I could see Morey wanting to get PJ Tucker back in any deal including Simmons to take over as primary wing defender, at least in the short term as he's older.

Ben's biggest value to the team right now is his elite defense at multiple positions, often against the other teams best players.  Tucker could take that responsibility if he comes back in a deal for Simmons without creating a glaring defensive weakness for the team.

Ultimately, if this deal goes down, this would be my best guess for how it shakes out.  Sixers move closer to the package Houston wants but also gets Tucker and maybe another minor piece Morey values back in the deal.

I watched the Rockets play last night snd and Tucker was diving on the floor for loose balls at 35 during a preseason game. Where he came from and how hard he had to work, guy would be loved in Philly this year.

He is also on an expiring contract so his value is thru the roof come trade deadline, Rockets might want to keep him to get a future 1st out of someone.

Would you give up Harris and Ben for Tucker, Harden? It would be close and depending where the cap situation is after and can they sign guys in 21

Embiid not playing tonight.  Load management!!!  He must be wiped out from those 17 minutes he played the other night.

If Ben isn't going to practice shooting, he could have worked on other parts of his offense.  Nothing has changed.  He hasn't become more aggressive and willing to take it to the basket looking for foul shots and putting other players in foul trouble (probably because he has not worked on his foul shots either).  He hasn't worked on different post up moves.  He hasn't worked on face up moves.  His dribbling has not improved.  His passing skills (besides transition) don't come into play because no one has to guard him.  He relies solely on his speed, length and athleticism.  He is super lazy apparently or he just doesn't care about basketball much.  Just because you are naturally energized and can run for days doesn't mean you are putting in any work.  Can anyone name one thing he has gotten better at since being in the league besides defense?

Its seriously a joke.  They need to change it to Lazy Management.

@Khani1he just doesn't care. He can do the bare minimum and get paid. Only thing he did this offseason was buy a video game team.

And remember were reports that the Sixers were the team most interested in leaving the buble. You could also see it in Thybulle`s blogs, none of them ever hung out as a large group together. But the team is pretty much the same and to me this team has runs its course and time to shuffle it around before Ben has the value of Fultz

Ben is the top guy and name the other one.

I know you and I feel the exact same way about this.  This is probably the last year or at least half season (trade deadline) we can fool other teams into thinking Ben will become something.

especially in the playoffs in crunch time,  all you are going to see is ben try to drive to net or pass it to someone else, it's not winning basketball. imagine embiid having the ball with 10 seconds left and gives it harden you might have a better chance of winning that game then ben because ben wont shoot.

I think you guys are missing the upside to no Embiid tonight = which is elite Ben Simmons, as his name is coincidentally being tossed around in trade talks for one of the 5 best players in the league right now.

Sit back and enjoy the Ben Simmons show, and then the James Harden trade this weekend after HOU gets a fresh look at what this guy looks like running his own team.

Hopefully Houston is this stupid.

they have a disengaged superstar who is going to drag his feet through every practice and game until he gets traded. As soon as Morey makes Simmons available they are driving Harden to the airport. Props to Morey for having not done it yet.

Btw, Dallas officially out on Harden, per Marc Stein. So HOU's desperate attempt at leaking SImmons name last night to bring in more suitors isn't paying off, hurting their leverage even more.

Yep.  Good points.  Unfortunately I won’t be able to watch.

I agree but the longer they can hold out, the more Morey can get out of the trade.  It sounds like he isn't satisfied with just getting Harden.  If he gets other assets or makes the trade more lopsided in our favor, it would be great.  That being said, I am trading Ben for Harden yesterday.

as am I and I like Ben.

HOU is simply in over their head here. They don't want to make a deal w the former employee who burnt them but they don't have nearly as many options as they expected. I'll say Ben/filler/lottery protected 1(s) for Harden and Tucker gets done at some point. If it doesn't, HOU really is that jealous and spiteful of an ex and is going to take less from IND/TOR to just keep him away from Morey. But gotta anticipate there are still a handful of smart people in that organization that realize Simmons is the best talent available* and that's who they should be working to acquire.

i like to add, sixers fans are twitter are begging not to trade ben, this is problem with the reason why the sixers havent won jack in 37 years is because they dont take risks and they sit around and wait for players to become the second coming of lebron and it doesnt work that way and all we do is waste the talent that is on this team and we are back to where we have started.

everything i hear it's about dynasty, what about winning a championship? the current talent on this team isnt enough to be a dynasty and we have to trade for the stars because the stars wont come here. we are not the lakers, lakers are always lucky to get talent from fa and sixers dont have that luck. that's why we have to trade to get them to build the super team otherwise it's just more of the same.

I dont know what else he could possibly want so bad off that Houston roster. Theres a few guys Id be ok with. But not a single one thatd get me excited. I really dont care about any of them.

It could be Houston is asking for someone who we are not willing to trade like Shake or Maxey and Morey is countering.  Or they are asking for multiple 1st and Morey doesn't like it.

Last report I saw was houston is asking for a boat load of 1st round picks for Harden. Houston knows they are not going anywhere with or without Harden and I'm sure they know ben isn't going to help them win anything either. Houston may not have the leverage for more but, that doesn't mean they will just accept anything being that they are not going anywhere neither way.

Embiid already missing a game is why Im totally fine with trading him as well as ben. This is supposedly his "prime" and he misses at least 20 games a year. Whats gonna happen when he inevitably falls off a cliff very soon, when hes past his prime?

Not winning with a player in his prime who misses this much time, and looks sloppy for half of the games he does play. Would be smart to trade while he still has value.

Some smoke of Harden to the Pelicans

So was it Simmons and BB that didn't want Butler?
