no way green was ever coming back. coming off making $15 mill, i'm sure he'll get more $$ than the sixers are willing to pay him. anyway, that's the price for having to unload horford's awful contract.

I figured we would pay him whatever it took considering we are so over the cap anyway, and wont improve on him when we can pay him around that 15M mark, but can only pay his replacement a small MLE or a vet min.

George Hill can play the Danny Green role.  With a ton of time to heal and get back into basketball shape, he should be much more productive.

I think green is just a better basketball player overall

yeah, that works. and hill is more of a ballhandler as well. plus i'd expect more minutes for thybulle to help pick up the defense you lose with green not coming back.

mike scott will be tough to replace though.

He certainly was last year.  If Hill can provide 75% of what Green did, that should be sufficient.

he was this season. guess we'll have to see how much better hill looks when healthy.  anyway, i'm hoping they somehow acquire someone better than both of them. idk if hill or green can be counted on for much on a real championship contender.

I think green also gives you a better leadership while on the court that i dont think helped when he went out in that atlanta series. He has a good ability to stay calm and keep those around him calm. I think that’s something not talked about enough. Hill is a better ball handler but i think green still gives you better defense, leadership. Shooting is close based off previous years. However there’s a chance hill is just declined and it’s way more rapid then green

could be. I think hill joined too late in the season too. We'll see. I'm hoping for sweeping changes.

I hope not but he did look really slow this past year.  However, this highlight was from just 2 years ago so maybe he was still hurt/out of b-ball shape.  There might be some hope.  He will have more room to operate when we get Lillard 😆

Hill definitely shouldnt be in the starting lineup. In place of Green, or for any reason at all. Id hope he can be a better bench player next year with some familiarity with the team now. But man I would be scared of seeing him take a starting role.

I hope both of you are right where it’s not the case. However he looked just slow out there on defense. Offense i could understand learning the offense and being rushed late season. But defensively when you watch him he was slow. Bodner and Hoffman made great observations on it.

i kind of think hill is gonna be used as a trade asset being an expiring contract and 10 mil to match tbh.

Get the 3rd pick, + for Ben.

Roll with young talent around Embiid with Green or Suggs, and Maxey with Harris and whatever else you get in the trade.

If Joel is frustrated that it isnt good enough and requests a trade, trade him for the best haul of assets you can get. There will be plenty of excellent offers. Thank him for not wanting us to pay him a super max on his way out.

Team will be loaded with young talent and ready to compete very soon. Will be exciting to watch them grow. And itll work faster than wasting years believing Embiid is ever going to win us anything, and then trying to repeat whatever watered down version of the process we can get away with from the league.

Now how does Morey and his one year on the job convince Embiid BFF Michael Rubin that is the plan and direction to take the team in. There's a lot of millionaires(billionaires?) involved with this thing down there who think they did their time of bad teams and waiting for kids to develop. None of them are willingly jumping back into that time frame on the path to building a championship team. They think they're close. They wanna brag about their playoff team to other billionaire owners/friends. Obviously, none of that helps this team win a title. But that's the reality of the situation, IMO.

I noticed it immediately and was shocked at just how slow he was.  I think I was making some posts about it real time.  It was shocking.

Hopefully that's why ONeil resigned. Maybe those wheels are already in motion.  We will have to wait and see what the offseason brings.

He is a vet. He should know the offense by the time he steps on the court. Basketball is not a confusing sport to run especially offensively.

Dude is just old and will be a downgrade from Green.

I think they’d be dumb not to sign green because they are over the cap and he is one of the few guys I’d consider paying that we have thats a FA with his cap hold.

Green should absolutely be kept.  There's no way to replace him with a comparable player given the resources we have.

I suspect if he leaves its due to a lack of interest in being here on his part.

Possible Simmons trade.

Green reportedly moving on.

Mike Scott appears headed out.

O'Neil out.

Could there be a major blow up coming?

It might be telling to hear from Howard. Green and Howard were supposed to be prized vets great for the locker room of a championship contending team. If both Green and Howard are gone what would that tell you about the direction the team is looking to go?

What do you guys think about Mac McClung with the insane workout numbers and great shooting display?

According to ESPN's Jonathan Givony, McClung posted a vertical leap of 43.5 inches, which would be the seventh-highest in the history of the NBA Draft Combine. Givony also said McClung ran the 3/4 court sprint in 2.94 seconds, the fastest time since 2001.

A good 7th 8th man

Im just looking at the top few picks in the draft to see what trades we could potentially make for those picks.

Detroit doesnt seem like a fit. They would have to do Grant, and more just to match Simmons contract. In addition to pick 1. Seems like too much for them to give.

Houston is out of the question working with us. Obviously...

Cleveland is a great trade partner. To land one of their guards, in addition to Green, Cunningham, or Suggs is the absolute dream.

Toronto- Wonder if Ben, for a Lowry sign S&T and pick 4 could work. They wouldnt end up with nothing for Lowry leaving. It would be like trading the 4th pick, for a known quantity. I guess the question is just how high are the on Suggs? In the article I posted above, some teams may have him in a lower tier even under Kuminga.

Then, probably as late as youd wanna go...Pick 5, Gary Harris, and Terrence Ross work for Simmons salary wise. You kinda have to hope youre not left with just Mobley there. Or.... maybe you do take him.
