there's a similar discussion on realgm where folks are saying there were reports that cleveland might be willing to move sexton...so there are a bunch of moving parts to this one.

I’m really not keen on sexton plus he’s up for a new contract at the end of next year. There’s a reason why Cleveland wants to move on from him.

LaVine, Dame, Beal, Green, DeRozen, Suggs would be my order, I think

I’d still take beal and dame over Lavine.

This would give me huge concern. Does he know how to win or want to win vs getting his buckets. It was the same concern had with Trae, but he clearly figured it out.

Various Cavs players still grow frustrated by the way Sexton dominates the ball, and opponents taunt them by saying during games, "you know he's not going to pass you the ball."

yes and yes.

that being said, why would they trade the guard they want to keep...plus the #3 pick for ben simmons? sure, they'd get love off their books...but idk if they do that. i wouldn't.

LaVine is still only 25 and I think he has another level in his playmaking which already took off this year, he actually tries on defense, won't cost as much, less miles on his legs.

Beal I would do over Dame as well, but he has logged some heavy miles on those legs 36 minutes in last four years. Still only 27 as well.

Dame is 31 next month, he does fit the timeline of win now, has stayed healthy his career but I don't trust it for some reason.

Beal and LaVine are also Hanlen guys like Embiid is so that could be an advantage in off season as well.

Any 3 is an upgrade over Ben, but what is the cost for each. Can I figure out a way to keep Maxey if get Zach? I think that would sway me a bit and they can grow together as well if and when Embiid gets hurt

Cleveland wants to trade for Ben Simmons then they probably think they can unlock his shot an offensive game. To be perfectly honest if they were able to do that Ben Simmons is better than Garland and the #3 pick that they’re going to get. It’s a huge risk involved for the Cleveland Cavaliers. As much as I love Garland and 3 i don’t think the potential of those meets what Simmons could become if they tap into that offensive potential. If we are under the belief Cleveland believes they can do that it works in the sixers favor.

Kevin love is needed to have the salaries match but also Cleveland was close to buying him out this year. he is super unhappy (was an incident in a game) and injury prone. They wound up not doing it. I have a feeling they’re gonna wind up buying him out if he’s on the team this upcoming season after the trade deadline. He really doesn’t have any value except matching contracts in this trade. As good as garland is his value still isn’t Ben even with Ben’s flaws

Would you do 5 and 8 for Simmons then move those picks for a vet? Do the Wiz like that over Simmons?

Lavine being 25 is a difference however I also have coaches at Arizona who have told me some of the stories at UCLA where he was a prima donna and a pain in the ass to the point where UCLA wanted him to go. Maybe he’s changed. And if he has then good for him. based off some of the stuff I’ve been told it makes me not love him as much as other people do. I know I’m not the only one that’s had stories cause Devon givens on 975 has heard similar things that i have.

I understand Lillard is 31 but that guy who’s clutch in the playoffs and I know he knows how to win. They might not have great playoff success but he’s won playoff series’ and advanced. Zach Lavine we still don’t know what he’s going to do in the playoffs cause he hasn’t made the playoffs.

i understand the 31 is something that’s hard to deal with because it gives you only a limited number of years but if you were willing to trade for James Harden then you should be OK with Lillard because I think James Harden who takes less care of himself in the off-season is more likely to deteriorate faster than Lillard

Who are you getting coming back salary wise to match Simmons? Cause you could make the case the warriors give you 7 and 14 and match Simmons salary with Wiggins.

Get that but to me Harden doesn't rely on athleticism as much as Dame. Harden is extremely crafty in his game. To me Nash and Nets playing Harden 40 minutes in the regular season was beyond dumb and cost them

idk if i could handle lillard on the sixers. i'm so used to opposing defenses not having to guard simmons outside of 5 feet. to see them having to guard dame out to 30-35 feet just would not compute in my brain.

Magic can take on salary and even Gary Harris for Simmons works or Mo Bamba/Ross

I get that. However I just think there’s a chance they deteriorate at the same rate because James Harden isn’t going to keep himself in the best condition because he hasn’t done it since college.

I agree Nash was stupid to play him all those minutes regular season because it didn’t matter what seed they were going to be. If they’re all healthy they were the favorite so just get to the playoffs without injuring your star players.

I also think James Harden Fed himself over because he came into camp like 20-30 pounds overweight and when you lose that much weight in a short period of time your body is going to have consequences from it

I probably wouldn’t cause i feel like you’d have to hit home runs with 5 and 8 and I’m not sure this draft you going to be able to pull a luka at 5 or curry around pick 8. Plus i don’t think you have time with embiid to wait on those two to develop. If embiid was younger or less injury prone possibly.

I could see a three way deal where a team like the wizards take picks 5, 8, 28, future first, maxey and Jonathan issac, the magic get Simmons and sixers get beal

Damn i rather doc leave and promote cassell

Sexton literally played 3 on 5 in that one game at Alabama and almost won.

He plays 2 on 5 in the NBA.

He has that mentality to carry a team on his back. And has the ability too.

Maybe he can share the ball more when he feels comfortable with the team around him.  Maybe he has to be toned down a little.

But I'm taking a chance on the guy who has processed so rapidly as a scorer In the NBA. He still has a lot of room to grow too. Scary how good he can be. Crazy how fast he is improving his offense.

I've said that numerous times.  We have the right coach right under our nose.  Doc is holding us back.

Don't let him leave

Does it matter if he stays?  I mean I guess he is great for player development but I thought since we had a lot of great assistant coaches, we would not get completely out coached in the playoffs.  That did not work out so well.

That is what I mean. Ask the Wiz do they like Simmons or those picks more and get the picks if Wiz like them more.

beal would be an amazing fit. idk how interested orlando would be though. they just broke up their entire team and would build around simmons?  tough one, imo.

Broke up a bad team and they will still be bad for a while. Ben is under contract for a while and have needed a lead guard for a decade.

Bad teams should just add talent and no worry about positions right now

i'm with it if it somehow gets beal to philly.

also, watching simmons & fultz together would be amazing.

ben & george hill to portland for mccollum & roco.

championship!

Speaking of the Bridges trade, we used the unprotected Miami pick we got in that trade plus others to trade for Harris.

Those picks turned into the 18th and 32nd picks in this year's draft

Also gave up shamet in that Harris trade. Shamet would’ve been a nice bench piece for us. Just saying rather have bridges, shamet and the Miami pick over Tobias. I think bridges upside and defense outweighs Tobias. Tobias takes on average 6 more shots to outscore him by 6 points.

Are they going to give up Klay or Steph? Cause otherwise they have the least enticing roster in all of the league.
