I missed the game. I see they won. Howd they look?

We have ourselves a rookie!

Slow start then dominated to the point of 2 ways playing most of the 4th.  Defense has been great.  Love Maxey so far.  Charlotte is a horrible match up against the Sixers.

Difference in coaching, rotations and schemes is night and day from BB.  Roster construction is too.  Morey and Doc done good so far.  Oh and Tobias continues to play to his contract by doing it on both ends.

I mean we weren't wrong....he did suck. I dont think we knew how much Brett brown misused him along with the rest of the roster though.

He didn't really suck. He averaged like 19ppg. He just didn't give us like 25ppg like we expected.

Tobias follows up Eastern Conference Player of The Week with another solid performance.  He's looking like the Clippers Tobias that we were all excited about when the trade initially went down.

What does Doc Rivers do that works so well for Tobias and why couldn't Brett Brown figure it out?

Maxey is gonna be a good one.

Really like how the sixers have looked the last few games but I'm trying to be mindful that the quality of opposition hasn't been the best. Hopefully we can beat a few good teams with similar performances and all come away feeling good about the season ahead.

I didn't expect Maxey to be coming into games so early but he's justified his playing time and I'm really happy with him. Curry and Harris have really stepped up the last few games as well. I was pretty disappointed with Curry's first few games but he's taking and making more shots and showing more handling the ball/scoring 2s than I expected.

And the improved shooting across the board is helping Embiid with the spacing and allowing him to dominate. Which is what we all wanted.

My hope was that Doc could get Harris playing well enough to flip him in a trade again... but if he keeps playing like he has been, he’s worth the contract and needs to stick.

don't read too much into the last couple games. charlotte is f'n turrible.

Yeah.  They match up terrible against the Sixers.  Nice to have some tune up games with the new coaches and systems before they get into tougher opponents though.

It's nice to have a bench where the lead doesn't immediately evaporate and between Maxey and Shake we actually have some other ball handlers there.  I'm very encouraged.  There's a lot of different actions on offense so they're not so predictable like they were before.  They seem to be making those extra passes to breakdown the defense and Embiid has done really well passing out of doubles so far.

phenomenal. Which is a little concerning if we're thinking Championship this season IMO. I don't want Morey to get lulled into a sense of this is the team that can come out of the East just simply because we're beating bottom feeders early on and he assembled it correctly, with shooters around Simmons/Embiid. It never ever should've been as hard as Elton and Brett made it seem over the last two years.  I would still like a consolidation trade at some point for another stud with some of our spare parts.

Nobody expected 25pp from Tobias. We just didn't expect him to suck, which he definitely did prior to this season. I personally just wanted him to fill in and play the stretch four role as best as he possibly can, which is what a team with Simmons and Embiid needs. That will open up Embiid underneath and unclog the paint. He isn't only doing just that now he's playing great SF minutes as well. He had a couple early in the shot clock catch and shoot threes that went down last night. crap, if that's how he's going to play all season then maybe Morey doesn't need to make any further moves. But I don't want to get carried away with this small sample size vs. what we've seen through his duration here to this point. Obviously it's new coaching and personnel this season but fact of the matter is that contract is still an albatross and if you can get out of it you should.

This has been the story of the season so far for me. It almost feels like this is the offense, funnel it into Embiid and let him initiate the offense by passing out of the double. His hockey assists this season have to be off the charts, with the great ball movement we've been getting, a lot of the time that seemingly starts from Embiid passing it out of the double. Crazy what difference competent coaching makes. I loved Brett the person, but I almost feel bad for him with how night and day this team looks this year vs with him, with the same two (/three???) stars running the show.

Can we get an apology for the wrong use of "effect" on the form?

When Embiid got the lay in on the fast break pass from Ben, I realized I couldn't remember many(any?) fast break buckets for Joel last season.  Hopefully he really is in better shape and stays relatively healthy.

The Nets would have been a good test, but I have to think they’re reeling from Dinwiddie getting injured and now Durant being out.

The Nets don't play defense.

Sixers OTOH...

I don't think so

I love Simmons as a defender.  Anyone thinking he could shut down Durant is kidding themselves though.

I'm not saying he'd shut down KD or Kyrie.  You don't really shut down guys like that.  The problem with their team right now is they don't play defense.  Sixers have been very impressive on that end.  That's all.

Agreed.  It’s their best attribute.  I saw RJ Barrett had 26 points last night in another Knicks win.  The Sixers completely shut him down.
