i may be too optimistic but i believe that with some moving around and bringing in an actual experienced coach will take this team to the next level, if they bring in another inexperienced guy, we are not going anywhere.

Levert is the perfect 3rd option for them so doubt they do it and just paid DeAndre all that money

that's a really, really bad return for embiid...not 1 difference maker for an all-nba player...so bad. would make the nets dominant & have the sixers struggling to just make the playoffs.

There were some 2nd round picks included too but that doesn't really matter.

Imo Jarrett Allen gives them a current NBA version of a Center.

All 3 still young.

All 3 I believe are on the margin of being close to all star caliber. With a starting role someone may take that next step.

I think Allen may be the most likely.  He's an athletic freak already averaging almost a double double.  And I think DPOY potential as well.

Could see LeVert making all star teams too.

I like the players.  My question with the lineup is shooting.  Especially with Ben still on that team.

I also think expectations for a Joel trade return need to be kept in check.

-Injuries

-conditioning

-not a fit for many teams

Not sure how great your gonna do in a trade.  3 borderline all stars sounds pretty good to me.

Yes, it would be dumb to help the Nets. But our team is set up for longer term success.

Durant and Irving are oft injured and older. Embiid, we know his issues... they'll be really great for a really short time.

Yup. Welcome back to the iguadala years with that trade.

I agree we are getting less but, I don't think that makes the nets dominate. 2 guys that are hurt constantly and Durant coming off an Achilles that most NBA players are never the same. Plus they lose all their role players.

Need to find a team that is close to winning a with a ton of assets.

Thunder, Nuggets, or Warriors

Or teams know to make dumb a** decisions

Bulls, Kings, TWolves, Cavs

Assuming Kira Lewis is available

Oubre, Rubio, Cam Johnson and #10

For Ben Simmons

Saw this  really depends on how you feel about huerter and hunter. I’d also make it not top 3 protected with embiid’s injury history and ability to decline

I saw that and like all but Capela. Not sure why we get him other than needing to take salary.

I'd prefer to get Collins in the trade.

Really like Huerter and wanted us to draft him.

According to NBA trade machine it works salary wise with him in it. I’m guessing that’s why. I’m also guessing because the Sixers believe he likely would be a defensive presence with embiid gone that they need.

When I read it I rationalized it is Capela is not the antiquated style center like Joel Embiid is. While capela doesnt stretch the floor, he at least is the athletic rim runner which Embiid is not. One can keep up with the pace of today's game, and one cannot. Capela is not perfect for today's game but hes a better fit than Embiid.

In that trade, though, you really have to accept that the highlight of the deal is going to be the prospects like Hunter and the picks. You get no proven stars.

Which, again is ok with me. We need to check our expectations for returns in an Embiid trade.

Honestly that’s why I would want that 2022 to pick to be unprotected. If I am having to take on guys who are just prospects that might never be stars I want some sort of pick that could potentially be a top three picks. Granted I don’t think trae young and embiid with Atlanta would be picking in the top three anyways but then again I don’t know if embiid holds up or gets hurt

I would rather trade Ben. But if this is the Atlanta trade we're going with, for the love of God give me Kira Lewis. Please Brand, just listen.

Not sure why we are still talking trades. Brand has already said he won’t be trading Simmons or Embiid, and with reports that they were consulted regarding the next coach... neither is going anywhere.

Probably cause we have nothing else to talk about until end of October .

a lot of articles proposing trades. they give us something to discuss.

And, you never know. That can be just talk and when the calls come in what they say and what they do may be different.

if they're trading embiid to build around ben...which they're not....a guy like capela would make zero sense. you'd have to surround ben with a 5 who shoots threes. there will be a lot of made up junk trade rumors between now & the end of the year...trading embiid for a packing including capela is one of them.

Capela is the filler for salary.  The meat and potatoes of that trade is all the rest of it.

It doesn't make much sense to focus solely on the filler to talk down a trade.  Itd make more sense if you didn't like the rest of it.

capela making $18-$20 mill per year for the next 3 seasons on a team where he's not a fit is the part that doesn't make sense.

Yup! Rockets run a high tempo offense with shooters and traded away only rim protection for a 6'7" Wing. Capela is unplayable in the final minutes of the game because he can't shoot FTs

in all fairness,  do you see any gms actually say we are trading this guy and that guy? that's bad business.

yeah. Often times a salary throw in that is in a deal just to make salary work isnt going to be the appealing part of the deal.

Yeah these two arent going anywhere soon.

 wouldn't he be the highest salary coming back in that trade?  anyway, it's horrible. he can't be on the court with simmons at all.

yeah he would. But thats necessary when the ideal parts of the trade are the young players and assets. You have to match Embiid's salary somehow. So youre going to get a bad contract. But the parts to focus on, the reasons to make the trade are all the other stuff youve been ignoring. If youre grading the trade, you should grade it on those other players and picks. Not the throw in for salary matching purposes. You can still dislike it, thats fair. Im just saying, you should grade it in the proper scale.
