George Hill had surgery for mallet finger in January. Thats typically around 8 weeks recovery. So he should be very close to returning.

I can’t find the article now but I swear this afternoon I saw a headline saying Morey believes both Embiid and Hill are "days away from returning, not weeks”, or something to that effect. So I’m thinking they probably wait until after the road trip, and get them both into the lineup next Saturday when they’re back home.

Next two games should tell us a lot. Go 1-1 in the next two against tough opponents without Embiid, and it says a lot about how far this team has come. Obviously while they could use a couple guys from the buyout market for more depth, it’s still a better bench than they’ve had in years. Harris is playing like a legit star, just as he did in LA under Doc.

The new coaching staff is make a big impact IMO. Not just upgrading from BB to Doc, but I think Sam Cassell is making a big difference too.

Paul Reed just got himself a real contract.

And 76ers have signed Mason Jones to a 2 way contact.

Jones is a bona-fide scorer who a lot of people liked as much or more than his college teammate Isaiah Joe.

Nice signing.

Whats the deal with Jabari Parker playing only 3 games? Injured? He might be an option for stretch 4. He and Olynyk/Deing?

OK, after having a day to digest, here's where I'm at on the Sixers "moves" at the deadline.

It really does appear that sellers massively overvalued their assets, and not just the Raptors. Not moving Lowry was idiotic, but so is Lonzo Ball still being in New Orleans. Lonzo (through his father) has made it abundantly clear that he isn't staying in New Orleans. Lowry is almost assuredly leaving Toronto. Not moving those guys is just...insane. I still find it hard to believe that the sellers could all be that stupid collectively, but maybe that is what happened. If so, kudos to Morey for not paying an insane price (i.e., Thybulle).

However, I still can't countenance Mike Scott being on this team as an expiring contract. I'd rather have me on the roster at this point, and I'm 5'6". Making things worse is Doc's allegiance to veterans, which leads to things like starting Mike Scott last night. Maybe you can talk me into keeping Green, especially if you can sign him to a 1 year contract for next year and keep him as an asset. Maybe you can package Hill with Brand's trade exception before it expires. But how, in the name of all that is holy, do you not put Scott in the deal for Hill instead of Bradley. OKC was just dumping salary anyway -- I have to imagine making the picks 2023 and 2024 (as opposed to 2025 and 2026) would have let them keep Bradley and unload Scott.

So my main annoyance is I feel like Morey got played by Toronto, who ended up playing themselves at the end. Toronto wanted to keep their "auction" going right to the deadline, forcing us to hold on to Scott for salary purposes. We should have given Toronto a take it or leave it earlier, and then moved on to try and get Lonzo and others. If that didn't work, Hill was always there at 2:45, and then you can use Scott. Feels like Morey was convinced Toronto would blink, and they should have. But when they decided to be irrational, we got hosed.

Keeping our assets tied into Toronto's process until the end was the mistake, IMO. We really need a big on the buyout market ASAP.

Bradley is a fairly solid and young player who I thought was good for depth and maybe could have gotten a bit better with some more coaching and practice vs Embiid.  Scott is pretty much a waste.  And Doc needs to realize that sometimes you need to let the young guys play.  They need to be tested so if they're thrown into a situation it won't overwhelm them.

And would break his feet if he moved his feet to fast with his fragile ass.

Yeah.  Usually bench players have some weaknesses. But he scores it better than Scott. Upgrade imo.

Bad move by Tampa not trading him

There was that one report that we made an offer and stuck to it.

Another report that they wanted Maxey, Thybulle, and 2 1sts. I suspect that was an accurate report.

A report said Toronto thought they were very close on a deal and only draft compensation needed to be worked out.

Id be surprised if we were going to do both Maxey and Thybulle, but putting all the pieces together, it seems like 2 1sts was too much. I wonder if we offered Maxey, Thybulle and 1 1st. Thats my guess.

Damn Rays

Aldridge signing with the Nets.

Magic waived Jeff Teague. Hmm...

Boston was disappointed with him, but hes a PG shooting 46.4 from 3 this season.

So theres no room for Teague then. Seems like we will just be able to bring in 1 big after likely waiving Brezdeikis.

Won't disagree but Gasol is a professional and Embiid makes Drummond his ****.

Derek Bodner: The Sixers say that Joel Embiid (left knee bone bruise) is progressing well and has resumed on-court basketball activities, while ramping up his conditioning. The next update will be provided as appropriate

I don’t disagree with you. Gasol (and the raptors even without gasol) gives Embiid issues every time we face him. I feel like the Lakers believe Drummond is better then what they’re getting from Gasol.

I hate how many uniforms there are in the NBA these days. If I didnt know better, Id think Im watching 6ers/Spurs.

The other night the lakers looked more like the nuggets.

Stupid.
