24 point quarter after they fell flat to end the 1st. Really long lull. Not making any runs. No fight tonight. They look like they are playing in Boston.

I'm not sure about firing Brand.

Hear me out.  If you really want to play chess for the long game...you've got a frustrated fanbase and a (presumably) frustrated owner short on patience after years of tactical tanking that didn't pan out.  You've got 2 superstars that can't play together.  Yet neither, alone, is nearly good enough to be the primary franchise player on a contender.  So you can either keep both, get roasted for doing nothing, and fail.  Or you can sell low on either individual guy, get non-franchise changing talent in return, and watch the one you kept fall short...and get roasted.

Any GM dumb enough to sign up for that predicament is a GM I don't want handling the team.

I'd probably let Brand run the team into the ground for another 2 years of Embiid/Simmons, let it play out, and then burn it down.

As far as Brown, you can make him the sacrificial lamb...but a better coach isn't turning this into a contender.

No thanks I don’t want Elton Brand making any more moves. His al horford move was beyond idiotic. And was called that by a bunch of us at the time he signed them. He was 33, coming off a knee issue in the analytic said he wasn’t nearly as good at power forward. Allowing Jj to even get close enough to leave knowing he had no other shooter on the team because he traded the one he had in shamet for Tobias Harris. Add on thybulle who is a nice player you had to lose an early second round pick to Boston because you couldn’t shut his damn mouth about the kid and it got leaked out and everyone knew it so to get him he had to overpay for him. And that Tobias Harris trade looks even worse as we are stuck in a 5 year max contract for a guy who’s Seems to only thrive being a good player on a bad team but when asked for more he looks lost and role player

I fear he winds up training Ben Simmons and Joel embiid and gets literally nothing for them or gets taken to the cleaners by a good GM

Hey, I'd argue that Elton Brand has been one of the worst GM's we've seen in Philly in a long time.  Every move he's made has been a disaster.  I just have no idea how they could lure someone good here.  It's the equivalent of a football team committed to a flawed running QB that doesn't have the draft picks to rebuild.  It's just not a good situation and everyone will know it.

I think you could lure somebody in here that still believes Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid can work or use one to trade away to make yourself into a better contender. You would have to hope somebody takes Horford off your hands.

The  only reason why we hired brand was because Sixers ownership was so stupid and were like you can’t hire any of your own guys that you want to bring in here  you have to work with the guys we already have in place which was completely idiotic because any GM that had any type of cache or success is not gonna be OK with having to work with people that he’s not comfortable with or guys place upon him.

Exactly and anyone who believes that probably isn't the brightest basketball mind to lead the rebuild.  I want the guy who knows not to want the job 😂

Eh you have to bring someone in that believes that or believes he can trade one away and get value back to build a contender.

Otherwise you’re just gonna do a complete rebuild. And if what you want is a complete rebuild cause don’t believe in Simmons and embiid then you don’t want Elton Brand doing it because his trades have been awful

This is pathetic.

Honestly it’s not even embiid tonight. the rest of the team is just absolute trash. Horford sucks. Trash harris is trash. Richardson is vastly overrated and Miami made him look better than what he was. Really shake is a backup. And thybulle was not great offensively in college and still isn’t even with 4.5 months off to improve he’s the same.

Can thank Elton Brand the garbage we are watching out there Along with horrible coaching by brown to even play Neto

Like I said.  It’s a Guard league.  You need the Guards.  When a 7 footer is your best player. You’re not going to go far.  Exactly my point.  I wasn’t saying Mr Softee has checked in yet.

I’d say combo wing/guards. We really don’t have either of those. We have a bunch of bigs and third tier guards like shake asked to be starters.

I still blame Colangelo.  Even though I guess it's hindsight (because we all thought Fultz was the fit), that trade from 3 to 1, missing on Tatum along with giving up that 1st rounder, and getting the most worthless pile of Fultz ever destroyed everything.  Then the snowball effect happened.  Brett Brown drafts the worthless Zhaire Smith and hand picks Elton Brand as the GM, and then Murphy's Law ensued.  Actually, maybe I blame Brett Brown more.  Not sure.  He definitely has been the center piece for Josh Richardson and Horford looking AWFUL, when they were well above average players on well-coached teams.

I think the trade from 3 to 1 was really ill-advised and I think a quality GM should have known better.  Even without knowing Fultz would flame out, there wasn't enough margin between the top prospects that year.  Giving up that much to trade up for the guy that ended up being the lesser player, as you said, was horrendous.  Then drafting Zhaire Smith with quality players on the board was another huge whiff.

and they actually traded for Zhaire Smith. They traded Bridges and something else (I forget what the deal was).

the past is the past....this team has no heart & that's on the head coach.

Wasn't brown hand picked by the all mighty Hinkie?

We went through an exhaustive search to find the right head coach for our organization, one who had a passion for developing talent, a strong work ethic to help create the kind of culture we hope for, and a desire to continually improve," general manager Sam Hinkie said. "Brett has all of that

why yes, yes he was lol.

Matisse was -30.   wow.

Yup, but essentially they had great options.

Maybe just 2 games left of the Brett Brown era.

I hope so.  the difference in coaching is light years.  Dude can't even figure out how to defend pnr or implement into his offense.  he's just straight up trash.

I dvr'd the game because I had to coach football and turned it off in the third.

Did not watch.  Lucky me.  But...I don't care how bad the supporting cast was.  A true 1A franchise player on a contender plus a ragtag group does not lose by nearly 30 to this Boston Celtics team.  Trading Simmons for players to complement Embiid will get you nowhere.

The highlight of the game was the virtual sixers fan wearing a blindfold. Not all heroes wear capes.

Asking a rookie to play defense on an all star veteran player with no help is a disaster waiting to happen.
