They have made the swipe thru a non shooting foul not so that was progress this year.

They also did the leg kick too which was good.  Sticking your butt out, leaning left or right into a defender to initiate contact on a jump shot certainly needs to be addressed.  Make it an offensive foul.  Harden and Trae wouldn't last quarter without fouling out.

Stopping in front of someone so they run into you should be an offensive as well - like what Trae did to Howard last night

I don't see have issue with that. Howard shouldnt be looking to the right in the stands.

That is what will be addressed. The leaning back into a defender or side movement

Yeah but he did it JUST to draw the foul - it's not like he was stopping to pull up.  I know it's a fine line, but it makes the game painful to watch when they're stopping every 30 seconds for BS like that

It's not changing. The NBA wants to push people like Curry and Young because they are more relatable to this generation of spoiled, lazy kids. When we were growing up, watching guys like Dr. J, Jordan, Shaq and Hakeem, we knew we could never actually do what they did. But we wanted to see basketball at the top of its game. But this generation watches guys like Curry and Young and thinks "hey, I could do that if I just practiced shooting all the time." Now, of course they won't practice (because of the whole lazy part), but those guys are more relatable. On top of it being whiny little punks plays well with the new generation.

I do agree with the point you're making, but I don't agree with lumping Curry in with Young.  I don't see Curry complaining for calls every trip down, or really hunting for them like Young does.

Curry is a much better shooter than Trae Young.

the nba has become a 3 point shooting contest and kids worship players who hit step back 30 foot threes. it won't help with the 30 foot shots but widening the court and moving the 3 point line back a foot or so should help cut down on the ridiculous number of threes taken.

Said it yesterday. Trae Young is a microcosm of everything that is wrong with the NBA. The fact that the refs and the NBA are enabling his behavior is beyond my comprehension.

But the viewership numbers are up and it feels like the NBA has never been more popular. Maybe we're just old heads who are destined to be shaking their fists at the world.

Well, also, as I get older I realize how much of a waste of time it is to get worked up about how a 25-yesr-old plays basketball.  I still love sports though.

Curry is more his on court behavior. Stopping and acting like he is taking a dump on the court. Flinging his mouthpiece into the stands. Acting like a cocky little ish when he turns his back after shooting. And he whines plenty. But it's more that he and Young are basically internet trolls come to life, and that's what this generation responds to.

Kids can shoot these days. My son, 13, plays on a high level AAU team in NOVA and if you can't shoot a 3 with some consistency then good luck getting playing time. He was 4/9 from 3 in a game yesterday, of course not NBA distance, but mechanics don't change.

Curry has changed the way the game is being played.

Except in the clutch, when they both suck.

Curry has gone 0-for-8 on go-ahead shots with less than 20 seconds left in his NBA playoff career. He's played 112 postseason games.

Acting cocky? He is the greatest 3 pointer shooting to play the game, not cocky when your the greatest at something.

I'm not worked up.  It's just lengthening the game and that will end up driving the younger crowd away.  Look at baseball.  The young generation is growing up expecting instant feedback/gratification.  When you get a generation of foul hunting players coming into the league it will ultimately drive fans away.  When an NBA game takes 3 hours to finish they will tune out.  Heck in Friday's Sixers/Hawks game the 4th quarter took 48 minutes.  It was frustrating to watch.

Harden wouldn't be nearly as good or score as much if they take his BS foul drawing tactics away from him.

The actual time played during a football game is around 11 minutes and that hasn't killed the sport.

Trae Young might become a great shooter down the road.  He’s not even close to Curry.

btw, the TNT and ESPN commentators who use nicknames like "Ice Trae” or "Forever Young” should be shot.

He's the crappier, cockier version of Curry. Which is saying something. I can't wait for the crappier, cockier version of Young in 5 years!

Favorite shooter is still Klay. His form is near perfection and you want your kid to emulate a shot, it's his.

Baseball is in trouble because of the emphasis on analytics (and on home runs).  It’s either strike outs or home runs now.  I always thought the fun part was watching guys run the bases.  I like the occasional home run too though.
If you listen to the radio broadcasts every once in a while L.A. will accidentally say how he really feels about it.  Lol

Yeah and if basketball stays headed in the foul hunting direction it will be trouble.  Who wants to watch a constant parade to the foul line for 3 hours?  I love basketball, I don't like the foul hunting and constant showing up of the officials every time you don't get a foul call.  I don't mind the current state of it minus those two issues.

I get what everyone is saying about Trae young and harden. They are at the top for drawing fouls that are ridiculous. Frankly the entire league ****es and complains about fouls. I don’t think there’s a game where i haven’t seen guys complaining to the refs after a call. In that bucks/nets series PJ Tucker would literally complain after every foul call even though it was clearly a foul. That’s cause the nba has allowed it to be that way over the years.

that said embiid also does some of this. I love embiid but yesterday there was an example of it. Coming off a screen, he dribbled doesn’t even attempt a decent shot and the ball gets knocked away from him. He looks at the official right after and asks where’s the foul. he wasn’t even trying to make the basket and just was fishing for a foul. I made the comment in game five or six it’s really irritating at times with embiid being because instead of going up and actually get the basket he’s just trying to get a foul call and overact in trying to do that.

I agree.  They should make a rule in the offseason that you can’t jump back into someone to initiate contact.  The media will call it the Trae Young rule.

Embiid is guilty of it, too.  I'm not pinning the whole complain every time on Trae and Harden.  It goes from Lebron down to the 12th guy on the bench.
