well, heres the thing.

Months ago I brought up Ben for Gordon/Fournier. But I dont even want that these days. And, it wont be happening.

You can match salaries by giving up half the team to get those guys, but we arent doing that either.

So, Gordon isnt too realistic to talk about anyway.

We should be arguing over how much we are willing to give up for Lowry, Ball, Powell, Fournier, Grant, and Nance.

No I think he is still trying to talk up Aaron freaking Gordon.

My issue with Gordon is he has never made the Magic better. They have probably 6 guys that could help a playoff team right now and the Magic have never been higher than an 8th seed? Something is off with that and as the leader of the team, to me it starts with Gordon. He doesn't know how to win.

Doc wouldn’t. But that wasn’t the argument (not yours now). Somehow this became we’re talking about dinosaur basketball and that’s not the case. The case would be if the Sixers didn’t have those three guys and they asked him to cover guys like Aldridge he would get exploited by good coaches who would notice he doesn’t have the size and weight to be as good of a defender doing that. Eric Spoelstra‘s not gonna be like a Aldridge sit on the perimeter and make it easier for Matisse. So he might be a better defender but he’s also not Going to be asked to cover every guy on the floor like Aaron Gordon is.

Again Sixers have Ben Simmons. Heck, I would put Joel on Aldridge and Ben on Bam.

I'm gonna guess around noon tomorrow some of the trades will start to be announced and then from like 1-3, we will hear about 10 trades.

I would agree. that wasn’t the argument. Between who thybulle is going to be asked to defend (if we didn’t have them) and who Gordon is asked to defend.  Again you’re trying to tell me it’s dinosaur basketball if Matisse had to guard someone like Aldridge where teams would exploit the size and weight advantage in the post.  It’s not dinosaur basketball to post a guy up that’s in a disadvantage. that’s called good coaching. Jimmy butler during our run used to do that to smaller guards when they try to guard him. Good coaches would see the fact that Matisse lacks the weight and size to be able to hold up in the post against bigs like that. So they would try to exploit it. Eric spolestra is not a moron and just gonna say Aldridge if Mattise is guarding you just stay on the perimeter.

Hence why the Sixers if they didn’t have Joel, didn’t have Ben Simmons and didn’t have Tobi they still wouldn’t be asking him to guard those type of guys.

Was never my argument, had nothing to do with bum Aaron Gordon but trading Harris for Beal and playing a lineup of Joel, Thybulle, Green or upgrade, Beal, Simmons.

I don’t know what the beal discussion is. I didn’t get involved in that. All I saw was some one mention they would trade harris for Beal. If the wizards are making that move they aren’t dealing for an older player when they are going to try to rebuild that roster. They are going to want young players, expiring contracts and draft picks. So it would have to be at the end of harris’ contract in order to do it which is two years from now.

The Sixers would never use thybulle to guard some of the stretch fours/bigs that outweigh him by 25-50 pounds in that trade scenario. Because most teams who have a big that can stretch would exploit that match up in the post due to the lack of size and strength he’d be giving up. You would have Simmons guarding that guy

My response was to Matisse being a better defender. I’m not saying he’s not a better defender. Frankly he is at what he’s asked to do. The difference between the two is Aaron Gordon is asked to do more as a defender as his ask to guard bigs, wings and even ball handlers.

Sounds like we are all finally on the same page 😎

Who said harris for beal? The only reason I don’t think harris for beal happens is cause i think beal gets traded before the sixers have a chance to use harris’ contract as an expiring contract in that deal. I can’t see beal sitting there for two more years if it goes this way until harris is an expiring. I think they move him prior and i don’t think the wiz would want harris with 3 years or 2 years left on his deal.

I’m all for beal though. I love him. He is a great fit alongside Ben and embiid. If Paul reed develops you actually use him as your stretch four in that lineup. If thybulle were hypothetically here I’d start him at wing/SF. However I’d guess wiz would want him or maxey (assuming maxey progresses) in that deal tbh.

Me: Alexa, have the Sixers made a trade yet?

Guess we are going to see what wins a championship....Offense or Defense

Unsurprisingly, huge market for Powell

I guess this makes the compensation for Ball even more manageable since Bledsoe seems to be a negative asset for NO.

I think you have to consider the Lonzo trade. Though it doesnt move the needle much, if at all the value of getting him AND a pick, AND Bledsoe's soon very tradable contract....

And Lonzo slots in as an immediate Danny Green replacement. Hes not a half court PG, but he can space the floor and play D. Its like sawpping Green for a younger version of himself and gettign a pick and a tradable contract to do it.

Sounds more like what Brand would offer to get a player almost as old as him.

With the JJ Redick/Tobi hint rumor out there I figured it was worth checking in to. And he seems to have found his shot again. He shot 46.8% from 3 last month. This month so far 44.4%

I guess Id be totally ok with him on a buyout. Replacing/actually likely improving the scoring we have lacked from Maxey since the early season.

Question- Does this work considering the amount the machine says we need to cut can be cancelled out by the Horford trade exception?

Now, I know no one wants Porzingis. But we just dont have room for Bledsoe on the roster and I figured a bad contract for bad contract swap made some sense here since Kristaps fits a need at least for however long he might be healthy.
