Tis. But maybe there is still a Ben, and a Harris trade to come.  Then the whole team can look really different.

I still believe the sixers are trying to wait this out until lillard asks to be traded out of Portland. Which it’s coming at some point whether it’s sooner rather than later is another story or if they can even get him is another.

I am not saying this is how the Sixers are viewing this but I could totally see them buying into this philosophy. They believe they are going to be fine in the regular season which was indicated last year. Regular season theyll win games and Ben Simmons isn’t nearly as bad as in the playoffs because it’s the regular season. So they are banking on Portland getting off to a rough start or by the deadline lillard sees they’re not gonna win a title or even close to that and asks to be traded. at that point they try to make the move.

not saying that’s how I’d play it but i can see the sixers buying into that

Maxey will be the lead ball handler off the bench for now.  If and when Ben is traded it'll most likely be for a lead guard.  Harris I'm not sure what you move him for at this point.  He's a fine 3rd option, a fit with Embiid playing PF and an efficient scorer.  He struggled in 2 playoff games (game 7 the biggie) but priority is to move Ben first.  He obviously doesn't fit.  He needs to be on a team as a small ball 5 or with center that is happy camping the 3pt line.  That's just not gonna happen here with Embiid.  Warriors are ideal for him if they could move Draymond.

Still think Harris for Buddy Hield and try to involve the Magic for Terrance Ross.

Then move Simmons for Siakam and pieces

i think they need a shot creator/pg in a simmons trade. dame or fox would fit. hield...not so much. they still wouldn't have a legit pg to run the show and create.

Only thing I can see is maybe Lou or Reggie Jackson on a vet min. But we may just play Maxey abs be done.

this makes sense in the case of an eventual Fox/Lilliard trade. Ie. Simmons + Maxey for one of those guys (+ picks in case of Fox). Then this Lou/Reggie Jackson vet takes the vacated Maxey minutes.

I feel like Harris for Siakam is more even, and Id do that if you can get an extra piece from them. I dont know what. Some useful depth that upgrades over Kork or Shake potentially.

I dont really want Schroder, but right now I kinda think he might make sense in place of Shake off the bench. You cant rely on him in playoffs or big games. But he would be useful most of the season anyway.

Luckily the offseason is not over on August 5th

i kind of want shake gone. really inconsistent & disappeared in the playoffs except for one stretch.

If we could get siakam for harris I’d do it. Probably could get some other player included cause siakam is coming off shoulder surgery so won’t be ready for the start of the year and this risk with that surgery. I think siakam has more upside then Harris and i don’t think his 30% from three is indicative of what it normally is. He was around 36 percent the previous two years. Siakam had a bad year shooting threes but Toronto didn’t even get to play in Toronto all year so it was basically an unusual circumstance and i don’t think he’s happy playing under nick nurse.

Nothing to do with Schroder. He turned down 80/4 and now will be on a one year prove it deal. Dude will be about himself to get that contract. Heck, he was about himself with LeBron on his team and only will be worse now.

He's only 24

What I have read and listened to as well about Siakam. Is he an Nurse didn't get along.

The main concern is he is the only dude in the NBA that came back in worse shape and looked like less skilled coming into the bubble after that break. Dude needs a team that will push and support him. Are the Sixers to do that?

Simmons-like in how he had a plateau at best / regressed at worst year. No surprise as to why he's such an annoying player.

Problem is he only makes 1.6 million so you really can't trade him making that small amount.

which is why it would've been pretty nice to have seen him make even a small step forward this last year, transforming that 1.6M into an intriguing asset/sweetener to move a Ben trade along.

Honestly not sure the sixers are. They have Danny back so that’s a good leader to have to push him in the right direction. And he seemed to respond to the leadership a couple seasons ago when the raptors won the title. I’d be willing to take the risk cause i don’t see Harris as the answer even if they somehow got lillard. He’s still just 27 years old so i do think there’s room to improve and in his prime. Plus if he got back to 36 percent shooting from three he’s a better stretch big alongside embiid. I do think with embiid he also would have an easier time than what he saw last year. I’m curious to see how he’d respond to doc as compared to nurse.

Not sure DG is a leader. Remember a clip of Thybulle talking to DG on a podcast and how Thybulle wanted to mimic his game after him. Wouldn't that be something a vet and leader talks to the young guys about or has a relationship that they can talk about instead clearing the air over a podcast.

Watched the first quarter last night but good to see USA basketball demolish Australia last night and now on to France for the gold.

Thats the plan. As well as possibly with Drummond. Both are young enough on 1 year deals to have something to prove for their next big money. It might work in our favor.

this. shake is the first guy i'd thrown in for a simmons trade.

possibly. I think he and Embiid with the Cameroon connection would probably mesh well. You might see Joel and Siakam working together with Hanlen in the offseason, and playing doubles against Morey and Bickner.

Shake did not plateau or regress. He dramatically improved imo on his scoring ability by really getting good at going to the basket, and finishing.  The problem is that he does seem to come and go far too much. Not even just disappear in the playoffs, but much of the regular season too.

I’d have to listen to the podcast to get a better perspective on it. Sounds like it could’ve also been thybulle trying to give DG a complement by saying he wanting his game to be like DGs game. I also know thybulle said DG had taken to him and worked with him and watched film with him. There’s multiple articles here’s just one (https://sixerswire.usatoday.com/2021/05/05/matisse-thybulle-talks-danny-green-how-he-wants-to-be-remembered/)

all i know is this when Danny is on the court he’s very much a calming influence and has championship pedigree. I think that a lot of players respect him and the work he’s put in. I do think that goes along way in a locker room and even on the court. Really that’s the main reason i thought the sixers needed to bring him back.
