Welp, they lost.  But thre game went over 228.5 and spurs won so that's a successful 2 game parlay for me.

And OKC won.

And Horford persevered some trade value again.

Not a terrible night.

At this point it really doesn’t even matter what they do the rest of the way out. Just hope OKC wins out. We just need get to the playoffs without somebody else getting hurt. They’re almost a lock to be the six seed. I doubt Joel Embiid if he could play plays until the playoffs

when the schedule was announced, i predicted 4-4 in the playoff seeding games...i'm now changing that to 3-5.

jmo...i think alec burks should get more playing time. doode can score a little bit & doesn't seem to get rattled.

i was right...burks gives them the instant scoring they need off the bench.

and i wish josh could play like he did yesterday when jojo is on the court. most games he's invisible out there.

brett's postgame comments were interesting.  i can't remember the exact wording he used but he was talking about how guards (like lillard) who are able to break down the defense, drive, & pull up for 3 are by far the most difficult types of players to defend.  he talked about it for a while.  makes me wonder if he's questioning the team building around a big & a guy who can't shoot.  if brett is back...and still has some pull in the front office..maybe, just maybe we'll see some changes.

Just leave Brown just leave

And if course Lillard, Harden, Curry are the hardest defend because they are All Pros, potential Hall of Farmers, can get a shot whenever or where ever they want, and forces the D to collapse and then kick out to a shooter.

he was more talking about that type of player than specifically about lillard, but okay.

he's kind of right...it's a guard's league.

trade embiid and play ben at center!

Still have the issue of horford on the team. The sixers have 2 centers currently. Would need to trade both embiid and horford to get Simmons at center.

unfortunately Brand built a team made for a different era of basketball. Frankly even if put into that era I’m doubting they’d win. They are soft. They were supposed to be an elite (by elite i mean the best in the league or an all time defensive teams) defensive team and win grinding it out. Even when healthy they were never an elite defensive team or even close to that level to be able to win at the highest level. Brand had a chance to build the sixers Into a squad for today’s modern nba that would work in a guard (and I’d also say small forward/combo guard league) and he didn’t. There lies the problem. Legitimately brand went against how the league is going with how he constructed this roster. It was going to either be a boom Where elite length and defense won the day or a complete failure as it would prove you need spacing and shooting. You are seeing Brand’s vision in today’s nba it’s a failure and the sixers  even before injuries were never really so elite defensively to make up for their lack of offensive spacing.

Joel Embiid on JJ Redick’s podcast. "I won’t lie during the season I was not there, I was not comfortable. Offense wasn’t the same. Basketball wasn’t the same to me at all. The way things happened last summer (JJ and Butler gone) it was so frustrating.” #HereTheyCome @mrcrockpot

I mean i don’t blame him. They completely changed the offense and structure of the team fit horford and Richardson in. It was a massive downgrade from butler and jj.  When they made the butler trade they should’ve been completely locked in on giving butler a 5 year max. Can say whatever they want i firmly believe if they gave butler the 5 year max he would’ve been fine staying here with embiid. Worse case scenario you trade him Or Simmons down the road after brown is fired. It was completely foolish to not try running it back after how that raptors series went. They were four bounces on the rim away from playing in the eastern conference finals with a chance at the finals and they decided then we didn’t want butler on a 5 year max and JJ bolted. Frankly besides being greedy for more money wouldn’t be surprised if jj bolted cause he saw the writing on the wall from the organization.

from what i read, butler wanted out & it had a lot more to do with leadership than money.

and i was fine with redick leaving...but the horford signing was & still is a head scratcher. i think it was an overreaction of having to use greg monroe in the playoffs last year. anyway, they need to fix sheet before embiid starts asking for a trade.

I still think butler if given the 5 year max would’ve stayed. I think leadership can always be changed if something doesn’t work. He’s never going to get that 5th year making like 35+ million. personally and just my opinion i think that narrative was created so butler wouldn’t look as bad by making it about mainly not getting that 5th year and money.

reddick i could live with if you went out and got another shooter. Obviously not reddick but at least a good one. Horford was dumb then and even dumber now. He was 33 and they gave him 4 years 100 million when his knee was bothering him last year, analytics showed he was declining and analytics also showed more effective at center than PF.

The Sixers somehow got this thought in their mind that if Joel Embiid goes down they have to have a center that’s as good and as close to embiid so They can win still. You are never going to get anybody close to the talent of Joel Embiid. There’s only two other players in this league that play his position that are at his level. It’s Anthony Davis and jokic. otherwise no one‘s close to embiid and you are not going to win anything major if he gets hurt. That’s the reality yet they refuse to believe it

UPDATED: Clinching Scenarios To Secure The OKC Pick

SCENARIO #1

2 OKC Wins

SCENARIO #2

1 OKC Win + 1 PHI Loss + 2 UTA Losses

SCENARIO #3

1 OKC Win + 1 PHI Loss + 2 MIA Losses

SCENARIO #4

1 OKC Win + 1 PHI Loss + 2 IND Losses

SCENARIO #5

1 OKC Win + 2 UTA Losses + 2 MIA Losses

SCENARIO #6

1 OKC Win + 2 UTA Losses + 2 IND Losses

SCENARIO #7

1 OKC Win + 2 MIA Losses + 2 IND Losses

SCENARIO #8

2 PHI Losses + 3 IND Losses

For Reference OKC’s Final 3 Games:

PHX

MIA

LAC

Looks really unlikely for 2 OKC wins. They needed to win that game they lost as the favorite.

I can see 1 win, and a PHI loss happening but not sure of the Jazz schedule for their 2 losses.

Its looking unlikely to get that pick. Which I called before this all happened. 6ers would suck in the re-start and we would also lose that pick.

Idk the thunder up 15 on the Suns right now. Clippers have really nothing to play for right now. I wouldn’t be shocked if they steal that game. I’m guessing the thunder rather not play the clips or Denver and rather face the rockets. I think they matchup better

mia & ind play each other twice. good chance one of those teams gets 2 losses...so that plus 1 win by okc & a loss for philly could do it.

I’m guessing we lose the rest of the games we have left. I bet we aren’t going to see embiid til round one.

still Okc has a lot to play for. I don’t believe they want to play Denver or the clips in round one. I think they rather be that 4/5 matchup to get the rockets. They matchup horribly with Denver and clips

This PHX game was the 1 I figured the had a shot at.

LAC could rest but Thunder can tank to keep their pick. Who knows what will happen there.

Well suns making a run right now. Down 4. Still think that clips game they have a shot cause clippers are basically just coasting til playoffs. They could tank i just think their matchup is much more favorable vs. rockets then Denver or the clips.

Well Okc really bad things fall completely apart. Suns blowing them out now. So. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking they’d get that pick

Good read by O’Connor

Jazz lost to the Mavs today without  Doncic or Porzingis playing at all. Boban dropped 20 to try to help preserve that pick for the 6ers.

Jazz only played their starters about 15 minutes each so it looks like they are packing it in.  That could help some.

It looks like our entire opening day starting 5 could miss the Suns game tomorrow.

Feels familiar and comfortable to be tanking for a pick again, like wearing your favorite sweatshirt.

It is a guards league? One of the commentators spoke on this and mentioned when it comes to the playoffs and championships it is the athletic wingman that wins championships. There seems to be some truth to this as we look back over the past few championships and who the MVP was: Kawhi Leonard (Spurs and Raptors), Kevin Durant (Warriors), Andre Iguodala (Warriors), Lebron James (Cavs, and Heat), Kobe Bryant (Lakers). Makes a strong argument for where to put the money.

I would say guard and wing league. Raptors had kawhi and Lowry. Warriors had Durant, curry (and klay), Lebron and kyrie, klay and curry, Parker and Kawhi (Duncan and Ginobili). Really the last team that didn’t have an all star point guard that won was the heat with wade, James and bosh. Before them mavs had terry who was actually very good.
