What would it take to land Rozier?  He's 27, averages 20 ppg, has been shooting the 3 at 40% the last two years, while attempting 7 a game, and is signed through next year for 17 million.  He can get hot at times and could help toward the end of games if we need baskets.

Not doing more on an expiring contract

If that is a sticking point, you still do it.  He gives you a much better shot at a title this year.  Those 1st are going to be in the late 20's.

And then he walks or his age causes regression in his game or Embiid doesn't come back healthy and they are screwed going forward.

I would only want him if he is okay as the 6th man. Let him run the show for the 2nd unit

And if he gets hot (which he does randomly) he can come in the last few minutes of a game for offense.  What would a trade like that cost?

Just saying the contracts don’t matchup up here for Lowry. You need to add more contracts like Ferguson.

I’d rather trade Thybulle than Maxey

I think people believe Lowry just makes them a NBA champion and beating the nets. I don’t know if that’s the case. You get an upgrade from Danny Green and you’re starting lineup. However if you give up thybulle you subtracted from your bench and your bench already wasn’t good. You’re going to have to make another one or two moves to add guys onto that bench. Because your bench is not good enough to win games in the playoffs if starters have foul trouble or off nights.

I think it means you’re starting lineup NBA championship caliber. However your bench is still bad. listening to Keith Smith from Yahoo sports talk about the buy out market it might not be as good as some believe

Nah.  Slide Green to the bench.  That gives you a shooter coming off the bench.  I would be ok putting him there now for that matter.

Because of salary cap, it’s not possible to get Lowry without dealing green unless you are trading embiid, Simmons, or Harris which is not happening. I do think green has value to this team and they would need to figure out a way to also acquire another 3 and D SG/SF if they trade him for Lowry. That’s why I was disappointed when Pj Tucker was acquired by the bucks. He would have been a great acquisition if we end up trading Green. One idea would be to try to send a big package (maxey + at least 2 1st round picks) to have Toronto include Anunoby in the deal, which I suggested earlier.

There is no way you can make a trade for Lowry without giving up Danny Green. They don’t have the money to match up. This is the trade of you included everyone not named curry, Simmons, Embiid, harris, maxey green into that deal  still doesn’t work in terms of money. If you include maxey it does but no way they dealing that many players

Ahh.  Thanks.

Yep. For that reason I’m out on Lowry if it means including Matisse or Maxey unless we get a solid bench piece back.

They are making a mistake. Giving him and multiple firsts pretty much empties out their assets going forward for a freaking 35 year old guy when they don't even know if Embiid will come back healthy. Ruben school of how to f up a team and not win a championship.

It is a mistake, for sure.

Only thought is they think Lowry is like Chris Paul in that vet leader that can win them a ring. If they win a ring then all the assets given up are worth it.

Frankly I’d be pretty happy if they traded for markkanen, used the trade exception to get a bench guy and dealt for Ellington as a bench guy using their MLE. If you do that you don’t have to deal Danny green and can likely have him come off the bench or markkanen who can play small ball 5 even though he’s 7 foot. Play stretch 4 and even some three. I’d be fine with nance as well instead of markkanen. I don’t think the cost itd going to take to get grant makes it feasible

If just would have re signed Jimmy Butler.

Right? It looks worse now cause at that point you could’ve dealt Ben and given up more in a Houston trade to the point where Houston would’ve had to take that deal. had harden, Butler and embiid and whatever you did in a sign and trade for tobias since he likely wouldn’t be back if Butler was

Not blowing the number 1 overall pick three years ago would have been nice too.

Sixers have 5 years of absolutely horrendous trades. Mikel Bridges is #1 for me.

If they didn’t waste cap space on Horford they wouldn’t be in this position either. They could have Bojan bogdanovic for way less than they paid horford and be pretty set and just need bench pieces.

i’ve said this before when we look back on this era of Sixers basketball if they don’t win a title it comes down to the drafting and what they gave up for fultz, letting Butler walk and spending money on Al Horford.

I was thinking something similar earlier while at softball practice. I thought, Id be quite happy if we went for a stretch 4 instead (Grant, Gordon, Porzingis, Nance, Markkanen), and then just got someone like George Hill, or Delon Wright at PG via trade exception, and then send a 2nd for Ellington.

I think Grant, Hill, and Ellington really completes the hell outta this team.

I would be for grant but listening to different podcasts and interviews it seems like the Pistons are asking for way too much for him. I’m not sure I want to pay what the Pistons want for him which is likely thybulle and a couple firsts

Hes one of the few guys rumored available thats worth giving up pretty much for.

Im ok giving up Thybulle for him. You still replace Thybulle with a strong defender in that trade. And gain a lot on offense.
