To all the Ben Simmons haters:

He's already 12th ALL TIME in triple-doubles.  The Ben Simmons hate is 100% nonsensical drivel.

Like Trae Young cares about how many points he gets regardless of outcome. Ben cares about the triple double.

The last 3 minutes showed that this team lacks a shot creater and as playoff basketball comes and the game slows down will be more evident.

jojo wasn't the same after that cheap shot by lebron...i wouldn't be surprised if he misses the next couple games.

Should've been a Flagrant 2 and an ejection by rule, but Lebron.

You realize that makes ZERO sense, right?  A triple-double, by it's very nature, means that you are helping the rest of the team out ESPECIALLY when one of the stats (Simmons 99% of the time) is ASSISTS.

Get out of here with all your Ben Simmons' hate.  The people that hate Ben Simmons really don't understand what he does and the nuances involved with the game of basketball at the NBA level.

We all don't understand playoff basketball and spacing, sure thing.

Writing in bold and underline definitely help make your case.

Ben 15 points 10 assists, facilitator

Harden 30 points 9 assists, Fing ball hog

Ben had a fast break last night vs James  and instead of attacking his body he fades across the basket for one foot fadeaway five feet from the rim. The ball barely grazed the other side of the rim.

That garbage doesn't cut it to be a champion and everyone has seen enough to know that.

We can make a friendly wager.  I bet you Simmons wins a championship before Harden.  🙂

If triple doubles were the key to a championship Russell Westbrook would have about 3 rings by now. Looking at assists, rebounds and points with no context behind it is misleading. It's how and when they come that makes them useful

I'll take Beal's 34 ppg, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, 88.5% FT, 37 3P% over whatever Ben is producing and mortgage the future to do it.

Sure because if Love gets bought out, stays healthy, and goes to the Nets then good luck.

Simmons has a good game and people lose sight that he is weak when it matters. Guy needs to go now while the value is up.

simmons is a very good all around player. he just doesn't do the things that fit best with a dominant center like embiid...namely shooting from the perimeter & creating his own shot at crunch time. those wanting simmons traded aren't necessarily saying he stinks. they're saying he's not a great fit next to embiid.  they'll definitely lose a lot on defense & rebounding if they trade simmons for a guy like beal. but they'll gain on offense...especially spacing & shot creation.

Did anyone else chuckle at Ben's finger roll air ball layup?  The ball maybe went 2 feet past his hands after it was released.  It was awesome!

it was classic ben. the poor guy has no shooting touch whatsoever...even from close.

It reminded me off the Fultz free throw where he hitched terribly.  Its like Bens hands don't have the muscle memory to complete a shot (follow through) unless he is shooting the ball underhand or sideways.

Dwight Howard is a mess.  What the hell happened to that guy?  Did Lebron destroy his confidence while he was in LA?  He's so unsure that he back farther away from the free throw line with each free throw that he takes, hoping that that'll solve his problem.  News flash, it won't.  I mean, who the hell backs away farther from the line on free throws?  That's like running 4th and 1 plays from the shotgun.  It just isn't logical.

I don't remember his hands being made of stone either.  There is a good chance he will miss a 2 foot layup or a dunk.  How is that possible, especially with how large his hands are.  Anytime he has the ball in his hands for more than 2 seconds, I'm nervous about a turnover coming.

He was this player last year. Can give you 12 minutes a game, rebound, be the anchor on defense, and has never been able to shoot a FT.

I mean the dude is 35 so how much can you expect. Hell, I am surprised he has lost his ego to be able to play this role and his knees haven't given out on him.

Look at Blake. His knees are gone and never developed his game outside of jumping high. Now he is pretty much worthless and can't be traded. Zion is next unless he expands his game

What does being 35 with bad knees have to do with his hands?  I'm 40 and my hands are half his size and I don't have that problem when I play basketball.

it's useless trying to talk to anyone here about ben simmons.  i tried.  no matter what ben does, they'll find something to complain about -- save the energy.  ben could have a good scoring night, they'll complain about how "he didn't really defend the best guy".  he plays stellar defense...  "well, why didn't he score more?".  he has a triple double?  well, he's just padding stats.  and if none of the above works, there's the tried and true "ben and joel don't fit"...  which is absurd as they put up amazing stats playing with each other.

one of the things i like seeing this season though is how doc is using simmons on offense and throwing curve balls at defenses.  years past, we did not have a guy who could carry the ball up the court.  this year we've seen shake, maxey, green, curry, and even tobi sometimes take turns being a ball carrier when simmons is not.  one of the ways other teams have neutralized simmons in the past is while he's carrying the ball up the court, they just stand in a spot and dare him to shoot.  this bogged down our offense.  but, just the act of another player carrying the ball up this year, allows simmons to set up in a spot.  defenses aren't really keying as much to stop simmons from reaching a spot when he does not have the ball --  whether that spot is to receive the ball for a field goal attempt; or a spot to get ready to set up a staggered screen that doc is using a lot this year.

a lot of people will complain that "simmons did not touch the ball in the last 2 minutes"...  but one of the BEST uses i've seen of simmons without the ball was actually the last shot from last night.  check out this screenshot:

spacer.png

that is 6'3, 172 pound dennis schroder against 6'10, 240 pound ben simmons under the basket.  you want that matchup 20/10.  if tobi missed the shot, simmons 100% gets that rebound and puts it back.  ben had a triple double last night and made some of his points "turning garbage into gold".  doc did a beautiful job creating ways to get mismatches on that final shot (tobi => caruso, ben => schroder).

ben did a damn good job of standing out of the way on that last play. good point, brah.
