Two teams that make the most sense if they trade him or he asks for a trade are Boston and the 76ers. Boston would likely give up Brown and some picks for him and then deal kemba even if they take on bad contracts back. And the sixers if we ultimately fail i could see giving up Ben Simmons and picks to acquire him. He’s one of the the players i think they’d deal Simmons away for.

They'd deal Simmons for Dame in a heart beat.  Dame range with Embiid in the post.  Hell yes.  I'd pack Simmons bags myself and I'm not even a Simmons hater.

The sixers have some motivation going into the series Shaq proclaiming hawks in 5 with no embiid and Barkley says it’s a pick em

Shaq barely watches basketball these days and wish they would replace him.

I think the Sixers have an advantage but Barkley isn't far off.

A guy that can carry a team himself and give more space for Joel. I bet they would ask for Maxey as well

I tend to agree with barkley cause you don’t know right now what embiid you are getting and how his knee holds up throughout this series. If you get embiid close to his normal level this year and knee holds up i think the sixers win this series however if he isn’t or it doesn’t i think atlanta can and likely wins the series.

Simmons + Shake + 2021 1st and 2023 1st (top 3 protected) for Dame.

Who’s going to give a better offer than that?

Off the top of my head. Ingram from the Pelicans, Murray and pieces from Spurs, Porter Jr from Nuggets,  Paul George, Brown from Celtics.

Think Simmons is best piece but if Sixers win the title this year no one is going anywhere. With Lakers and potentially Clippers out the odds definitely went up.

Also think Bucks Nets is going to be a war and Sixers Hawks could win the series just based off them beating each other up.

i agree they would ask for maxey, but i would try to avoid that if possible. i'd still do the deal if i had to though.

I don't want to give Maxey up either but if we did, Covington would have to come with Dame.

What is the infatuation with Covington?

He is an average on ball defender who stats dramatically decline in the playoffs and now 30 years old and owed 13 million next year.

It’s why i said yesterday the two teams that could offer the best package are the Celtics and the sixers. Sixers is obvious Ben Simmons. Celtics with brown, Robert Williams and likely draft picks. After that you look at what teams would be interested and what they could give up it’s not as good as those two teams.

The Knicks would be interested don’t think they have remotely anything close to the sixers or Celtics package (quiverly, toppin and Barrett— it’s really not great).

Miami could do herro (disappointing second year), nunn and robinson and picks. ok but still not better.

Lakers have kuzma and really not very good fillers.

Warriors do have good draft picks and wiseman but not sure they want lillard along with curry and klay i think they’d prefer someone like KAT if he were available via trade.

Clippers if the blazers would take PG but  they have like no draft picks to include.

If CP3 opts out and leaves PHX (could see cheap sarver not want to give CP3 a 3 year 100 mil contract at his age), the Suns could do bridges, cam Johnson and picks which isn’t better.

Bucks are out after signing jrue to the extension and i don’t think the blazers would get enough back if jrue was in that deal to make them not take brown or Simmons.

Toronto doesn’t have enough quality going back besides the draft picks

Denver is interesting if the blazers loved porter Jr. and Morris along with picks. Still don’t think that’s better than brown and Simmons tho.

just don’t see utah making that deal.

Not infatuation and I know his defense is overrated but he is still a decent defender.  I think that would be necessary after losing Ben, no?

Give ALL the minutes to Thybulle.

You now can afford a below average offensive player on the floor because it's only one player and not Ben and Thybulle

I would like some defensive depth.  He is an expiring contract too so its not like we are stick with him after the 1 year.

If I was the Blazers I would take Porter Jr over Simmons but not sure Jokic needs a ball dominant guard. Murray is a perfect complement to him because he is more of a small off ball guard who isn't good at creating for others.

Joel and Thybulle will make NBA All Defensive 1st and 2nd teams this year and Harris is a capable defender.

And to me if not starting Covington his value is minimal

I think it depends on if you believe his back is going to hold up long term and if away from joker if he have the same amount of success cause at that point he’s going to be the no. 1 guy for you not playing off joker. Tbh i also think the blazers want to trade him out of the western conference if they do it.

Only superstar to play every game this year.

It’s amazing when you look at joker’s picture as a kid and what he’s become. You wouldn’t believe it. I love watching him play. Sadly i think the Suns backcourt and defense is better than the blazers so likely losing that series. Frankly not sure that’s the case if Murray is healthy and is just good not like bubble Murray but just good.

You can stop right there.  Anytime you see him on tv or even playing, its like a prank being played on you.  The way he walks, runs, his lack of any muscle definition, his body language, etc etc etc.  Then you watch him play and say, WTF is happening!!

Probably the most fascinating player to watch for that reason. Kind of reminds me of like Steve Nash. You looked at Nash and never thought this dude is is physically anything special but he was just flat out a great player.

I mean Luka is on track to be a Top 10 player of all time they way he is going and he looks like a pile of dough.

Also true. The only reason I know this piece of information is because I have a friend who works as a beat writer for the Suns and a bunch of coaches/works in the university of Arizona athletics department and both said the same thing to me, besides Ayton being a wildcat (sarver the owner Arizona alum) that they didn’t go Luka was the concern that he would plateau due to not keeping himself in shape.  they used his last year leading into that draft as an example of it to go with ayton. As good as ayton is can can be, I’d still go Luka over him in a heartbeat. He’s going to be an all time. If you put him and Booker together and then just got some quality bigs in FA or eventually trade for one that team is ridiculous.

that's what i thought made the most sense about covington. adds a lil depth and the contract is expiring so its a short term situation.

Only potential down fall in your scenario is that Danny green might leave in free agency. So even giving all the minutes to thybulle you’d need to replace green somehow. Covington isn’t a bad replacement if Green were to leave.

i cant even continue with this discussion. way too far ahead.

bring on the hawks.

not worrying about offseason moves until after the parade :flex:
