Doc really should consider hack-a-capela in some of these games. He’s shooting 57% from the line this year. Basically if the hawks are gonna do it to Simmons at times then do the same back. It actually could mess with their offensive rhythm. Force them to take capela out where then embiid has a complete mismatch 

I am not worried. The sixers had like 12 turnovers in the first quarter and a half and only 7 the rest of the way. That first half shooting was crazy for ATL.

Who does the hacking? You bring in Kork? 

Didnt get to watch but seemed like it was never close

I gave up midway through the 3rd.  I saw enough forced 3 point misses, missed free throws and turnovers that I care to admit.  I don’t care how close it got at the end.  Doc didn’t have them ready.

Kork is an option. I probably play around with the substitution when doing it. When he goes to the line i can bring someone in and someone out. But i think it would screw with the hawks offensive flow especially when they are in a rhythm like they were when they went on the run the did in the first half. 

Idk if it was in here that someone was talking about doncic looking like a tub of dough or whatever but that is a spot on description. Watching their game now and if I saw that guy walking down the street I would think he worked at a wal mart

He is an anchor. Never win crap with him on the team. Two number 1s, 3rd, and like the 8th or 9th pick all didn't pan out ideally in 5 years.  Meanwhile,  Hawks and Jazz built good teams with a fraction of that. 

Told you we might see Joel back in game 1.

Told you we couldn't afford to sit him either.  Still lost even with him. 

 

So we took Atlanta best punch. Didn't throw ours. We will find out if we just had a down game, or if it was Atlanta that kept us down. Game 2 will tell if we win or lose this series.

 

Goal for the offseason- improve the Shake Milton spot. Scorer like Fournier? Defensive guard like Marcus Smart? Gotta combine Hill and Shake salary to get someone pretty good like that. Kyle Lowry maybe if you use a bunch of picks.

Keep in mind they are a SIGNIFICANTLY better team at home and you guys are so so on the road. You guys might need 7 games here. 

I’m still optimistic. I think Sixers will still win the series. Hawks won’t shoot the lighters out from 3 like that every night.

Well, it was pretty close at the end. 

The first 15-18 minutes were just brutal though. From there we had a couple times we tried to make a move to get back in it, but something would always kill the momentum.

Got to also remember atlanta didn’t have Hunter. He should be back in game 2. So it’s not as if the faced atlanta best starting 5. Solomon hill is not Hunter. Hunter is their best perimeter defender. Hill got 24 mins that won’t happen again unless Hunter’s knee just doesn’t allow him to play 

right now it’s important to see how embiid feels tomorrow and on Tuesday. Game 2 is a must win for the sixers. Can’t go down 0-2 and win this series. Furthermore game 3 not til Friday night so get 2 days off in between which should help embiid. Plus game four not being til Monday is an extra day for him

It can't make the Sixers feel good they are already having to adjust their defense game play after game one. Trae only had 4 turnovers with 10 assists and I thought he looked comfortable for the most part running the offense. 

I think they should move Maxey into the starting role over Green. Thybulle needs to show me one more game of decent shooting. Thybulle shot 25% from 3 on the Wiz series, let not forget.

They let young be a scorer and distributor. Can’t let him be both. If you allow him to be both you are going to see what you saw today where capela gets lobs and bog/Collins/huerter will hit open threes cause you are worried about his scoring and shooting. 

the only reason i said thybulle today was cause if green is hesitant to shoot and goes 0-5 on jump shots then you might as well go thybulle because at least thybulle gives you better defense on young. Could go maxey but i think his lack of size Is going to get him on the defensive end on anyone but young. Maxey is only 6’3. I’m guessing they’d try to post him up if he gets matched up on someone like Hunter, Collins or bogdonavic. I wouldn’t mind maxey in the starting lineup but I’m guessing doc sticks with green next game. i do love the spark maxey gives off the bench. They really need more from the bench then just thybulle, maxey and kork. Not talked about enough is that hill played like garbage. He has to be better. 

 

Dwight was awful. Had back to back turnovers in that stretch and missed a layup. 

I'm not a fan of the half arse double team on Young as soon as he crosses the middle of half court. He always seemed to pass out of it early before the trap could fully engage and it led to a big having to scramble to guard 2 defenders on the backside leading to an open corner or wing extended 3. 

I know Howard has done a lot right this year, but.....he is horrible around the basket.  I mean, it looks like he is playing with oven mitts on his hands.

I kind of mentioned this during the game as well. Come hard or don’t do it. Young is too good to do the slow ass half double or where you try to come half way between him and the guy you are supposed to be defending so you try to recover. It sent them scrambling with no opportunity of a trap or turnover. Was very frustrating. 

also have to make Trae young work on defense. Force him to fight through multiple screens and when it’s not screens get guys like Danny green and tobias Harris guarded by young and back him down and post him up. It’ll help wear him down so he’s not nearly as electric on offense. I felt like they barely made him work on that end in this game
