You are not alone. Even the Mailata vs. Dillard thread in TATE spawned a Simmons ‘debate’.

No debating we all agreed he sucked lol

Yuck

Why? Like just why

I really don’t get the Celtics offseason plan tbh. Schroeder i guess makes sense at the price and maybe use him as a trade chip at the deadline. This contract screams bad contract by the time they get to year 3.

Salt to the wound lmao. Turns down 4/84million from a championship contender to getting 1/6million to end up on the bench behind a guy who just got 4/77million lol.

He is already losing his athleticism.

Schroeder clearly bet that the Lakers were gonna make a deep run and he would be vital aka get paid. He should thank AD for this pay cut.

I never cared for Schroeder one way or the other but I was listening to one of the national shows who went over his career path and some others in the Missed The Big Pay Day Boat for one reason or the other.  They're all still rich but it's kinda sad that they missed out on generational wealth.  Isiah Thomas and DeMarcus Cousins were on that list too.  They even mentioned Nerlens Noel who apparently turned down a big deal from I forget who they said but he never made that money back.

Freaking Ben, he loves his summer shooting pics and vids!! Just like always though, standing there doing nothing come game time!

Realgm site has been down for a couple hours. Wonder what’s going on?

Well puts a damper on Stephen A. Smith’s rumor he was just going to recruit embiid or Tatum to the Knicks

There's no way he's going to be dominant when he's making those crazy salary figures.  Disgusting.

90% of the time, super contracts in all of sports have this issue.  You gotta pay the price while the person is in their prime.  Nothing you can do about it.

I guess... I feel like there's no position with a shorter prime than a 7'2" center with injury history.

Maybe RB but you see what's happened to their value.  They don't get paid like this and when they do it often turns out bad.

Worse yet salary rules are much more restrictive in the NBA. So this is worse.

Good. One less thing to do. It’s a boatload of money for a big guy with injuries, but there really wasn’t any viable alternative. Just have to hope he stays healthy and can play around 60-65 games per season.

The goal should be to somehow have a second star within 2 years (sooner if possible).  Let that guy carry the bulk of the load and rest Joel during regular season.  Joel can still average 22-23ppg and get you 10 boards, even 5 years from now.

Get someone good enough to make Joel a #2 option.

So trade Ben for assets and keep what few we have.  Don't trade a bunch for 1 guy.  Trade 1 guy for a bunch.

Lillard doubles down on short sighted stupidity. Makes it worse now if you just committed an extra 4 years with Joel. So why hurry up and sirens a ton for an over 30 player who won't age well?

Theres no more we have about 2 years.  It's like... we are paying him for another 6 so we have a little time to get the right pieces around him.

And if they don't think they have that much time then they shouldn't have committed to that contract.

There are a couple right ways to do this.  Get Lillard this year would be one of them in my opinion.  If you can get Fox or Haliburton and keep Maxey, Joe, Thybulle, Reed, etc, that works too.

There is apparently no language in this one protecting the team against injury.

They really went all the way in.

You read the whole contract?

I believe that has been reported.

Saw that too. Saw he also represented himself in the negotiations.
