I got you. Will take it into consideration.

However it is also bad to respond with it’s too long so i don’t want too then use an argument that is factually incorrect (played for 4 teams in that time (phi, mn, hou and port)) and a theory that doesn’t really hold water. Again Covington only got dealt from the twovles and rockets due to being in rebuild mode so they cashed out on his value to a playoff team that wanted him.

All good man.  And I agree with you, I would take Covington and use him defensively if Ben got moved.  I was arguing with him about the same thing a few weeks ago and used the same logic as you did.  I guess he doesn't like Cov lol.

I don’t love Covington. I do think he is useful in a particular role. Plus you saw morey wanted him in the past with the rockets. I do think as a bench player he’d be good in that role for the sixers.

Add on you likely aren’t getting lillard without giving up Simmons and maxey or thybulle. And if you don’t want green back you better do something to build the bench up with limited resources/cap cause you lost Simmons, maxey/thybulle and green and only added lillard into the mix. Your bench is curry, Milton, kork (if returns), Howard (if returns), joe and reed. That bench is wildly inconsistent besides curry, unproven and no defense besides Howard.

lavine is another scorer the sixers were rumored to be interested in around the trade deadline. i'd think he would come a hell of a lot cheaper than dame or beal.

Also on the last year of his contract so the bulls would have to crap or get off the pot. Problem is the bulls might give him and vucevic til the trade deadline to see what happens. He might also just want out. I know markkanen for sure does. I agree would come cheaper due to potential free agency. I don’t think it’d cost you Simmons, Harris or embiid. Imo if you got Lavine and moved curry to the bench the sixers are the favorite to win a title.

i think the "rumors" around the deadline were 2 of maxey,/shake,/ thybulle... & possibly green for salary matching purposes.  they'd gut their depth/youth in that scenario. now if you move simmons instead, you could probably get lavine plus another piece or 2.

anyway, we can argue about all this after the parade down broad st.

I'm cool with keeping Ben if we are able to get someone of Lavine's caliber for our scoring issues.  That would be the ideal situation.  Keep Ben and have him use 75% of his energy on defense and the other 25% on rebounds, fast breaks, getting some assists but he would absolutely need to work on his free throw shooting and get it to at least 65% next year and over 70% for the remainder of his contract.

Not sure I’d want to do Simmons for Lavine. I rather wait for another deal to come along. However I’d do shake and maxey but since green is a FA you’d have to likely use hill to match salary. Meaning we’d have to go out and find a backup point although Lavine can play some for few minutes if need be.

I’d love a lineup of Simmons, Lavine, thybulle, Harris and embiid. Have curry off the bench, bring back green but use him off the bench, then use our exceptions to add pieces and then hope reed and joe grow into good bench players.

You can read the future?  Who is getting injured, Kyrie or Durant?  I don't think we can beat the Nets even with Harden out.

Or you know...Ben to meet with the shrink from The Scout and get over his daddy issues or whatever it is and shoot the freaking ball.

the nets stink!

As much as I hate the Jazz they would kill the Sixers. Rudy would be on Embiid, Mitchell is playing unreal since coming back, and they have about 5 white guys who just shoot 3s all day. Clarkson and Conley aren't bad either. Their depth would just run them into the ground. That's assuming they get past the Nets with Durant going nuts. Don't see a parade this year, but I'm hoping to be wrong.

Mike Conley was an all star this year. He’s better than aren’t bad. His issue lately has been he doesn’t stay healthy. When he does he’s a good point guard. If Mitchell plays like he has with their shooting and Conley returning they are going to be tough for anyone to beat. I think Phoenix has a shot.

For sure. I meant that sarcastically. Rooting for Phx and I agree with you.

You have your opinion on Covington and I got mine, just different ones. Nothing wrong with that. I think he is overrated with a PER of 11.19 or 287th in the league.

If you have any expectations of Ben to start shooting in the next year or 2, keep dreaming.  The sooner you realize this, the better for your mental health.

I don’t think Covington is great. But I’d love to know his PER the last 4 years (individual years).  I’m guessing with Minnesota and Portland it was much worse.

2 options for me.

A big Ben trade- which Doc will probably not do- for a Beal, Lillard or LaVine

Or

combining Shake and Hill for an excellent bench piece. Combined, they account for about 11M. Terrence Ross costs around 14Million.Marcus Smart also makes about 13 Million.

If you ran it all back with the addition of any one of those guards itd be a massive improvement without having to make a big blockbuster Simmons move.

We got Danny Green.  He's the Chris Carter of basketball.  All he does is win Chips.

I realize it. Just saying he needs to see a therapist about it.

The Trae Young D sucking has already started on espn

Wow you would think the hawks were a 1 seed and the sixers like an 8 seed, they are barely talking about the sixers at all. Very annoying

Gotta love tip off being 15 mins after it’s said to start.

Danny Green hurt, Matisse in. Blessing in disguise?

sucky offense. Ben sucks.

Yep...even at the foul line they back way off and dare him to take it and he looked like a deer in headlights and passed it
