That's why he was immediately hated in new york and LA because he didn't have the point guard or shooting guards to run his system and players that can shoot the 3 at all 5 positions.... Considering the sixers don't have a solid 3 point shooter at any position.... Like I said that there could not possibly be any worse of a coach hire

That’s one way to look at it... the other is that the personnel doesn’t fit his scheme, that should be obvious, so MAYBE the plan is to change that. Many here have been saying that Some big roster changes need to happen anyway right? If they hired D’Antoni I think that is more likely to happen.

Absolutely but, I don't even see where embiid or simmons even fits his style. Emiid is in know way keeping up with that pace and we'll Simmons won't shoot. Simmons is the one that would seem  to fit the best though. Simply because he can play at that pace and move the ball around the perimeter and be their big in small ball lineups.

That’s what I was getting at... I think they’re more likely to consider trading one of those two if D’Antoni is the hire than they would be if it was Lue or Donovan.

And say they traded Embiid and kept Simmons... D’Antoni wouldn’t be a pushover like BB. I get the feeling that he would basically tell Simmons he either starts taking open shots when he has them, or he sits on the bench.

Agreed and I would think embiid would be the odd man out. Can't have him laboring up and down the court and clogging up lanes plus he isn't that great of a passer or ball handler ( good for his size but, still not what D'antoni looks for

simmons has already started his offseason ritual...posting shirtless pics of himself working out in the weight room on instagram.

I think you are giving the sixers way too much credit to think they’d just make a big change like trading embiid or Simmons. I really don’t think it’s out of the question the sixers ask d’antoni to change his system to fit Simmons and embiid. It’s not as if they have been the sharpest front office in the league.

Add on asking them to trade embiid and actually not screw that up.

Just heard on a podcast from a reporter in the bubble said that no team hated the bubble more than the Sixers.

that explains why they were in such a hurry to go home.

If it ends up being D'Antoni, I guess I won't be surprised.  It always felt like he was brought in as an assistant here to take over for Brown.  I don't see how his system works with the current roster.  I imagine there will have to be significant changes. Simmons in particular seems like a bad fit.

Simmons would be a 5 and rim runner.  Embiid would be the odd man out because he's lazy, can't set picks and doesn't like to run.

I would think Embiid is the odd man out. He wouldn’t be able to keep up with the pace.

Given the alternatives available, my hope at this point is that D’Antoni is the hire, and his experience and personality are enough to convince Brand to move Embiid. And then that D’Antoni has the stones to stand up to Ben and tell him "Shoot the open shots, or sit your a** on the bench.”

I could just see Ben's injury turning into an Andrew bynum type thing right after we trade Embiid. Then we  reversed energy of two trades, bynum and jrue holiday. And brand is looked at like a genius for ruining the process.

I still don't know how D,Antoni even keeps getting jobs. His style clearly is not built for playoff basketball it always burns out. Today's style is a bit more geared to his style but, at the same time his is to the extreme and there is no adjustment no matter who the opponent is. Just jack 3's at all costs not even a little bit of a half court basketball and chew some clock when the situation calls for it.

god no with d'antoni ... why wouldnt you hire someone who can work with the talent already here ?

I want Donovan. While they flamed out in the playoffs last season, he seems to get the best out of what he has to work with. That team was supposed to tank this season and made the playoffs

Honestly at this point they might as well just blow the whole damn thing up and just start over with a rebuild. Because D’Antoni doesn’t make any Fing sense. It’s like trying to hit a square peg into a round hole with personnel.  it’s not gonna work. I swear this organization is the dumbest organization in the NBA

Maybe he will teach our guys to shoot, even better he will make sure the front office brings in some shooters.  Everyone realizes that for this team to be successful we need shooters.

Probably why they fired him because he effed up their high pick prospects lol

A max guy to be a rim runner, makes sense

Atkinson all the way. That Nets team two years ago played the Sixers tough in the playoffs and they were over achievers for sure. He will end up with the Pelicans, they will end up a top 5 seed in the West and everyone will say why didn't they hire him
