I thought it was pretty impressive that he got Oklahoma City to the playoffs as the five seed. Even before the stoppage that team was playing well above where they should’ve been. Granted they have Chris Paul and that makes a huge difference but he did a great job with sga.

yeah re: Donovan- the Thunder pick was never supposed to convey to us this year. That right there tells you his team overachieved the expectations.

I wonder if him being here makes it that much more likely Paul comes?

-Donovan might campaign hard to have him.

-If the Thunder show him the respect of being such a vested veteran in the league and give him some say of where he is traded to, maybe Donovan makes this a more attractive destination.

Both good points and definitely they both go in favor of hiring Donovan. Lue may have won an NBA title with the Cavs, but this all brings back the question how much of it was on the fact he had LeBron James on the team, as opposed to his actual coaching contributions? If the team considered Jay Wright with his 2 national championships and reputation for developing players as their top choice, they would be silly to not consider Billy Donovan who has a strong pedigree at the college ranks, but also NBA coaching experience with some success.

back on the chris paul thing...seems like sixers "insiders" are hoping they can get paul for horford+.....and then i read another article saying paul for simmons.  i don't think any of us really know what it would take to get paul.

Not sure why OKC would want horford or tobias instead of Chris Paul in a trade. Paul has 2 years left. Granted 41 and 44 mil per. But his contract becomes an expiring contract after this upcoming season which benefits OKC. Meanwhile horford still has 3 years left And 2 to be an expiring contract and tobias has 4 years and 3 til he’s an expiring contract. You would likely have to include Richardson with horford and likely give up a prospect like thybulle for Okc to do that deal and for it to match up money wise. Sam presti isn’t a stupid GM i doubt he wants horford or Tobias harris with their contracts.

It's hard to respect sports. Because certain things are easy to fix. But then you just compound the problem with a redundant trade. I stopped being a Knicks fan because of this shh. Politics I guess is what's being played. It torture to watch this. They should just sell the team.

it's pretty depressing to be reminded of all the front office screw ups while watching the remaining  playoff teams.

boston with tatum playing at an elite level....we traded to draft fultz instead.

miami...obviously with jimmy as their closer.

clippers...we took tobi off their hands...giving them shamet & cap space they sort of used for kawhi & george.

lakers....remember when we were "star hunting" for lebron?

okay, not much with houston & denver...roco maybe?

Somebody mentioned Skylar Mays earlier. He would be perfect. Add Tyrell Terry and we're through the roof.

OKC is going into rebuild mode.  That's probably why Donovan wanted to leave.  My guess is they will want to move on from CP3's contract if possible but I don't know if them taking back Harris or Horford would be palatable.  Adam's contract is up next year, too.   They'll be flush with cash but won't have any stars to attract big FAs.

Denver has the dude we should have traded up to pick when there were rumors of trading up. But we didnt because he didnt fit our timeline since he was injured. So we drafted a project in Zhaire Smith anyway. Thats a pretty bad one.

Houston has Danuel House who we should have signed last offseason with our MLE which Houston couldnt have matched. We went with unplayable Mike Scott instead.

yep those are my 2 guys right now. Terry and Mays would be a hell of a haul.

For a while Paul was a bad contract for bad contract swap. However his season and playoffs have rebuild his value to the point where someone will have to give up some assets for him.

Milwaukee is expected to make a play for him.

A Horford for Paul swap seems out of the question at this point.

Horford plus Richardson or plus Richardson and 21? Might be necessary.

Paul, Simmons, Embiid, Thybulle in theory would be an awesome defensive team.  Unless they employ the BB PnR defensive method.

How is should be done

The Pacers are embarking on a wide-ranging search that has included seeking permission to speak to several assistant coaches in the league, including the Spurs' Hammon and Will Hardy, Miami's Dan Craig and Chris Quinn, Dallas' Jamahl Mosley and Stephen Silas, Milwaukee's Darvin Ham and Charles Lee, Orlando's Pat Delany, Minnesota's David Vanterpool, Philadelphia's Ime Udoka, Brooklyn's Jacque Vaughn and Portland's Nate Tibbetts.

Now that someone kindly published the list maybe the 6ers will use it so they know who to interview too.

Gonna need horford and Richardson as horford’s only at 27.5 million and Paul is at 41. Need to get close to matching. Only way you can really do that with horford is Richardson’s 11.6 for next year. Makes it 41 coming in and 39.1 going out. Or instead of horford you trade harris who’s making more and a throw in player. But the issue is Okc doesn’t want to take on long term contracts which horford and harris are. So likely have to get a third team involved

Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer reports that the Sixers have thought about making a trade for Paul in the offseason. They would be in competition to acquire Paul with the Milwaukee Bucks who would be looking to retool after a semifinals loss.

O’Connor reports:

The trouble is that Oklahoma City likely prefers not to take on long-term salary, so a third team could be required. The Bucks would likely face competition in any pursuit of Paul. League sources say the Sixers front office has seriously debated the idea of chasing CP3.

They don’t want any long term massive contracts. Kevin O’Connor has reported that. You’d need a third team involved.

I would use Richardson plus 34+36 to move up to like 9-15 range in the draft. That way we can get either Kira or Tyrell Terry. Then pick up the guard from LSU at 21. I believe it's a major mistake to go after Paul. He compounds our problems.

D'antoni isn't returning to Houston and will be considered by the 6ers.

I posted this earlier but it looks like the boards went into meltdown

With D'Antoni leaving the Rockets does he end up here? The Sixers wanted to fire Brown and replace him with D'Antoni when he was an assistant here.

I also can't think of a worse roster fit with the gamestyle he will want to play unless you trade Embiid and Horford for shooters and hope that Simmons becomes a Marion style player

And as I was reading some connecting the dots ideas on other boards, trading for harden makes sense. Ben simmons and kork and a future first + two of this year's 2nd rd for harden. But man I want Terry and the LSU skylar mays  also. Where's hinkie?

Yeah. I wondered that back at the beginning of this search.  Seemed like timing lined up perfectly.

On one note they are supposed to be cleaning house of Colangelos FO people.  But are probably going to end up hiring his coach.

I literally just posted news a minute ago.

ESPN article says he will be considered by the 6ers.

We really need a really skilled GM. The options are there on the table.

D'Antoni can go f himself. Do not want that sheet here.

That's because there isn't one.

I want no part of Harden. Yes he’s one of the great scorers, but he’s a selfish player. He will never win a title.

I say Simmons for Harden works and the pick and roll with him and Embiid with Harris, another shooter/ball handler and Thybulle.
