Myles Leonard just got released as might be the best bet for a back up 4/5 even though he says dumb crap playing video games.

Wonder if Kelly Olynyk will get released since he got traded and on expiring. That would be my #1 target if he does.

Agreed on Olynyk.  I hate that dude though.  Lol

What about Lamarcus Aldridge?

🙄🙄

Im wondering if JJ Redick doesnt still push for a buyout, now from the Mavs. Maybe they wont be willing. But Im sure that wasnt an ideal landing spot for him.

On the buyout market

Looks like Doc is calling all.the shots.

My final thoughts on the trade deadline, starting with the positive

- This team improved. We didnt have to give up Maxey, or Shake, or Thybulle; and still improved by adding a proven contributor to the bench.

Is it enough? Maybe not. I dont know. I wish we did something bigger, whether it was Lowry, or a good backup PF like Nance. Even Longo Ball. But this is a damn good team and we added to it. So... we will see how far that takes us.

I take solace in the fact that the Heat didnt get Lowry either. Nor did the Lakers. The heat settled for Bjelica instead of Aldridge. The heat traded for Oladipo who currently at least isnt much of a threat. I think we are a better team than them this year.

I would still like to see 1-2 additions on the buyout market.  It seems like an absolute certainty that we will be bringing in a big. Injury prone Embiid, and old Howard can not be our only centers. Tobias Harris, and horrible Mike Scott can not be our only PFs. Would be nice to get at least 1 guy, who can play either spot.

@e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! made a good point that we can still re-sign our expiring guys like Scott and Green to potentially use their contracts as assets next year.

On that note, George Hill will be in the last year of his deal next year. Its worth around 10M but only partially guaranteed for 1.25M. Im curious how that can be used in a trade. Is it a 10M expiring? Or a 1.25M expiring? If its 10, thats a great asset.

Overall, it was underwhelming, yet in the end we did nothing but improve while most other teams did not. We are in good shape. Im excited to see how we finish the season.

Yes. This is known. He literally flat out said Morey was bringing him trades and he was saying "Nah. I dont want to do that." Now you have that quote from Morey about Doc finding a player he thinks can help. We hired a big time name at GM and made him act as a puppet for the HC. I hope it works. If it doesnt this will end up as another failure on par with the Colangelos. But... hopefully its gonna work. We will see.

There wasn't any sure fire moves to be made I suppose. With how doc has been though I think he does not think any moves need to be made.

I think doc Also wants to see how things go in his first year with the major guys they have. If things go awry in the playoffs then I think he’s more willing to make a move. He hasn’t had them for a year yet or a playoff run yet to know what he thinks he can do with them in that area. I believe next year he’s probably more willing to make bigger moves if things don’t go as he expects in the playoffs.

what's concerning about that is, does doc really think embiid will last until he's 40? if he does, he's really over his head.

Yeah I figured that was the way this was going long ago with him.

I mean they are 1st in the East with injuries and covid issues for starters at various points in the season.  So he's no wrong to think that.

I think you are being a little dramatic here lol. I doubt that's what doc is thinking lol

Agreed. Just funny in the beginning of the day most were losing their minds that nothing was happening and it's ridiculous blah blah and now most are acting like they knew it was the right thing to do by not making any moves lol. That's why my eye roll was a few posts ago lol

if he has a career threatening injury next year or year after, everything will go south.

Agree with your points here. Dieng or Olynyk on a buyout would be huge.

That's great and sounds good on a forum, but come playoffs as I keep saying Embiid will get doubled and Ben will be irrelevant offensively. They are wrong to think that.

I am really not that upset that they didn’t go all in. I don’t think Lowry just makes them automatically the best team in the league. Frankly I thought it was a pretty weak trade deadline mine in terms of a acquisition that would clearly put you over the top. I think next year there’s gonna be bigger names and Sixers fans are gonna be happy that they didn’t sell the farm this year.  they could do it next year when there’s likely going to be a better player that they can acquire.

I would’ve liked if they went and got an Larry Nance or markkanen only cause i don’t think it would’ve cost you maxey or thybulle tbh. The real reason I like markkanen is he’s 23 and still cheap for this and next year. I also think you could’ve used him in a package next year since he’s only 23 to a team that wants to get younger if you make a bigger move and consider him an asset. I also think he’s just going to be a very good player if you put him on a better team. But I really can’t blame them because that move wouldn’t put them over the top either.

Again dramatic, career threatening and doc thinks embiid will play till he's 40 lol. I agree with you they may need to do something big and take a gamble but, it's not that serious right now

So far we have been lucky. 1st half schedule wasnt hard.

2nd half schedule looked much tougher, but we are currently in a stretch that looked brutal and will be seeing teams missing their top players. We just missed Steph Curry. Will miss LeBron.

Its amazing to think, this team really hasnt been tested well.

That could continue all year through playoffs. Or, at some point we might get a harsh dose of reality when we run in to a better team than us who is actually at full strength. At least, there arent many of them. Maybe we will continue to get lucky. Or maybe we will prove to be better. But really, how good this team is is still a big unknown even at this point in the season.

The team to watch is the Bucks, they are coming together with all their new pieces and are on an absolute tear. I know it falls apart for them in the playoffs but, things could be different with Holiday instead of bledsoe and some defensive pieces.

especially our bench,  if maxey and thybulle dont show up in the playoffs, we wont get into nba finals.
