I wouldn’t be so sure it won’t happen again...

Sixers got punched in the mouth though.  Let’s see how they respond.

that was the worst half i seen the team play in recent memory. either way you're right they got punched in the mouth. i think they did respond in the 2nd half but they allowed themselves in too big of a hole to recover.

i'm not saying atlanta isnt a good team and didnt win the game, but there was one other team with the same run since march. i may end up being completely off on this, but i think the sixers will bounce back.

I think the only downside with Simmons playing young is foul trouble. If the officials call the game like they did with beal at the end of the wiz series and then young in game one he’s likely going to be close to 5 or 6 fouls by the end of the game. I’m glad Simmons and doc actually said something about it through the media yesterday. It was basically calling them out. It could one of two ways: refs let them be more physical or it ticks them off and they are petty. Tend to think they let them be more physical

i cant debate this at all. some of those calls were ticky tack at best.

the officiating as a whole has been subpar in these playoffs.

Yeah i want to say it’s just the sixers games but watching around the league it’s been below average to bad. The Suns-Lakers series was lopsided in game 2-3 to the Lakers then returned back to lopsided to the Suns in game 4-5. The officials are just super inconsistent and really have been bad in a bunch of the games.

I hope you are right and they bounce back to win the series. I am more skeptical. They have to now go on the road and take one from atlanta. Atlanta is great at home especially recently (19-2 in last 21). The sixers have been better this year but when was the last time the sixers beat a high caliber playoff team on the road with both teams being healthy? This year they lost both games at Milwaukee (down Simmons for both and embiid for one), Brooklyn (they never got to face Durant, kyrie and harden— i believe kyrie only 1 of the 2 road games), lost to the Suns, nuggets, clippers, utah, blazers, hawks (down embiid and Simmons for some of these), beat the Lakers (minus Lebron and AD). Their best road wins are knicks, Celtics or dallas (when you consider who played in the games— Knicks was midway through)

Have to imagine the blazers would want to move him out of the western conference if they do deal him.  I tend to think if they hire the coach lillard wants he’ll stay for at least the year.

I hate to say this but if he isn't coming this off season, I am not sure I want him.  Another year for wear and tear for Embiid and have you seen what Dame's contract looks like a year from now?  We would be all in and hope Embiid has 2 more good years but that is risky.  You also lose Ben, Maxey and a ton of picks.  If we are trading for him, it has to be this off season so it gives us realistically at least two prime chances with Embiid and Dame, possibly 3 if we are lucky.

yeah...ben would be on the bench with 2 fouls within the first 5 minutes.  that's why doc is hesitant to put on him for the entire game. nba refs are trash.

sign me up for dame this offseason.  dame + jojo would be amazing.  they'd miss ben's defense but dame is on another level.

If this playoffs is any indication in what the direction the officiating is going in the next couple years, offensive is rewarded and defensive is ticky tack, especially if that guy is a super star.  Dame will get all the calls Trae got last game.

That Matisse call on Young is still making me go....WTF!!!

I'm not sure I want to lose Maxey at this point even if that means making a lesser move. Embiid goes down and it's Harris and Dame without picks/young players/cap space to improve down the line.

You gotta take the risk to achieve award. I would rather go for it then lose in the 2nd or 3rd round the next 3 years.

I will trade ben and picks for Dame but not Maxey

Honestly the blazers would want to deal him out of the conference. Plus the fact i think Simmons is likely the best overall player they’d get in a package. Unless they just want a boatload of picks and going to tank. Just look at the teams in the top five they mentioned

Lakers— you want Harrell, kuzma and picks? No offense kuzma isn’t that good and has been overhyped for years.

Knicks— picks, quickley, toppin and Barrett  not all that great if a package. Barrett is young but still doesn’t look like a potential star through two years. Toppin is a IDK. Wasn’t great all year. Quickley is a nice guard.

clippers— PG, some role players and they don’t have picks cause of the OKC trade to get PG.

miami— herro, robinson, nunn and picks. Ok return. None of those players are close to someone like a Ben Simmons or Jaylen brown

Boston— jaylen brown, smart and picks. Probably the best package of players thats close to Simmons

if it comes down to making a trade Simmons is arguably the best player they’d get in any package. Frankly he’s kind of what they need which is defense and a distributor to guys like mccollum and Powell

It’ll all be worth it when we get Steph

At least the Sixers won one trade, Curry for Josh Richardson.

Mavs trades have completely backfired on them besides the Luka draft day trade. Porzingis trade looks even worse now. And the curry trade was bad.

Maybe a Love for KP trade

Nets are absolutely cooking right now

Only positive about that trade for the mavs is they get out of the contract with love 2 years sooner than porzingis. Kind of feels like the cavs would buyout porzingis if that happens. No way i see them keeping porzingis that long when they are in a rebuild.

And without harden. There’s a legitimate chance that next year the nets have 3 of the 5 starting eastern conference all stars.

Every year it seems like the bucks are paper tigers.

It’s cause kris middleton disappears every time they get to the later rounds of the playoffs. It’s a dramatic drop off from what he is in early rounds and regular season. He’s not good enough if he’s asked to be a second option on a championship squad especially in the era of super teams.

Currently jrue hasn’t given them enough to overcome Middleton’s regression from the Miami series and regular season. Outside of one playoff series vs blazers i am not sure he is able too if Kyrie and KD do their thing and get the contributions they are getting

I also think their coaching has been underwhelming since a month before the stoppage last year. They should’ve fired buck last offseason. They were plummeting right before the stoppage. They’ve been inconsistent throughout the year losing games they shouldn’t and not playing up to the talent they had. They have some really bad losses where if they brought any effort they likely would’ve had a better shot at the one seed and have HC vs. brooklyn.

Their top guy is too much like Ben. Imagine if Ben was our best player.  Won't win anything.

Giannis hasn’t played nearly like he has when he won the mvp so far in this series. If they are going to come back and beat them he has to play like an mvp like KD is currently doing. (KD right now looks like the best player on the planet followed by kawhi).

But i also think there’s other issues. Their coach deserved to be fired last offseason. This team since a month before the stoppage with covid has really not looked or played with the same confidence. I thought after Miami beat them in the bubble they’d fire him. Another issue is you don’t know what middleton you are getting in the playoffs year to year. In 2017 against the raptors as they were eliminated, he was not good for a majority of that series. In 2018 against Boston he played well. In 2019 against Toronto as they were eliminated he was bad. In the bubble against Miami he was good. So far this nets series he’s not played up to what you need him too. 15ppg through two games is not nearly enough if they expect to win against the nets. I also think blowing that 2-0 lead to the raptors in 2019 they haven’t gotten over that mental playoff hurdle.
