He was so poised as a rookie.  The moment never looks too big for him.  He looks like he can become a great defender too.

Been on Haliburton for a while now

I do wonder if Morey had the opportunity to take the 4th pick and Siakam for Simmons because F Suggs looks like the real deal. He already looks too good for summer league.

Said it a few weeks ago. Lillard doesn't necessarily make Embiid better where someone like Haliburton or Fox can at least make the players around him better.

I think Lillard would. And would be amazing here with Embiid. But I still dont think its enough. So its really not worth doing. Id much rather do Ben for one of the other guards that have been discussed.

You were the guy who got me on him.  I didn't how much about him until you told me how good he was.

Know it's only summer league but Suggs backing down dudes, hustling on D, hitting mid range jumpers, and 3 pointers.

And he is one a cheap rookie deal so could have added dudes around him and Embiid. What could have been

[Lowe] Sixers likely view Simmons as their "path to Lillard"

renderTimingPixel.png

Simmons is the only one among them who is available, but his availability is very much tied to the other two -- and probably more to Lillard than Beal, though that can swing in time. Several teams -- including the Warriors, Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves -- have discussed Simmons with varying degrees of interest, sources said, but one reason talks haven't gone far is that the Sixers likely view Simmons as their path to Lillard.

They have a temporary time advantage no one is talking about. There is a good chance the Lillard trade war, should it ever happen, comes down to the Sixers and New York Knicks. (And to be clear: Lillard is not available, and has not asked for a trade, sources said.) Other alternatives will pop up. Any team willing to trade all its future picks and swap rights can butt into the conversation.

But rebuilding teams have no reason to trade for Lillard unless they are 100% confident another star is coming close behind. The Heat are low on trade ammo after acquiring Lowry. The Pelicans are the Lillard wild card, with Brandon Ingram and oodles of future picks from several teams.

If it's Philly versus New York, the Sixers have an edge that will expire on Dec. 15 at the earliest: The Knicks will have a very hard time building an offer for Lillard in a two-team trade until all their big-money signings -- including Julius Randle on a new extension -- become trade eligible at various points beginning midseason. Philly's offer is ready now. The Sixers are surely hoping for some disruption in Portland to happen sooner -- or at least they should be. They recently hired Phil Beckner, a player development ace who coached Lillard at Weber State and remains one of his confidantes.

The flip side is that the Sixers might be on their own clock with Simmons: Can everyone come back to camp and put on a good face? How long can they wait for Lillard?

spacing alone would help make embiid better. you're replacing a guy the defense doesn't have to guard outside of 5 feet from the hoop with a guy the defense has to guard 5 feet over the halfcourt line.

Literally any other guard does that though. Dame is a Top 10 player in the league and Sixers should do whatever it takes to get him.

hmm??? anyone know about this?

There’s a pretty unflattering rumor going around about Ben from the Michael Lombardi podcast. Hope it’s not true because it seems like he might not be a good culture guy for a locker room.

gossipy bs but here's that guys follow-up....

He pretty much insinuated Ben almost missed Game 7 due to contact tracing from partying. Also mentioned Ben would miss walkthroughs and blow off shootarounds. Hope it’s not true.

NBA players are so entitled these days, it's embarrassing. This however, is totally unacceptable.  This tool never got yelled at or reprimanded for anything.  And as years went on, he got worse and worse and no one put their foot down.  What was the point of firing Brett and hiring Doc if he was going to be so easy on him?

I don't care if they are entitled, love to eat hot wings at strip clubs, have girlfriends at every city, or are trolls on Twitter as long as they love the game of basketball and want to get better.

Ben doesn't fit a f about basketball, it's obvious, and it's a lot more common in basketball and football than we think. They are just superior athletes and a way to make a boatload of money.

The Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves are among the teams who have discussed a trade for Ben Simmons with varying degrees of interest, sources tell Zach Lowe of ESPN.

The 76ers haven't progressed far with a trade of Simmons as they likely view him as their path to a trade for Damian Lillard.

Simmons appears to be the only All-Star player truly available via trade as Lillard and Bradley Beal haven't signaled a preference to be dealt.

Simmons is a two-time All-NBA Defensive First Team selection and three-time All-Star. Last season, Simmons averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 32.4 minutes per game.

love seeing this part mentioned re: this topic/conversationSimmons is a two-time All-NBA Defensive First Team selection and three-time All-Star.

let's just hope every GM Morey is talking to is looking at that, and not remembering what their eyeballs saw as this loser cost us a Round 2 Game 7 at home.

Lowe says Lillard is not available and has not asked for a trade.

Surely he is back from the olympics by now so any hope of it happening then is probably gone.

I really think its time to move on and find the next best move. Of course, we will probably drag this to December.

Ben will be holding out. We will be losing games. And any offers on the table will be adjusted given our lack of any leverage whatsoever in that situation.

Kings definitely have a surplus of guards because Mitchell is playing.

If theyre smart theyd keep Haliburton and Mitchell.

Id settle for Fox, with Hield. Thats a big win in a Simmons trade as far as talent coming back to us without having to give up extra assets.

It also makes the most sense for SAC, as Simmons fits nicely with 2 guards who can shoot it like they can.

It works well for both sides. I wish it would friggin be done already.

Fox, Hield, Green, Harris, Embiid

Maxey and Curry off the bench. We would be looking great.

i think fox & hield both have huge contracts...so ben alone wouldn't be enough to match salaries.

oh F I was thinking Fox was still on the rookie deal.

just checked....fox + hield is about $17.5 mill more than ben's salary.

They combine for about 50 million.

So itd have to be something like Simmons and Green to get them both.

Whatever then. Simmons for Fox and a 1st is fine.

danny can't be traded for 3 months. getting fox + hield would be complicated unless we wanted to do that trade where we basically become the kings.  ben & tobi for fox, hield, & barnes.

i'd do ben for fox & a 1st right now.

Haliburton, Bagley and Hield for Simmons and Shake (the money works).  They want to dump Bagley and we can give them Shake to replace Haliburton.  Throw in a 1st if needed.

Buddy is a Top 5 shooter in the world and would have the easiest 20 ppg as a Sixer

Haliburton/Bagley/Hield for Simmons, Shake, Korkmaz and a 1st.  Shake and Korkmaz are still only 24 and Kork is a cheaper but poor mans Hield.  Shake replaces Haliburton but way down the depth chart and they want to get rid of Bagley.  They probably don't take that offer but let us dream...

Maxey/Haliburton

Hield/Curry

Tisse/Green

Tobi/Bagley

Joel/Drummond

its good

whether they do that, or just fox for Simmons someone needs to convince Morey to just get on with it.

Yeah the only way to do hield and fox for Simmons without dealing tobias is this. And i guarantee people won’t like it
