Gotta say that’s just embarrassing for the league that they’re voters that legitimately did that

I am missing something, if Joel received 97 of 100 votes why is he not the MVP?

There are many analytics prooving Gobert is not as good defensively as people think he is.

Votes can be for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place. I’m guessing jokic got 100% votes.

Agreed, Ben isn't even the best defender in the league. Max contract for a really good not elite defender who can't score . He will get exposed in the playoffs again and lower his trade value even more.

He's the number 2 defender in the league.  He most certainly is an "elite" defender.

I have a hard time taking a defensive ranking seriously when Simmons isn’t even in the top 20 in either one. I mean I can buy him not winning DPOY, but it’s pure idiocy to not even have him rated in the top 20. Tells me the stats are flawed. Hell that second list even has Harris rated ahead of Simmons.

It is also not factoring the sixers tend to ask Simmons to defend the other teams best offensive player for a major of the minutes on a nightly basis. He’s defending Tatum, kyrie, young, Luka and beals of the world. So that’s a disadvantage at the start cause all those guys are going to get theirs but he just makes them work harder to get them (except kyrie. Kyrie seems to own Ben).

wiggins at 21 is comical. He’s been one of the worst defenders in the league and has been since entering the league.

they look way too much at blocks & defensive rebounds when choosing dpoy, imo. it pretty much guarantees that a big will win it if they give so much weight to those stats.

Simmons is pretty versatile as a defender.  I’d even go as far as saying that’s his strongest attribute as a basketball player.

Giannis and Simmons should have a free throw off next all-star game weekend.  First to 10 or whoever has more after an hour 😂

Simmons is a big though he just doesn't play like one. There should be no reason why he can't get more rebounds and blocks.

Thybulle is the better defender and hopefully given 30+ minutes next year to show it.

He may be (still not sure since Ben is more multiple than him) but he won't get the minutes until he can do more offensively.  Ben can facilitate and board at a high level so he sees the court a lot.  Thybulle does neither and is a negative on offense still.  He could replace green but he's not useful enough for 30+ minutes yet.

Damnnnn that Kevin Durant just ain't fair what he can do.

His height and wingspan makes him virtually unguardable.  When he's on, forget about it.

Player A (7 games): 12.9ppg, 44% shooting, 6.3 boards, 7.6 asts and 1.43 steals

player B (7 games): 13.6ppg, 68.3% shooting, 8.3 boards, 9 asts, 1.7 steals and 1 block

guess who’s player A and player B.

 Ben is player B.

Not sure about player A.  Is it Jrue?

Yup. Jrue also shooting 25% from 3. Playoff career numbers jrue scoring 1.7 more ppg

We think Ben is frustrating (and he is) but being a Bucks fan is much worse.  Giannis has a very low basketball IQ.  He also does not care what the crowd or his teammates think of his play.  He continues to try to bring up the ball and be the facilitator.  He stinks at it.  Then he takes way too many 3's.  Last night he was 1-8 (I think he something like 4-30 from 3 in the playoffs).  They had a large lead after the first and in the second quarter, he is bringing the ball up and is jacking up 3's at the beginning of the shot clock.  He became a ball hog and would continue to shoot terrible shots instead of just taking it to the rim.  When he came out of the game, their offense was flowing much better.  There was actual ball movement.  Then he does that stupid thing with his free throws.  Each time the ref throws him the ball, he throws it back to them so he can practice a fake free throw (miss) and then he gets the ball back and usually goes well over his 10 second shot clock.  At one point, the crowd was urging him on by chanting MVP and he silenced them to concentrate on his free throw, which he missed anyway.  I don't think you can be a title contender with him as your #1, at least not the way he is playing.  If you could convince him he isn't a shooter or a point guard and use him heavily to set screens and drive the lane most of the time, he would have more value.  I am glad we are not the Bucks lol.

Sometimes I think about an alternative universe where Ben is a gunner.   He shoots 7 to 10 threes per game but only hits 15 - 20% of them.  I wonder what our narrative about him would be?

Ben knows how to shoot, he just doesn't give a F.
