If you are going to double trade young then actually make it a hard double. Don’t let him just dribble around you. At that point it was a useless double and basically sends everyone scrambling.

another problem is curry can’t play defense on any of these guys. Hes 6’2. The next shortest guy in Atlanta’s starting lineup besides young is bogdanovic at 6’6. He’s giving up 3-5 inches on anyone atlanta has. They either post him up or make him go through screens which he’s having issues with

So Ben is now 13-38 from the Free Thrown line.  I'd say he's certainly in the running for WOAT.

I think I can equal that with my eyes closed.

Damn got it to 7. If green passes the ball to curry for an open three on that steal of young it might be 4 points.

Holy ish what is happening

Should’ve been a foul on bogdonavic before that three for shoving off curry to get open on the pass. Right in front of the official too

also shouldve been a foul on huerter for pushing embiid in the back and holding onto embiid’s jersey on Ben’s missed free throw lol

As long as Hunter is out you can put him on Hill so can hide him there

The officiating in this game is awful.

We played like crap, everything went right for ATL, and we still had a chance to steal the W.

Sixers in 6.

Could but I’m guessing Hunter is going to play. And they also went away from hill in the second half to huerter

Hunter plays it will go to 7, if he stays out then Sixers will win it.

So Ben goes 3-10 and they lose by 4.  If he goes 7-10 we are still playing (in theory).

I would start Maxey over Green in Game 2

Two ways to look at it. Through the sixers lens we lost by four and nearly came back and won a game where a lot of things went wrong. Then the hawks side of it where they probably going to say they kind of took their foot off the gas later in the fourth.

that said game 2 is a must win for the sixers. They aren’t winning crap if they don’t win that game. Atlanta is much better at home this year and won 19 of their last 21. So you are gonna have to win game 2 and take one on the road.

Embiid, Harris, Thybulle, Maxey, Simmons

give me Curry off the bench for 3s like Kork.

Either way not have young guarded by green. That first half game plan really destroyed the sixers

Also if we are going to double on young don’t half ass it. These half doubles where we send a guy and he’s slow or just stands between young and the guy he’s expected to guard doesn’t work and sends you scrambling cause young is too good for that. At least with sending the double hard you have the potential for a turnover or trapping young.

Have to give credit to Trae because last year he is forcing shots and this year he let the offense come to him. I put Simmons or Thybulle on him and make them go over the top of screens, no switching.

I also thought Ben's defense on Bogdanovic was lazy. You can't really help off him because his shooting is too good. They ran a Huerter/Capela screen in the 3rd a few times in a row where Bodgan would fill into open space and Ben helped way too much.

They ran a staggered screen 5 straight times to end the 1st and ended up with Joel on him. He will light Joel up if that continues

They have to use thybulle and Simmons on young. There’s no other way. As much as i like green, at this stage of his career he can’t do it. He’s still good enough if you ask him to guard the secondary options and limit them. But young he’s just not capable of guarding young one on one anymore. To thybulle’s credit today he gave them some good offensive minutes. He had his issues with young which is going to happen.

They can say they took their foot off the gas, but they can’t expect to shoot 95% from the charity stripe and 43% from the arc while getting seemingly every major call in their favor the rest of the series.

You can call the first and fourth quarter a wash of outliers, but the 2nd and 3rd they won by a total of 1 point and that was with everything going right for them. I still say 6ers in 6 (assuming Embiid stays healthy which is obviously a major question mark).

Did Green even make a shot this game, what did he even shoot..like 2 for 20?  Don't blame Simmons.......a couple things....The refs blew big monkey balls, they gave this game to the Hawks.  The Sixers played horribly in the first half, did everything wrong while the Hawks did everything right and they still fought back and had a chance.  This was always going to be a tough series....win Game 2 and either Game 3 or 4 and all will be ok.  That being said, f up and lose Game 2.....ut oh.....

Do we know if Sixers get Hubie the rest of the series? He is the best in the business and love his announcing

The hawks are a good FT shooting team in general. Maybe not 95% however they have guys like gallinari, young, bogdanovic who all shoot 93, 89 and 91 percent. They got to the line with those three 15 times. You are likely getting 13-15 or 14-15 if that happens cause they are great free throw shooters. Collins went 4-4 which is better than his average but his average is still 83.3% on the season. They make FTs is my point. Maybe not 95% but if you foul those particular guys you are in a lot of trouble they are going to hit a high percentage.

atlanta was down Hunter who’s one of their better players and defenders. So that’s another factor in all this. When is he going to be healthy and how healthy. He’s game to game like embiid with his knee

calls should even out however a lot of their threes were not contested threes cause the sixers were scrambling on defense to recover off young’s initial penetration. It’s why if they are going to send a double do it and don’t half ass it cause you have no chance at a potential turnover sending a guy slowly over or half double where the guy comes half way. Commit to it and do it. Also like daeagles said need to not switch on screens and make young go over he too of it. Going to need to have thybulle and Ben guarding him exclusively. Green at this stage of his career just can’t do it on young
