not sure I'd want to become the kings.

The kings with Embiid.  But yeah...Hield does nothing Curry can't and is paid 2.5x the salary.  Bagley is trash and an expiring.  Barnes is worse than Tobias.  Not sure there's a big upgrade besides fox can play offense.

i think Harris is arguably much better than Barnes and hield. hield allows for more floor spacing cause he’s a better 3 point shooter. Everything else i think Harris is flat out better. Imo Barnes is massively overpaid and really suited to be a bench guy at this stage of his career.

still think it’s better value then you likely get from the warriors in a trade overall. I think the warriors would give you wiggins and probably one of wiseman, moody and kuminga. I like moody a lot but he really doesn’t fit the sixers timeline whatsoever. That’s the major issue with the warriors only Wiggins does and he’s really got the same issue as hield defensively (was solid last year but i think that is not indicative of his overall career or if he came here) and not as good of a shooter.

i see why the Warriors would want to trade Andrew Wiggins this off-season because his numbers this past year look a hell of a lot better than any point in time in his career. His defense was better and he shot 38% from 3. I would guarantee wherever he goes next year those numbers dip back close to his career norm.

Its better value than a Warriors deal. Youre getting better players in Hield, and Fox than anyone GSW would offer.

Another thing no one else wants to think of, but that deal contains over 30M expiring money over the next 2 years when you also have to decide on handing Embiid the super max... or not. If he continues to be injured each post-season, or worse yet is even showing signs of slowing down in the regular season by then, you are going to be clearing a ton of cap space heading in to the summer where you may be setting up your life without Embiid.

Fox, Maxey, Hield as your young players heading in to the next era. Available cap space. Tobias will be another huge expiring deal that can potentially be moved at the next trade deadline. Youre setting yourself up with assets to make major changes while having some promising young players to move to the future with.

I think you mean hield can potentially be moved at the next trade deadline not Harris cause Harris would be on the kings. I actually think the kings could use somebody like Tobias Harris in that locker room and on the court.

i know people will say the kings won’t deal fox in a trade but elhassan on Sirius continues to keep mentioning the kings FO didn’t give him that contract and don’t have any ties to fox so they’d be more willing to deal him than haliburton and Mitchell who were their draft picks. I look at kings that team is routinely 10-15 slot in the west with those guys every year. At some point got to make a big change to change up the culture. I could also see the kings buying into believing they could get the most out of Simmons and they’d never have a chance to sign him if he was a FA.

hypothetically I think if a big-time player became available in team would much rather take on De’Aaron fox then Ben Simmons especially knowing Fface only wants to play in California.

Andre Iguodala narrowing his options to Nets, Warriors, Lakers.

Sorry but dude is washed up at this point. He must have some witch craft over the NBA or something

Well he’s old and that’s a requirement for being a bench player for the Lakers now. I tend to think he’s just a 12th on the bench that helps in the locker room cause he has championship experience. I tend to think he goes back to the warriors

Purely hypothetical would you do it. Taking on Barnes who’s a bad contract. Bagley who stinks and basically just a 11 mil cap hit until he’s a FA at the end of the year. Sixers would take on money so the kings actually can clear some cap space from this deal. Bagley imo has little value but his expiring contract. He’s a pain in the ass and they want to get rid of him and his father. To me this trade comes down to Simmons and Harris with a first for hield and fox. Kings imo would jump for joy to unload Barnes and bagley money. Not sure they’d do Harris, Simmons and a first for fox and hield. I think they’d do hield for Harris (frankly i think Harris is a better overall player than hield). Simmons for fox i think depends on if elhassan is correct in that the kings FO is open to dealing fox and liking Simmons

Any way you slice it, there looks like a reasonable deal can be made with the Kings. Whether it's flipping Tobias Harris for Buddy Hield or trading away Ben Simmons for DeAaron Fox or alternatively a group of players, there's something that would make sense for both teams. Even the big package you posted makes some sense with the expiring contract logic. The Kings lack defense and the Sixers lack offense.

There's also the point you made about DeAaron Fox potentially being more attractive to the Trail Blazers in a Damian Lillard trade or the Wizards in a Bradley Beal trade. It may be wise to try to get a deal with them before you lose out on a deal altogether by waiting too long.

Agree on most points, but Dame isn’t going to want to go to the Kings. They’re worse than Portland.

I think it will be one of these teams to trade for the loser Spurs, Magic, Kings, Raptors, TWolves

Portland star Damian Lillard says the Trail Blazers weren't able to get "some of the guys" they would have liked during free agency as he discussed his role in recruiting players with reporters Friday.

"When you go into free agency and things like this, you never know what happens," Lillard said during a media availability at the Tokyo Olympics. "You never know where guys are going to end up and why they go there. You just try to have conversations and convince guys to be a part of our team.

"And obviously, this go around, we wasn’t able to go out there and just get some of the guys that we would have liked, and you go down the list and you go through the guys that are out there that you like who haven’t committed to a team or was a part of your plans in free agency and you get the ones that want to be a part of what you’re doing. And I think that’s what we did."

During 2021 free agency, the Blazers re-signed their top target, guard Norman Powell, to a five-year, $90 million deal, but they did not make as much of a splash as other title contenders.

Following Portland's early exit from the playoffs — a first-round loss to Denver in six games — there were reports that Lillard requested a trade, which he said were not true.

"I haven't made any firm decision on what my future will be," Lillard said after a Team USA practice prior to the Tokyo Olympics, adding he didn't think the Blazers were currently a championship team, even with new coach Chauncey Billups.

Lillard added that although he expected to be in a Blazers uniform next season and wanted to finish his career in Portland, he desires to win a championship: "Over time, you want to win it all. And we have to make strides to do that."

I want to send him somewhere absolutely sucky.

This team owes him nothing. They made him the #1 overall pick. They gave him the ball and let him be the PG of the team. They stuck with him as his shooting form went backwards while working with his family. They gave him his rookie max deal when he had shown no improvement yet. They have been through numerous GMs. Made countless signings and blockbuster trades to try to build around him. As he continued regressing, they fired their long time, respected coach in hopes of finding the next guy that players would respect and listen to more. And then not only did his shooting regress, but so did his willingness to even try.

HE has never done a thing for this franchise. Whether by injury or poor performance he has always been a key reason why we cant get past the 2nd round of the playoffs. He hasnt gotten along with Embiid. He made the franchise choose between him or Butler, and lose Butler.  He publicly embarrassed his former coach by doing the opposite of what he was asked. The franchise continues to stand behind him after his embarrassing playoff performance and he ghosts them. They form a plan for his development but he goes to LA and cant be reached. They even send a team of coaches out to LA for him, and it is still reported that he has had no contact with anyone from the team. And then comes out publicly with a list of preferred teams, and specifically states he doesnt want Portland when our main  target has seemed to be Lillard all along.

F him. Kings can make a nice package, and they suck. But thats a california team. I dont even want him to get to go there.

Send him to Portland for CJ. Send him to Indiana for Brogdon. Send him to OKC for prospects and picks. I dont care much about the value. I just want to see him flame out of the league sucking for some sucky team for the next 3 years. And by then, no big California team is going to even want to pay him when he is a free agent.  F him and the rest of his career.

we were definitely due for a new villain around here. Morey should just pull an Andy-like move and send him in division to the Celtics. You wanna really hate this guy, lets do it all the way. No half measures.

It doesn't matter what team he is on, he will get boo'ed out of the building.  I'm sure he will make up some type of injury or say he has menstrual cramps to get out of playing that day.

If he does play, I hope we are ESPN's opening headline the following day.  "Fans throw trash and beer on Ben Simmons upon return"

I wonder how Danny Green will handle the reaction Ben gets.

Really we should throw bricks

Markkanen said he wants to leave the Bulls. Has offers from several teams.

Iguodala signing with Warriors.

tobi's career 3pt % is better than markkanen's....really close but slightly better.  just looked that up & was genuinely surprised.

Markkanen is only 23 so the thought is he’d continue to get better as he got older cause he’s a very good FT shooter. improved it this year to 40%. He had a rough 2019-20 season at 34%. It really brings his average down. markkanen averages 6.1 three attempts per game whereas tobias is at 3.6.

yeah, i think markkanen would be better at spacing the floor. i don't know the rest of his game very well...especially defense.

Lauri hasn't played with a lead guard not a coach that can use him. His potential is Peja Galo still in my opinion

He’s an ok defender. He’s not great but not awful. Career 111.3. Harris is a better defender. I also think Harris is a better rebounder than markkanen.  I do think markkanen is a better passer than Harris but Harris has benefitted from playing with better coaching and players around him (besides Lavine for most of his career). he really needs to work on his post up game. I think at his size he could really kill smaller defenders doing that.

like Daeagles said there’s been other issues around him. Plus i can tell you he’s been really unhappy in Chicago for about 2 seasons now. I can’t imagine that hasn’t weighed on him

Harris is an all around better player. Better scorer. And not just a better defender, but better utility as a switchable piece. Markkanen is pretty much set as only a 4, on offense and defense. The only hope would be that his 3pt shooting being that much better than Harris just makes him a better fit next to Embiid and would clear a ton of space for him.

It would be nice if you could trade Harris for Markkanen and a wing piece. While you downgrade a bit at the 4, you get improved shooting from that position and transfer the talent from the front court out to the wings where its more important. Markkanen and Satoransky would be great.

Makes absolutely no sense. We had no 4 depth last year. Now we still wont. Its only going to be Niang there. And Petrusev is probably already a better player than him. I hope he dominates SL so good than it somehow changes Morey's mind.
