Elton Brand publicly confirmed the Philadelphia 76ers have no intention of trading either Joel Embiid or Ben Simmons this offseason.

"I'm not looking to trade Ben or Joel," said Brand. "I'm looking to complement them better."

Well damn Elton.. if only you felt that way last year. Now how are we gonna do it?

Anyone else find Embiid and Simmons's silence deafening on the whole Brett Brown thing? HC gets fired and not a single word from the 2 biggest stars of the team.

Thats just odd. Even if they didnt like him,  youd think someone as asked for a comment by now. Youd think they could just say something brief and complimentary like Richardsons- Hes a good guy- quote.  Heck, you might even expect theyd bash him. But theres nothing one way or the other. Weird.

Man...

that really doesnt sound like theres gonna be someone else in charge over Brand.

He is really not a guy I trust to overhaul his staff.

All this "hes well respected throughout the league front offices" is just fluff. Of COURSE other GMs love dealign with him. Hes a fing push over. Theyre going to love him.

Id almost rather hear that our guy is regarded as a snake.

"or whatever happens"

WHAT?

Sounds like a great plan with clear direction. This will be great!

Oh. The new coach is completely Brands decision too. Awesome..

Sounds like we will all be frustrated as we watch other teams hire all the best names out there

jesus christ

Interesting. And unfortunate. Dont just read the tweet, click on the excerpt below.

Front office strategy is a strength???? JFC, it's going to get worse, not better.

"I think that accountability starts at the top of the organization, it starts with me,” Brand said. "I have to hold myself accountable in how to push these guys, how to push this group. The new coach, also, they’re going to have to find that balance on how to push these All-Star players to that next stage. It’s a great question. It’s not a collegiate level where you pull a guy, curse them out — or maybe it is, and that’s what we have to figure out, and we have to find that balance.”

More strong leadership by Brand. Sounds so sure of himself.

Bruce Bowen comments, and Brand's response. For the talk about accountability, he sure comes to Embiid's defense quickly. Already struggling to follow through on his words. Ridiculous. But hey! At least Embiid was at every meeting in the bubble! Not sure what the hell else he could have been doing in a fricking bubble... What leadership. What accountability.

"I feel like if they would’ve had an invested superstar in Joel Embiid, things wouldn’t be this way,” Bowen said. "Somebody that takes ownership of (being) the go-to guy on that team, that comes into camp in shape, that understands that he has to make others better — that’s why he’s a max player. I think the accountability is not being placed where it should be, and we need to start holding superstars accountable to being better players on the floor.”

Bowen also talked about an occasion when Brown invited him to speak to the Sixers. He claimed Embiid "had a problem” with his advice to spend less time on Twitter.

Brand didn't appreciate Bowen's remarks.

"Joel Embiid is growing as a player and as a person,” Brand said. "I think he’s in the right spot. The way he led during this restart in this bubble — you don’t get to see the behind the scenes, but he was at every meeting, he was spearheading team events and he was pushing to do a lot better, and he wants to win and he wants to be in Philadelphia.

"Regarding Bruce Bowen, I really don’t know what he’s talking about. Usually, when you’re asked to speak at a meeting for a team, you don’t go and talk about it on ESPN. I’m sure he won’t be invited back to any of my meetings.”

One thing to remember. If a new coach can get Ben to start shooting this becomes a totally different conversation

I wouldn’t go crazy.  It won’t fix Joel’s laziness, Horford and Harris’s contracts and the bench.

I definitely dont want the same exact team back. But if they do that, I am curious to see what difference just a different coach/offense can make.

It seems most likely we go in to the season at least with Ben, Joel, and Harris still here.

I suspect by deadline at least one of Ben or Embiid are moved as the coach sees how obstinate they are.

If you got offered something like Sabonis and Oladipo for Embiid or LaVine and Markkanen for Ben... by then I think the coach will be ready to consider it.

Sabonis and Victor would be too much for the Pacers. Both are legit All Stars

Yeah... but they haven't been able to advance.  May be time for a shake up. Neither as good as Embiid. Could put in Richardson or Thybulle for that one to happen.

Anyway that's not a real rumor either just something that's been thrown out there on other outlets.

Imagine those 2 trades though...

Oladipo

LaVine

Harris

Markkanen

Sabonis

Championship

I wouldn't disagree they are a 2nd round team and maybe conference finals with their team fully healthy. I would trade Turner before Sabonis to get a Rubio type PG on that team.

Thybulle should be close to untouchable because you can't keep trading away assets especially ones on rookie contracts with all the bloated contracts on this team.

According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown could be thrown into the mix as well.

Pompey writes:

Golden State Warriors associate head coach Mike Brown could be in the mix for the 76ers’ head-coaching vacancy. A league source says communications are happening on that front. Will he get an interview? To be determined.

Brown has a career coaching record of 347-216 including a record of 305-187 with the Cavaliers as he guided them to an NBA Finals appearance in 2007. He also spent some time as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers for a season and then five games into the following season.

i thought embiid was gonna be mvp & dpoy :meh:

So glad we had Brand here for OJT the last 2 years.  Makes me feel so much better about the prospect of the future.

Sixers have replaced the Phillies as the worst run organization in Philly.

nate mcmillan just fired from indy.   could be another candidate for the sixahs!
