularly worthy of starting on a team with aspirations of contending. Look for a team with a star or neat star young G who they wont be retaining in to the future. Even if hes already on his max deal we have contracts to match.

I hear you on Curry's shooting and Im excited for that. But his D will be exploited. If youre going to have that as a weak link, then the rest of the lineup better be damn strong. BUT, its not cause then youre gonna have another extremely limited player starting along with him like Thybulle or Green. We need to make a trade for a wing.

I would be willing to bet Green gets traded he was absolutely putrid for the Lakers he has nothing left he can't even hit open 3's anymore.

he still played like 24 minutes a game and only even took like 2 a game. Shot about 36% which is average. And his FT% wasnt even good last season so maybe his shot has permanently left him. Hes older so his defense isnt as good either. His most valuable asset to offer a team is his contract.

He only got that many minutes because they had injuries to Rondo and Bradley. Then Bradley didn't play in the bubble where green was really exposed to how far he has declined he was a an absolute train wreck and didn't even deserve to get a ring he was that bad. Fans actually made a petition not to give him a ring lol. Like over 10,000 signed it.

I didnt remember the details but I do remember him being pretty hated by the fan base. Thats bad...

Have to believe Morey sees that he offers absolutely nothing on the basketball court. Gotta be acquired as a major asset for trading.
